ULTREYA!
A PILGRIMAGE ALONG THE CAMINO DE SANTIAGO
May 14-30, 2008
For 1200 years, pilgrims have walked the Camino de Santiago seeking healing, forgiveness and spiritual growth. This beautiful and historic route across northern Spain still beckons. Here is your opportunity to participate in this spiritual and very physical journey under the guidance of Donald Schell and Robbin Clark, two experienced priests and pilgrim leaders. Donald has walked the Camino three times and published a book on his experience of it. Robbin has organized and led six previous pilgrimages to the British Isles and New Zealand and has explored the Camino by car. Logistics for our trip will be arranged and supported by veteran pilgrimage organizer Judy Colaneri and her team at Spanish Steps, who have led seventy groups along the Camino over the last 12 years. We will walk as pilgrims, but with extensive support. May 14, 2008 our group will gather in Bilbao, home of the world famous Guggenheim Museum and a center of cultural renewal on the north coast of Spain. Participants are responsible for getting themselves to this meeting point. Well gather for a welcome dinner and orientation at our hotel in Bilbao. Then May 1528 will see us making our way along the Camino. Each day will feature longer and shorter walking options as well as visits to holy and historic places. Well take advantage of cultural and scenic attractions along the way, which leads from the Basque country of the Pyrenees through Pamplona and the famous Rioja wine region and into the green hills of Galicia, the heart of Celtic Spain. Our luggage will be transported for us, and our rest each

night will be in hotels and country inns. Well enjoy the local cuisine in a combination of group dinners, picnics and independent meals. Prayer and worship options will be provided daily, including the Holy Eucharist at sacred sites along the way. Our journey is planned to allow participants to gain the Compostela, the official document of recognition of those who have completed the pilgrimage by walking no less than the final 100 kilometers, though some may choose not to do so. Non-walkers will enjoy other pursuits along the way. Upon our arrival in Santiago on May 28, we will complete our pilgrim formalities and relax in our elegant accommodation in a restored Franciscan monastery. The following morning, we will have a guided tour of this historic city. The trip concludes with a farewell banquet and overnight in Santiago. Participants will make their own arrangements for continued travel or return home as of May 30. Reserve your place now for this exciting seventeen-day adventure by returning the attached sign-up sheet with your deposit of $500 per person. Full payment of $3,850 is due by February 15, 2008. This pilgrimage is limited to 28 persons. A few single occupancy spaces will be available for an additional $500/person. This cost includes all lodging and ground transportation, luggage transfers, selected sightseeing excursions, all breakfasts, ten dinners and several lunches, as well as the pilgrim Credencial and other materials. Airfare is not included. We are happy to recommend a local travel agent to assist you with your air arrangements to and from Spain, if you wish. Travel insurance (in case of your need to cancel) is recommended and can be obtained through a travel agent. Deposits are not refundable but can be transferred to another participant. Note: Should exchange rates change significantly, we reserve the right to impose a proportional surcharge.
