Abstract As the name indicate, DC Power Supply gives us DC output from AC input, actually this phenomenon is called Full Wave Rectification of a AC signal or sine wave. After this rectification we get a DC signal for our instruments running on dc supply.

I. INTRODUCTION

HIS Variable DC Power Supply is capable to give different outputs of dc voltage ranging from -12volt to +12volt and it can also give constant output of -5volt and +5volt. In this project we used a full wave rectifier IC which is a Bridge IC and also we used regulators for voltage outputs. The main component is step-down transformer which accept the 220volt AC current and step-down it to DC current.

Making of Power Supply First of all we make the schematic diagram of our electronic circuit and simulate it to check any error in the circuitry. After this we make PCB layout of this circuit and print it on Butter paper. Then we cleaned our PCB board with scotch brite which gave it a shiny look and removed oxy layer from it. Then put the butter paper on PCB board and gave it heat by electric iron. For few minutes we pressed it with iron. Then remove the butter paper from it by using water. Then we prepared a solution of FeCl3 and dip the PCB board with layout printed on it, into the solution. This solution helps to remove copper from PCB board except printed layout. Then we remove black ink from the circuit. After this we had a final PCB layout for further processing. After preparing our PCB board, we done drilling on PCB board then put the components on it and then done soldering to attach the components with PCB board. After this we

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Our DC Power Supply uses full wave rectification with the help of Bridge IC which rectifies the input AC signal to DC signal. Besides this transformer which we used is step-down transformer which step-down the input signal for use in this circuit. Here we are using a voltage regulator which gives constant voltage; here we are using 7805 which give 5volts. These regulators are available in various outputs like 6v, 9v, 12v and 15v. Now the main task is to get variable output, for this we used the pair of voltage divider resistors to increase the output of the regulator and in which resistance is variable so when we increase or decrease the value of that resistor the output voltage of the regulator will also change, as the result we get the variable voltage. In this circuit we used four capacitor, 4700uF capacitors are used to get constant input to the regulators moreover it also help to reduce the sharp peaks in the output. 1uF capacitors are used to reduce the noise and also help to reduce the ripples produce by the regulators so that regulated output has less ripples. We used these four regulators IC s: 78L05 for constant positive output

IV. CONCLUSION Finally we completed our project successfully which give constant dc output of +5volt and -5volt and also give variable output ranging from -12volt to +12volt. This DC Power Supply can be used in any instrument which needs above described voltage values. 79L05 for constant negative output
