Power Offset of 5dBm

The driver reports a low er transmit pow er level to the genuine output pow er of the card and therefore a correction factor of 5dB is required. Because of the fixed pow er limitations in the Atheros Linux MADW IFI driver, all of the Dbii cards produce a higher output than show n. Dbii has implemented pow er "offsets" as a w ork-around for OEM customers using driver versions w ith the pow er limitations to achieve maximum output pow er. A very detailed explanation is in a form of a pdf w hich can be found here: [1]

This is w hat it should look like w ith DEFAULT pow er levels, you have to visually add 5 to the total Tx pow er and that is then the true pow er. (Look to the example picture on the right) This is considered normal and optimal settings for your Routerboard. It is highly recommended to use DEFAULT settings.

Reset Wireless Configuration

If upgrading an existing card w ith a Dbii Pro card, alw ays ensure you reset the w ireless configuration before configuring so as to ensure the card is operating optimally!

Preventing damage to PA
Do not pow er up the card w ithout a correctly tuned antenna or a dummy load connected! Damage may occur to the Pow er Amplifier if the output sockets are left unconnected!

Card Thickness
The F52N-PRO has the same thickness as our previous cards and other competitors cards. The thickness has not changed as it is still a 4 layer PCB. After testing, the insertion into the Routerboard should be the same as every other card out on the market.

1x1 N Chain Rate Information

11a/11g = 54Mbps in 20MHz 11n = 65Mbps in 20MHz 11a/11g = 108Mbps in 40MHz 11n = 135-150Mbps in 40MHz

2x2 N Chain Information

Each chain is +25dBm. The combined total is +28dBm Example 25dBm transmit and 21dBi antenna W hatever rates w here 2 chain combined pow er is less than +25dBm should be OK. W hat rates follow this, you can use the numbers from the datasheet. 2 Chain Pow er = 1 Chain Pow er + 3dBm (2 Chains < 25dBm) ==> (1 Chain <22dBm) ==> (1 Chain <18dBm, considering 5dB offset w e use)

Example "N" setup using Mikrotik routerboard

Parent should be : AP Bridge or Bridge w ith w ds enabled Band only N Select any channel Under the data rate change it from Default to configured and uncheck all the values a/b/g Select the mcs rating manually ( For example if you w ant to set the data rate @ MSC12 - select only MCS12 uncheck rest. This has to be applied to HT supported and HT Basics too. Select the protocol as "nv2" or "nstream" Adjust the TDMA period, Cell Radius, Queue count and QoS under the NV2 to get the best result (that's all I did from the Parent side.)

Child Should be : Station w ds and w ds enabled Need to select the same channel and HT ext channel as it is in Parent Under Data Rates just select configured and uncheck all the a/b/g data rates and enable all MCS in HT supported and HT Basics Adjust the pow er rating of the radio Enable both the chains Adjust the pow er setting and enable the HT Extension channel Rest w ill be sync w ith Parent Now check the status of signal level and CCQ quality If CCQ is more than 90% you w ill get the expected result.
