Expand your childs horizons this summer with our famous Mini University PHD Program. A variety of one and two week programs are offered that are sure to interest everyone in your family. Our instructors incorporate grade-specific Alberta Learning curricular objectives into fun, hands-on activities. At least one third of the Mini University camp experience is devoted to age appropriate physical activities, promoting healthy growth and development. Such activities include: gymnastics, pool time, team sports and games. Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 4:30pm.

Youll receive an outstanding level of instruction from two-time defending Canada West champ Dinos coaches, players, and alumni, alongside terrific Calgary and area high school coaches, who will push you to your limit while making the camp enjoyable. Players will go through conditioning drills; learn individual position fundamentals and techniques as well as offensive and defensive team play tactics. $220, 3 day camps July 19, 20, 21 from 8:30am - 4:00pm

These camps are for all skill levels (never played, beginner to intermediate). You will practice skill development from basic to more advanced technical shots. Participants will receive instruction and practice the fundamentals of the game, develop skills, enhance ball control, practice and tune up stroke techniques, learn effective practice drills and court etiquette. There will be lots of fun activities develop friendship and camaraderie.

Campus Recreation is offering participants in the Youth Tennis or Squash Camps a unique opportunity this summer to participate at the same time in one of the Campus Recreation Mini University Summer Camps. If you would like your child to participate in another 1/2 Day Camp before or after the Tennis Camp, you have the opportunity to register them in one of the below Mini University camps at a discounted rate. If you are interested in the 1 Week program, your child would do Tennis Camp for half of the day and the other half of the day at the Mini University Multi Sport program. If you are interested in the 2 Week program, your child would do a 1 Week full days at a Mini University Artist, Scientist or Future World Leader camp. The other week, your child would do the Tennis Camp for half of the day and the Mini University program for the other half of the day. There would be lunch supervision provided in between camps and your child would be escorted to the next camp. Pre-care and After-Care is available for a small fee.

Get ready to take your gaming and animation skills to the next level with this epic, two-week, 60hour summer. Youll go beyond basic gaming as you learn to develop sophisticated games and animation using ActionScript and Adobe Flash CS3. In this camp youll fully explore ActionScripts most powerful features, including creating advanced special effects like explosions and smoke, making versatile particle classes that control particle movement, gravity, friction, spin, rotation, fading, scaling, and other movement effects. Students will also learn the animation and storytelling aspects of Flash, from animating objects to manipulating animation. The course will also teach you how to apply advanced text techniques such as animating scrolling text with custom easing controls, and using advanced animation techniques. Its like the Tour de France for kids, but way more funand in Calgary! Kids spend the day biking along Calgarys extensive pathways, visiting kid-friendly places around the city, swimming and playing games. Adventurers cycle about 5 to 15 kilometres each day and Explorers cycle about 5 to 25 kilometres per day. While, kids will definitely burn a lot of energy and sleep well at night, these distances are very achievable for everyone! Note: A bike is required for this camp, and campers should be able to ride a bike. Camp includes: qualified instruction and tickets to city attractions. Discover the thrill of fishing! Each day kids visit a new lake or pond around the city or in Kananaskis Country in their quest to catch a fish. Kids get a chance to learn about fishing techniques, the best places to find fish, how to identify species of fish, and they also learn about wildlife and the outdoors. Some fishing holes can only be found by hiking to them, so kids should be ready for a fun fishing adventure! Note: Price does not include fishing rods. TEEN DAy CAMPS (GRADES 8-12) TEEN ExPEDiTiON CAMPS (GRADES 8-12) Get into Kayaking
Day Camp
Learn to kayak in this three-day beginner teen camp. An introductory pool class gets you warmed up for an afternoon of skill development on the lake. Then on to the Bow River for a day of moving water skills, and finish off with a taste of whitewater on a full-day run from Ghost Dam to Cochrane (west of Calgary). Prerequisite: The ability to swim 25m. Includes: all kayak gear, a wetsuit & transportation. July 28 30 Fee: $295 Taught by trained guides, these three-day and two-night expedition-style camps emphasize leadership and sport-specific skills. Teens plan their trip during a mandatory pre-trip meeting with the help of expert guides. Each camp includes: all activity-specific gear, tents, and cooking equipment (except mountain bikes which can be rented at a discounted price). Food is not included in any of the trips; however, food planning will be discussed during pre-trip meeting. Note: No experience necessary.
Rafting Expedition
Go whitewater rafting and spend three days on some of the most popular whitewater rivers close to Calgary! Learn about paddle strokes, water safety, river reading, and navigation through rapids from a real raft guide. Well be heading to the Kananaskis or Red Deer River for more whitewater excitement. Note: Rivers chosen are dependent on water levels. Camp includes: rafting guides, rafts, rafting gear, tents, stoves, pots and transportation. No experience necessary. July 7 9 Fee: $295
Interested in flying? Learn about the exciting world of windsports including hang gliding, paragliding, and traction kiting. Through classroom and practical instruction, participants learn the basics of how to fly each of these crafts. The amount of time spent on each activity is wind-dependent and participants must be at least 5 feet tall and weigh 90 pounds. All camps include: all gear and instruction. No experience necessary. Canoeing Expedition
Welcome to the world of multi-day canoe tripping! Learn about paddle strokes, water safety, river reading, navigation through rapids, and how to pack for a multi-day canoe trip from a real canoe guide. Depending on water levels, canoeists will paddle the Milk, North Saskatchewan, Lower Bow, or Lower Red Deer River. Camp includes: experienced canoe guides, canoes, canoe-specific gear, tents, stoves, pots and transportation. No experience necessary. July 21 23 Fee: $285
backpacking Expedition
Reach new heights, outdoors! Climb popular beginner routes such as Wasootch, Yamnuska Bluffs, and Heart Creek in Kananaskis Country each day. Have fun as you learn basic climbing skills including how to belay, climbing calls, climbing movement, and rappelling. Instructed by ACMG guides. All camps include: all climbing gear. Head out to Kananaskis Country for three days of backpacking in the mountains! Learn about route finding, navigation, shelter-building, wilderness survival, animal safety, and what to bring on a backpacking trip from experienced backpacking guides. Get ready to work up a sweat as you explore the ups and downs of Kananaskis Countrys exciting mountain bike trails. Learn about trail selection, bike repair and maintenance, outdoor skills, and navigation from a mountain biking guide. Camp includes: experienced mountain bike guides/instructors, tents, stoves, pots and transportation, plus a 10% discount on bike rentals. No mountain biking experience necessary. Get ready to create your very own BLOCKBUSTER with University of Calgarys Directors Cut Workshops. Express your imagination and creativity using the latest in digital technology in one of our amazing Hollywood style media workshops featuring: Stop motion animation, clay-mation, feature film making, comic book production and Music Video Production. Besides creating the film of your choice (see below) our fun and zany camps include: the crazy pie fight, the Amazing Digital Race, a swim in the pool and our newest summer activitiy called !. Just when you think the wild Hollywood ride is all done... we whisk you and your crew off in our Yellow limousine (aka school bus) to Cineplex Theatres to see one of Hollywoods summer blockbusters. On Friday, invite your family for some food, film and fun at the DC Film Festival at the end of every camp.
