Information about the Company Introduction The GAPL plant was set up in the year 1980 by Hindustan Antibiotics Ltd in joint venture with EDC of Goa, Daman and Diu Ltd. EDC Ltd. has acquired the shares of Hindustan Antibiotics Ltd in the year 1987 thus making GAPL as wholly owned subsidiary of EDC Ltd. The plant has facilities to manufacture tablets, liquid Orals, Capsules and Dry Powder Injectables. Over the years GAPL added further facilities in the areas of Beta Lactum Capsules. Presently the plant has two sections Beta Lactum and general pharmaceutical formulation. The main production sections are well supported by adequate availability of utilities and other infrastructure facilities. Presently the major GAPL product caters to Government institutions. Salient features of GAPL A. Location A plant located in Goa having peaceful labour environment Approx. 5% of the factory area has been utilized for current operations leaving abundant space for expansion at the existing site. The plant located in an industrial area and has not experienced any shortage of power and water. Plant well connected by road to NH-17 (at a proximity of 5 km.) connecting Mumbai and Goa. B. Resources and Facilities: The tablet section of the plant has received WHO-GMP certificate facilities for the balance sections are WHO GMP complied. All the major sections of the plant are expected to come under WHO-GMP accreditation by FDA/ CDSCO shortly A major part of the plant and machinery has been replaced/refurbished during the last 5 years. The unit has experienced and trained personnel The company has strong presence been in the institutional and Government segment. C. Financial Status: The company has been registered with BIFR since 1987 (verify)

 All the major secured borrowings have been settled leaving EDC/Government of Goa/Central Bank of India as the major secured creditors. Capital restructuring has been carried out to reflect an appropriate mix of debt and equity for GAPL. Certain initiatives for cost reduction and stepping up plant efficiency factors have been successfully completed in the recent past BIFR Directives: It may be mentioned that BIFR has directed the company to strengthen its equity and bring in additional funds. BIFR has also directed the company to infuse a strategic partner. Accordingly the company has taken the following steps: Converted the loans outstanding from promoters to preference capital EDC as promoters have recently infused Rs. 500 lacs into the company EDC has finalized one time settlement with the major secured creditors, except Central Bank of India where negotiations are in advance stage. EDC as promoters have initiated steps to infuse strategic partner and have already appointed the advisors for the strategic partner search EDC has released advertisement for inviting EOI for strategic investment.

Location and Facilities The plant is located in Tuem Industrial area, Pernem, Goa. The plant is situated on the State Highway connecting Pernem and Panaji in the State of Goa. The plant site is well connected by rail and the nearest railway station is at Pernem which is 7 km. The unit is well connected by road and the Mumbai-Goa NH-17 is only 5 km away from the unit. The Dabolim airport of Goa is located at 60 km from the plant site. Land The land is leasehold and the lease is for a period of 99 years commencing from 19.04.1982 granted by Government of Goa The total built up area of the plant is about 4150 sq. m. as against the total available area of about 84,413 sq, m. Products: The company has a wide product range to cater to the needs of various institutions (Government and Semi Government) and the trade market with generic as well under brand names. The products are packed in bulk containers as well as consumer packs. The product range consists of dry powder parenterals, (liquid parenterals), tablets, capsules, liquid orals, (oral re-hydration salts). The product range includes mainly Antibiotics (/-lactum antibiotics & other), Anti-inflammatory, Cough suppressants, Antacids, Tranquillisers, Antiemetic, Analgesic, Antipyretic, Antibacterial etc. The majority of formulations manufactured by the company are supplied to various Central Government and State Government Institutions. GAPL operates two chemist shops one each in Bambolim (near Panaji) and in Margoa, South Goa from rented premises. Manufacturing facilities: GAPL has a license no 105 and 106 granted by FDA to manufacture and distribute various formulations. These licenses are valid till December 2002 and further application for renewal is pending with FDA, Goa for five years ending December 2007. The GAPL plant comprises two major production blocks. Block I is dedicated to beta-lactum products and block II for general pharmaceutical formulations. Block I has dry powder Injectables and Capsules sections (hard gelatin) along with associated ancillary facilities such as raw and packing material store, maintenance, house keeping, change room dining room etc. Block II consists of tablet section, liquid oral section and general capsules section along with ancillary area as mentioned in case of Block I The raw material /Finished goods receiving section (BSR) is mostly common to both the production blocks. Besides these two blocks, the other facilities include plant utilities such as DG set, DM water, etc., GAPL has a Quality control laboratory for the testing of raw materials, intermediate and final products Majority of the analytical work is carried out in house. The GMP implementation is monitored by Quality Assurance (QA) department
