Tafsir
Shaykh 'Abdur Rahman as-Sa'dee said about the previous verse:

= : them" "And those who came after them

Meaningfrom after Sahaabah [i.e. companions of the Prophet ] and the An'sar:

"Saying" aying
Upon a sincere way for themselves and for the rest of the believers:

< Faith. "Our Lord! Forgive us and our brethren, who have preceded us in Faith."
This supplication is comprehensive for all the believers that proceeded (them) from the companions, those who came before them and after them. This is from the moral excellence of Emaanthat the believers benefit each other, supplicating for one another due to their partnership in Emaan that mandates the bond of brotherhood among the believers which from its branches (of brotherhood) is that they supplicate for one another and have love for one another.

For this reason Allah had mentioned in the supplication the negation of Gilla [i.e. malice and rancor] from the hearts in this includes the little of it as well as the abundancy of it. In which [i.e. principles of Tafsir] when something is negated it affirms the opposite by definition it is love, friendship and meaning well among the believers. Thus Allah had distinguished those who came after the companions with having Emaan [i.e. Faith] because of their statement:

Faith." "Who have preceded us in Faith

This is an evidence to the partnership is Emaan and that they followed the companions regarding doctrine of faith and its principlesthey are Ahlu-Sunnah wal-Jama'ah whom Allah hasn't prove to be a complete quality to be true [of anyone]except for upon them. Allah has described them with confirming their sins and their seeking forgiveness from that, for their seeking forgiveness for each other, their striving in removing malice, rancor and resentment from the hearts of their believing brothers. Because their supplication of that is a prerequisite for what we had previously mentioned, including the love among each otherthat he loves for his brother that which he loves for himself, to mean well for him [his brother] who is present, absent, alive, or deceased.

This noble verse indicates in summary to the rights of the believers among each other. Afterwards they concluded their supplication with the two noble names [i.e. Ra'oof and Raheem] of Allah as an indication of His complete mercy, His intense compassion and beneficence to the believers. Which in summary, rather it is evident that the believers prosperity towards establishing the rights of Allah and His servants. Therefore these individuals are the three classes of this Ummah who are deserving of being granted a reward which its pathway returns to the betterment of Islam. They are the possessors of that [betterment]. May Allah make us among them by way of His blessings and generosity.
