Report Of Presentation On Educational Technology:Introduction

Firstly we started to search on the technology which used in todays education system and the difference between technologies which is used in many years ego. We found many techniques which have been used in past but from all of them we added important technologies in our presentation. We prepared a note to define the educational technology and as we defined the term technology conjures up visions of things such as computers, cell phones, spaceships, digital video players, computer games, advanced military equipment, and other highly sophisticated machines. While this focus on devices and machines seems to be very prevalent among the general population, many educators also hold a similar perspective. Since Pressed developed the first teaching machine in 1926 (Nazzaro, 1977), technology applications in public schools and post-secondary education institutions have tended to focus on the acquisition and use of equipment such as film projectors, audio and video tape recorders, overhead projectors, and computers. Educational technology is the study and ethical practice of facilitating learning and improving performance by creating, using and managing appropriate technological processes and resources. The term educational technology is often associated with, and encompasses, Instructional Theory and Learning Theory. Technology of education is most simply and comfortably defined as an array of tools that might prove helpful in advancing student learning and may be measured in how and why individuals behave. Educational Technology relies on a broad definition of the word "technology." Technology can refer to material objects of use to humanity, such as machines or hardware, but it can also encompass broader themes, including systems, methods of organization, and techniques. Some modern tools include but are not limited to overhead

projectors, laptop computers, and calculators. Newer tools such as "smartphones" and games (both online and offline) are beginning to draw serious attention for their learning potential. Media psychology is the field of study that applies theories in human behavior to educational technology.

Objectives:
y To identify events and devices of the past that contributed to the technological revolution. y To examine the organizations and their viewpoints that have shaped technology use in the classroom today. y To prepare for the future in educational technology by analyzing current trends and advances.

Key Words:
Key word means those words of technology which have used in the education for teaching, for study . these are the some main word we have found for educational technology y Blackboards y Technology tools : includes PCs, Software, devices with removable storage, LCD, OHP etc. y Effective learning y Evolution through computer based learning

y PPT : Power point presentation.

Educational Technology

Our Definition: We have defined educational technology in this definitionA combination of the processes and tools involved in addressing educational needs and problems, with an emphasis on applying the most current tools: computers and their related technologies.

Old techniques used in education: In past what technologies used in education we have to describe it first because the evolution in technology cannot be described without knowing the past of that technology. y Blackboard y Slate y Mainframe Computer Systems :-First instructional use of computers was as a flight simulator used to train pilots at MIT in 1950. y Abacus :- First use in public schools taught New York elementary students binary arithmetic in 1959.

Microcomputers in Education Here Microcomputers are defined which are come in the education system many years ego. This is the brief introduction on

Microcomputersy Introduced in late 1970s. y Adopted by public school systems during 1980s. y Apple II y Commodore PET y Radio Shack TRS - 80 Microcomputers, or PC's as they are often called, are abundant on our desks, tables, offices, suitcases, everywhere.

This is the most visible form of computers in the present world and comes in different forms and sizes.

There are many generations of particular design and technical specifications from the start of this particular design. It was introduced in late 1970s. It was adopted by public school systems during 1980s. Microcomputer has always been a reason for changing the way in education system. It has been a boon for the present world.

Evolution in Education TechniquesThere has been a huge change in education techniques. From the era of slate to the present era of I-Pad; it has been seen that there has a tremendous change in education techniques which has taken place in these years.

Modern teaching technologies 1)- SOFTWARE: These are mainly first step of evolution of software. Softwares were there in past also but now they have evolved to a great extend. Eg:- first there were only basic softwares like dos, calculation softwares, etc. but now we have lot of other software as well and much more advanced. For Eg:- excel, etc. Current softwares are much more advanced which reduces the human work. They handle the lot of organizational work. All this softwares are taught in colleges and schools.

2)- PROJECTORS: This were introduced to advance the teaching techniques. With the help of projectors, pictures, videos, ppt where easily explainable. With the help of projectors all this things were easily explainable to large no of people.

3)- THE INTERNET AND WWW: Internet is nothing just a all websites for getting information. These all are informative websites like wiki, ehow, etc. www. Refers to particular websites for educational websites. Eg:-

labtestonline.com which lets you do all chemistry practicals online. 4)- TV CHANNELS: These are the latest one in the fun learning for students till 6th std. digital service providers like tata sky and dish tv have started this channels. They have important subjects like maths, science, English to teach them in enjoyable way.

5)- E-CLASS: this are the classes which will be future of classroom. In this professor is sitting somewhere and students are sitting somewhere but they are attending classes. Eg; Educom. Software

y In past there were very basic software's like MS-Dos, Calculators, etc. Now we have much more advanced softwares like MS-office, etc. y Latest one are Edutainment. y Many satellite TV companies are offering many educational games and classes.

The Internet and the WWW

y In todays scenario internet plays a very important role in field of education. y Online courses are being offered by many universities. y E-classes are being offered to provide overseas education anywhere.

E-Classes

y www.eclasses.org

y Less expensive. y Any location- Any time. y Updated easily. y Faster. y Easily managed.

IMPACTS OF TECHNOLOGY Technology has brought various changes in the sphere of sociological and political. These sectors have always been influenced by this technology.

Political Impact

y What effect will educational standards have on student achievement? y Will regulations determine what technology will be available to deliver education y How will the No Child Left Behind legislation affect how technology is utilized in the classroom?

Social Impact

y How does technology affect the at risk population of students?

y Are children in lower socio- economic strata at a potential disadvantage regarding technological advances?

Environmental y How will rising education costs affect lifelong learning? y How will changes in delivery of education impact the preparation of leaders of tomorrow? y Will technological advances make distance learning the new paradigm?

Main drawbacks : Inspite of having numerous advantages technology has certain drawbacks also which are as follows: 1) Increasing incidents of cheating: Technology is encouraging incidents of cheating. For eg; cyber crime etc. 2) Lack of Focus 3) Poor Reading and Writing Skills: In the country like India maximum population are illiterate; they are not able to read and write properly. This is one of the major drawbacks of technology. 4) Poor Teacher - Student Relationship: Teachers and students lack in coordinating with each other which is again a drawback of this technology. 5) Costly: It is quite expensive for lower middle class people. It is not at all affordable. It is one of the reasons why technology has not still

reached in the rural areas. It should be encouraged especially in rural areas.

What Weve Learned

y Teachers will always be necessary! y Definition of learning environments are changing. y Identity of classrooms must change. y Our models of effective instruction must change too! y Educators must be more than: y Sage on the Stage y Guide on the Side Teachers have their own importance no matter wherever we reach through technology; we still need a guide who always supports us.

CONCLUSION On the basis of above explanation it can be concluded that technology has changed the dimensions of education technique. It should be encouraged; especially in rural areas. It should be more rampant. It has numerous advantages and disadvantages. It is helping our society but at the same time it has some negative effects also. For instance; it is encouraging incidents like cyber crime and stuff. It should be used in a proper and positive manner.

It is all about how we use it. So it should be encourage.
