These camps make science come alive! Girls only science camps are also offered. An active learning camp that gives kids a taste of university life, and uses real university labs and facilities to experiment and create. Fun active camps for kids who want to move and have fun this summer, but arent really the competitive type.

Swing, toss, serve, swerve, run and have fun on the court this summer! Learn proper technique and the tricks of the trade, individually and as a group, in these interactive half day tennis and squash camps. Forget playing video games this summer. Expand your childs horizons this summer with our famous Mini University PHD Program. A variety of one and two week programs are offered that are sure to interest everyone in your family. Our instructors incorporate grade-specific Alberta Learning curricular objectives into fun, hands-on activities. At least one third of the Mini University camp experience is devoted to age appropriate physical activities, promoting healthy growth and development. Want to be a better basketball player? Dinos Basketball Camps are the perfect place to improve your skills, get active and compete against other players around Calgary. Participants will benefit from technical training and will be coached by current and former Dinos athletes and coaches alongside respected coaches from the community - ensuring an outstanding learning atmosphere. Participants will learn basketball fundamentals and techniques, conditioning methods and team-play tactics. Camp culminates with a fun tournament to finish off the week. Participants will receive a Dinos basketball, camp t-shirt, water bottle, lunch on Friday as well as a chance to win camp prizes.

Is it your dream to play pro football? Get a head start by attending a Dinos Football Camp designed for beginners in the sport! Youll receive an outstanding level of instruction from two-time defending Canada West champ Dinos coaches, players, and alumni, alongside terrific Calgary and area high school coaches, who will push you to your limit while making the camp enjoyable. Players will go through conditioning drills; learn individual position fundamentals and techniques as well as offensive and defensive team play tactics. $220, 3 day camps July 22, 23, 24 from 8:30am - 4:00pm Please Note: The Dinos football program will be providing equipment for both of our FULL-CONTACT camps on a limited basis during an evening session leading up to the first day of camp. There will be a $50 fee ($250.00 initial deposit) for this rental. It is suggested to keep alternative means of acquiring equipment in mind, as gear will go on a first-come-first-served basis on the evening of rental. More information will be provided about the dates and times of this service as the camp approaches. DiNOS CAMPS HOCKEy DEvELOPMENT


Want to be a better hockey player? Dinos Hockey Camps are the perfect place to improve. Experience world class coaching at a Dinos Hockey School this summer! With former NHLers Cory Cross and Brad Isbister joining Dinos Head Coach Mark Howell to lead the boys camps and twotime Olympic Gold Medallist and Dinos Womens Head Coach Danielle Goyette running the girls camps, there is sure to be a high level of instruction on the ice! On-ice you will develop your individual skills and learn advanced team play and tactics. Off-ice you will participate in a variety of dry-land training activities, team-building games and video sessions. All participants will receive a Dinos camp practice jersey, on-site sports therapy and supervised lunches. Camps are held at the Olympic Ovals premium athletic facilities.

These camps are for all skill levels (never played, beginner to intermediate). You will practice skill development from basic to more advanced technical shots. Participants will receive instruction and practice the fundamentals of the game, develop skills, enhance ball control, practice and tune up stroke techniques, learn effective practice drills and court etiquette. There will be lots of fun activities develop friendship and camaraderie.

Tennis is a very popular outdoor and indoor sport for all ages. The University of Calgary Youth Tennis program is in its 7th year and continues to grow each year. Due to the camps success, more classes and new ages groups have been added to the program. Participants are encouraged to register early as classes fill up and spots are limited (16 players per class). Instructors Qualifications: Tennis coach has 6 years of teaching youth tennis camps and was provincially ranked in the top 10.

Squash is a year-round game that is very popular, fun to play and is a great workout. The University of Calgary Youth Squash program is in its 3rd year and continues to attract more youth players each year (16 players per class). Instructors Qualifications: Squash coach has his Level 2 coaching and many years of experience teaching youth and adult programs at the University of Calgary and other Calgary private clubs.

Need to Fill Up your Childs Day?

Campus Recreation is offering participants in the Youth Tennis or Squash Camps a unique opportunity this summer to participate at the same time in one of the Campus Recreation Mini University Summer Camps. If you would like your child to participate in another 1/2 Day Camp before or after the Tennis Camp, you have the opportunity to register them in one of the below Mini University camps at a discounted rate. If you are interested in the 1 Week program, your child would do Tennis Camp for half of the day and the other half of the day at the Mini University Multi Sport program. If you are interested in the 2 Week program, your child would do a 1 Week full days at a Mini University Artist, Scientist or Future World Leader camp. The other week, your child would do the Tennis Camp for half of the day and the Mini University program for the other half of the day. There would be lunch supervision provided in between camps and your child would be escorted to the next camp. Pre-care and After-Care is available for a small fee.

Gaming and Animation: Essentials


(Grades 7 12)
This is a two-week, 60-hour summer camp that will keep you on the edge of your seat as you learn the essentials of gaming and animation. This camp gives you everything you need to build a game from scratch learning the principles of game design and development. Students learn how to create dynamically moving enemies, add event listeners, deal with case sensitivity, determine a win or loss in a game, create additional features and artificial intelligence. Youll learn the vital necessary skills, including ActionScript 3.0, movie clip manipulation, responding to user actions with variables, writing functions and conditional operators, working with classes, text and arrays, as well as advanced graphic / animation tools, and advanced interactivity. Youll also learn the basic creative components like digital imagery, drawing and animation using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and Flash CS3. Dont be fooled by imitators, this is the camp that gives you the tools, skills and knowledge you need to build games and create animation that will unleash your creative and technical powers! Graphic Design: Essentials


(Grades 7 12)
If youve always wanted to express your creativite and artistic talents with pixels weve got the perfect course for you! This intense, 60 hour, two week course teaches you the essentials of graphic design and visual communication. From a small candy wrapper, to a tube of toothpaste, to a giant billboard, youll learn the basic, creative components of digital imagery and drawing. Youll also learn about influential designers, the history and theoretical aspects of graphic design, basic colour, image and typographic theory, and how to effectively organize and present information in your designs. As you learn skills in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, your projects may include: Editorial (magazine and newspaper) design, book design, typography, brand identity, packaging and web design. Activities and projects will include: newspaper layouts, personalized menu creation, book covers, flip books, monograms, letter form creation, posters, CD covers, decals/stickers, personal logo, stationary sets, package set and interface layouts. By the end of this camp youll have the tools, skills and knowledge you need to unleash your creative and technical powers in graphic design and visual communication. Gaming and Animation: Advanced

Get ready to take your gaming and animation skills to the next level with this epic, two-week, 60hour summer. Youll go beyond basic gaming as you learn to develop sophisticated games and animation using ActionScript and Adobe Flash CS3. In this camp youll fully explore ActionScripts most powerful features, including creating advanced special effects like explosions and smoke, making versatile particle classes that control particle movement, gravity, friction, spin, rotation, fading, scaling, and other movement effects. Students will also learn the animation and storytelling aspects of Flash, from animating objects to manipulating animation. The course will also teach you how to apply advanced text techniques such as animating scrolling text with custom easing controls, and using advanced animation techniques. When youre ready to take your game to the next level,: Advanced Gaming and Animation summer camp is ready to give you the tools, skills and knowledge you need to get there! Day Camp
Learn to kayak in this three-day beginner teen camp. An introductory pool class gets you warmed up for an afternoon of skill development on the lake. Then on to the Bow River for a day of moving water skills, and finish off with a taste of whitewater on a full-day run from Ghost Dam to Cochrane (west of Calgary). Prerequisite: The ability to swim 25m. Includes: all kayak gear, a wetsuit & transportation. July 28 30 Fee: $295 Taught by trained guides, these three-day and two-night expedition-style camps emphasize leadership and sport-specific skills. Teens plan their trip during a mandatory pre-trip meeting with the help of expert guides. Each camp includes: all activity-specific gear, tents, and cooking equipment (except mountain bikes which can be rented at a discounted price). Food is not included in any of the trips; however, food planning will be discussed during pre-trip meeting. Note: No experience necessary.

Soar and More Day Camp

Go whitewater rafting and spend three days on some of the most popular whitewater rivers close to Calgary! Learn about paddle strokes, water safety, river reading, and navigation through rapids from a real raft guide. Well be heading to the Kananaskis or Red Deer River for more whitewater excitement. Interested in flying? Learn about the exciting world of windsports including hang gliding, paragliding, and traction kiting. Through classroom and practical instruction, participants learn the basics of how to fly each of these crafts. The amount of time spent on each activity is wind-dependent and participants must be at least 5 feet tall and weigh 90 pounds. All camps include: all gear and instruction. No experience necessary. Welcome to the world of multi-day canoe tripping! Learn about paddle strokes, water safety, river reading, navigation through rapids, and how to pack for a multi-day canoe trip from a real canoe guide. Olympic Oval - Absolute Speed Camp


(Ages 5 17)
Were you inspired by the speed skaters during the 2010 Olympic Games? Would you like to try the sport and create your own Olympic dream? Then have we got the camp for you! Absolute Speed is the perfect introduction to speed skating. On-ice and off-ice, youll learn to train like an Olympian with dry land training games, exercises, speed skating imitations, flexibility and agility training. Youll train where Canadas top athletes train, on the worlds fastest ice under the supervision of high-performance sport coaches. Youll also meet Olympians and national team athletes, and hear about what it takes to fulfill your dream! Camp culminates with a fun race on the last day! All participants receive a camp t-shirt. Better hockey or ringette begins with better skating! If you want to improve your game, Olympic Oval power skating classes are the way to start! These weeklong, evening classes focus on the skills youll need to take your game to the next level. The hour long classes will improve your skating stride, agility, balance and coordination. If you want to improve your skating, you should learn from the best, and the Ovals qualified instructors are some of the worlds best. $165, Novice, Atom, Peewee, and Bantam, 60 minute ice sessions, Monday Friday, see below for times. Participants must bring their own skates, sticks and full hockey/ringette equipment These camps are geared for players with one or more years of hockey and ringette experience.
