Song No.004
Play with both hands as if gently telling a story. It might help to sing or hum the melody as you play.
Similar melody lines and rhythms are repeated in this song, so there arent as many sections to practice as
you might think. Enjoy learning each section as you build prociency.

The melody will be built up little by little.

Diligent Practice Time
Connect the notes smoothly, as if the left hand were passing them to the right hand. Youll be able to play
smoothly if you move the left hand into position for the next phrase as soon as it nishes playing the rst
phrase.

Diligent Practice Time
OK, lets begin the second half!
Youll be able to play the melody nicely if you lift your ngers from the keyboard between the slurs.
It might be easier to grasp the key release timing if you sing along with the melody.
Dont panic and play too strongly where the left hand has to play short notes.
First Half Review
Youve reached the halfway step! Have you learned all the material provided in the preceding steps?
Now lets go back and play through all the first-half exercises. If you find that youre having trouble
playing any of the material, go back and review the steps using the Step Map as a guide.
Always have left-hand nger 5 ready to play the next note!
