Independence Day of India Introduction India is our home country .

We are all living in Independent India where we have right to talk, write and express our anger in a peaceful way. But before the year 1947 we were under the British rule and all our basic fundamental rights were denied. Our forefathers struggled a lot during that period and under the leadership of Mahathma Gandhiji and Pundit Nehruji our forefathers fight a lot for the freedom of India through peaceful way( Ahimsa) and finally the British agreed to give freedom to India on August 15 1947. Indias historical facts. The history of India begins with human settlement that has been confirmed to over 9000 years ago. The Indus valley civilization flourished in the north western part of India from 3300 BC to 1300 BC . Harappan civilization also lasted from 2600 BC to 1900 BC. There were lots of kingdoms in India and most part of India came under one roof during fourth and third centuries under the Maurya Empire. Later it became fragmented, with various parts ruled by numerous kingdoms for the next 1500 years. This period up to 18th century is known as the classical period of India. Most part of India was again united during the Mughal rule. But even then there were more than hundred independent kingdoms in India such as Vijayanagara Empire , Maratha Empire. Beginning in the 18th century and over the next century India was gradually annexed by the British East India Company . Dissatisfaction with company rule led to the First war of Indian independence .Later India was directly administered by the British crown and witnessed a period of both rapid development of infrastructure and economic decline . Independence During the first half of the 20th century , a nationwide struggle for Independence was launched by the Indian National Congress under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhiji. Gandhiji used the Ahimsa (Peaceful) way for the fight against British.. Finally India gained Independence from the British on August 15, 1947 along with Pakistan. India is the only country gained independence without violence. Independence Day celebrations. Indias Independence Day is celebrated on 15 August to commemorate its Independence from British rule and its birth as a sovereign nation.. The day is a national holiday in India. All over the country, flag-hoisting ceremonies are conducted by the local administration in attendance. The main event takes place in New Delhi, where the prime Minister hoists the National Flag at the Red Fort and delivers a nationally televised speech from its ramparts. In his speech, he highlights the achievements of his government during the past year, raises important issues and gives a call for further development. The

Prime Minister also pays his tribute to leaders of the freedom struggle. A colorful pageant showcasing Indias cultural diversity, symbolic depictions of the countrys advances in science and technology, and a joint display of Indias military capabilities by the armed forces are an essential part of the Independence Day celebrations. Schools and colleges around the country organizes flag hoisting ceremonies and various cultural events within their premises. Younger school children wear costumes of their favorite characters of the independence era. Most national and regional television channels screen old and new film classics with patriotic themes on Independence Day. Conclusion With so much of struggle our forefathers got us Independence and it is our duty respect their sacrifice. Also we take care of nation in such a way that it should not go foreigners hand again. Jai Hind
