INTRODUCTION The failure of neoliberal economic and ideological model has resulted in the greatest economic and social crisis of recent decades. Crisis that in our case it acquires its own meaning, marking the end of Spanish capitalism cycle resulting from the transition. End of cycle of a dominant accumulation model in our country and the political and institutional superstructure heir of the post-Franco. At European level, the failure of the Lisbon Strategy 2000-2010 is evident. The pursuit of economic integration of the EU in the world market through a commitment to science policy, has given way to a competitive strategy based on dismantling the welfare state. Despite its failure, neoliberalism and its political expressions impose a solution to the crisis over the implementation of adjustment programs aimed at overcoming the problems of accumulation, by strong social cuts, deepening insecurity labor and the oligarchic character of our political system. From the above it is clear government policy for the scientific and academic under the leadership of private initiative and support more dependent transnationalization of the Spanish economy, through the devaluation of skilled labor, the perpetuation of the precarious condition of young researcher, budget cuts, a science policy in favor of markets, advancing and retreating commercialization of university autonomy. Adjustment programs that are linked to a questioning of the social conception of science and the university as an instrument of progress and equality, and its replacement by a narrow view of scientific work and the role of universities as mere tools for the private capital, perpetuating a political and productive system already exhausted. Public service or commercialization, this is the root of the alternatives in dispute in the context of science and the university. Dispute that requires the active involvement of scientists, researchers and teachers in a long-range serious debate and , with the world of work, students and social movements in favor of a social alternative to the crisis. From the Marxist Research Foundation (FIM), and in collaboration with the European Left Party, we want to open a permanent space for debate from the left transformative and Marxism, which, like a seminar, approaches the crisis of science and University in Spain and Europe. 17:45 Break 18:00 TABLE 2. PRESENTACIN El fracaso del modelo econmico e ideolgico neoliberal ha trado como consecuencia la mayor crisis econmica y social de las ltimas dcadas. Crisis que adquiere en nuestro caso un significado propio, al marcar el fin de ciclo del capitalismo espaol resultante de la Transicin. Fin de ciclo que supone un agotamiento del modelo de acumulacin dominante en nuestro pas y de la superestructura poltica e institucional heredera del post-franquismo. A nivel europeo, el fracaso de la Estrategia Lisboa 2000-2010 es evidente. La bsqueda de una insercin econmica de la UE en el mercado mundial a travs de la apuesta por una poltica cientfica, ha dado paso a una estrategia competitiva basada en el desmantelamiento del Estado social. A pesar de su fracaso, el neoliberalismo y sus expresiones polticas imponen una salida a la crisis en torno a la aplicacin de programas de ajuste, cuyo objetivo es superar los problemas de acumulacin existentes, por medio de fuertes recortes sociales, la profundizacin de la precariedad laboral y del carcter oligrquico de nuestro sistema poltico. De lo anterior se desprende una poltica gubernamental para el mbito cientfico y acadmico bajo el protagonismo de la iniciativa privada y el apoyo a una mayor transnacionalizacin dependiente de la economa espaola, por medio de la desvalorizacin del trabajo cualificado, la perpetuacin de la condicin precaria del joven investigador, los recortes presupuestarios, una poltica cientfica a favor de los mercados, el avance de la mercantilizacin y el retroceso de la autonoma universitaria. Programas de ajuste que van unidos a un cuestionamiento de la concepcin social de la ciencia y de la universidad como instrumentos de progreso e igualdad, y su sustitucin por una visin estrecha de la labor cientfica y del papel de la universidad como meras herramientas en favor del capital privado, perpetuadoras de un modelo poltico y productivo ya agotados. Servicio pblico o mercantilizacin, sta es la raz de las alternativas en disputa en el marco de la ciencia y de la universidad. Disputa que requiere de la implicacin activa de cientficos, investigadores y docentes en un debate serio y de largo alcance, junto al mundo del trabajo, estudiantes y movimientos sociales, en favor de una alternativa social a la crisis. Desde la Fundacin de Investigaciones Marxistas (FIM), y en colaboracin con Partido de la Izquierda Europea, se pretende abrir un espacio permanente desde la izquierda transformadora y el marxismo, que ha modo de seminario, aborde la crisis de la ciencia y de la universidad en Espaa y Europa.
