LITURGY OF THE WORD

First Reading: Lector: A reading from the Book of Ezekiel [Ez 18: 21 - 28] Thus says the Lord GOD: If the wicked man turns away from all the sins he committed, if he keeps all my statutes and does what is right and just, he shall surely live, he shall not die. None of the crimes he committed shall be remembered against him; he shall live because of the virtue he has practiced. Do I indeed derive any pleasure from the death of the wicked? says the Lord GOD. Do I not rather rejoice when he turns from his evil way that he may live? And if the virtuous man turns from the path of virtue to do evil, the same kind of abominable things that the wicked man does, can he do this and still live? None of his virtuous deeds shall be remembered,

because he has broken faith and committed sin; because of this, he shall die. You say, The LORDs way is not fair! Hear now, house of Israel: Is it my way that is unfair, or rather, are not your ways unfair? When someone virtuous turns away from virtue to commit iniquity, and dies, it is because of the iniquity he committed that he must die. But if the wicked, turning from the wickedness he has committed, does what is right and just, he shall preserve his life; since he has turned away from all the sins that he committed, he shall surely live, he shall not die. Lector: The Word of the Lord. All: Thanks be to God! Responsorial Psalm: Lector: If you, O Lord, mark iniquities, who can stand? All: If you, O Lord, mark iniquities, who can stand? 1) Out of the depths I cry to you, O LORD; LORD, hear my voice! Let your ears be attentive to my voice in supplication. (Response) 2) If you, O LORD, mark iniquities, LORD, who can stand? But with you is forgiveness, that you may be revered. (Response) 3) I trust in the LORD; my soul trusts in his word. My soul waits for the LORD more than sentinels wait for the dawn. Let Israel wait for the LORD. (Response) 4) For with the LORD is kindness and with him is plenteous redemption; And he will redeem Israel from all their iniquities. (Response) Alleluia or Gospel Acclamation: [The Alleluia may be repeated two or more times, especially during the Easter Season. If it is not sung, it should be omitted] Gospel: Priest: The Lord be with you. All: And also with you. Priest: A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew. All: Glory to you, Lord!

Jesus said to his disciples: I tell you, unless your righteousness surpasses that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will not enter into the Kingdom of heaven. You have heard that it was said to your ancestors, You shall not kill; and whoever kills will be liable to judgment. But I say to you, whoever is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment, and whoever says to his brother, Raqa, will be answerable to the Sanhedrin, and whoever says, You fool, will be liable to fiery Gehenna. Therefore, if you bring your gift to the altar, and there recall that your brother has anything against you, leave your gift there at the altar, go first and be reconciled with your brother, and then come and offer your gift. Settle with your opponent quickly while on the way to court. Otherwise your opponent will hand you over to the judge, and the judge will hand you over to the guard, and you will be thrown into prison. Amen, I say to you, you will not be released until you have paid the last penny. Priest: The Gospel of the Lord. All: Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ! Commentator: Let us all be seated for the Homily. Homily: [After the homily.] Commentator: Please stand for the Prayers of the Faithful. Profession of Faith: I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven,

and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. Prayers of the Faithful: Priest: My dear brothers and sisters let us turn to the Lord with confidence and faith to his power. R - Lord, hear our prayer. R - Lord, hear our prayer. 1) For the Holy Church that we may trust in Christ and become one vigorous, fruitful community so that the world may see one king of glory and one kingdom of God. Let us pray to the lord. (R) 2) That our beloved school the UERMMMCI may continue to carry out its vision and mission in producing world-class and competent health care professionals under one guidance of the Holy Spirit. Let us pray to the Lord. (R) 3) For all who are trying to hand on faith and good moral conduct to the younger generations, especially the teachers may they lead people with compassion and true guidance based on the gospel of Jesus and be examples themselves through the life they live. Let us pray to the Lord. (R) 4) For the students to see Your will, and touch that part within us where the insight and strength resides so that we may do Your will in all our endeavours, in all our affairs, and humbly in Your Ever-Lasting Grace. You are our Light and Delight, my Lord. We commit mistakes, and humbly beseech you that we may put Your will into action. Let us pray to the Lord. (R) 5) Priest: Lord God, hear our voices and the prayers we offer. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen Commentator: Let us all be seated for the Liturgy of the Eucharist.

When supper was ended, he took the cup. Again he gave the cup to his disciples, and said: Take this, all of you, and drink from it: this is the cup of my blood, the blood of the new and everlasting covenant. Look with favor on these offerings and accept them as once you accepted the gifts of your servant Abel, the sacrifice of Abraham, our father in faith, and the bread and wine offered by your priest Melchisedech. Then as we receive from this altar the sacred body and blood of your Son, let us be filled with every grace and blessing. Through Christ our Lord. All: Amen.
