Weekly Stewardship Thought The Magi brought the child Jesus gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. What gifts do I place before Jesus? My time? My talent? My treasure?

Reflection Question What events and encounters with others have helped revealed to me that I am Gods son or daughter? Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament takes place at St. Patricks Church from 7:30 8:30 p.m. each Thursday evening. Take some time out for this special grace-filled devotion. Envelopes for Sunday Offerings We are still awaiting delivery of the new envelope packages for 2012. Memorial Mass for Sr. Joseph Anthony Unfortunately, we have some sad news to share. Sister Sheila Ferraz, formerly Sr. Joseph Anthony, died in December at the Elizabeth Seaton Residence at Wellesley in Boston. That is the Sisters of Charity retirement home and care facility. Sister has had some major health issues this past year, which ultimately lead to her passing. For those of you who did not know her, Sr. Joseph Anthony was a Bermudian who graduated from MSA, became a Nun and then returned to teach music at MSA for many years and was also instrumental in starting the first Youth Orchestra on the Island. She was the daughter of Anthony Ferraz who was the organist and choir director of St. Theresas for many years. She made an enormous impact in so many of our lives, throughout our MSA schooldays. A Memorial Mass for Sister Joseph Anthony will be held on Thursday, January 19 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Theresas Cathedral. The diocesan choir, under the direction of Julie Madeiros, will be singing at the Memorial Mass. Anyone who would like to join them is welcome. There will be three rehearsals: Monday, Jan. 9; Monday, Jan. 16 and Wednesday, Jan 18 and then the Mass on the 19th. All rehearsals will start at 7:30pm. If you are interested in participating in the choir, please let Julie know by email to gmbelco@logic.bm. MSA Alumni Wine and Cheese Social AGM MSA Alumni are invited to attend a wine and cheese AGM on January 25, 2012 at 5:30 p.m. in the MSA Grade 12 classroom (follow the signs). The Annual General Meeting is an opportunity for you, the members, to affect the future direction of the MSA Alumni Association, and it is important to present a variety of ideas for the future and receive feedback from members at the meeting. This is a great opportunity for alumni to take on a more active role with the Alumni Association by joining the executive committee or just by joining a sub-committee of the Association. We look forward to seeing you! Marriage Preparation for 2012 The Diocese annually sponsors a program for all couples intending to get married either locally or overseas. This is a mandatory five-week pre-marriage preparation program starting February 29 and ending March 28, 2012. Each session will focus on a particular topic and will be led by seasoned couples and Fr. Joe Morley (Pastor of Stella Maris). All sessions will take place at St. Theresa's Cathedral Hall, Laffan Street, on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Please see Fr. Paul for a registration form. All couples are required to speak to their pastor prior to the first session.

The Liturgical Year This weekend the Church continues to celebrate the Christmas Season with the reading referring to the Magi coming to worship the Christ Child the Epiphany of the Lord. The emphasis of this feast is on the fact that Christ is the redeemer of all people, Jews and non-Jews, rich and poor, throughout the world. The Christmas Season concludes with the feast of the Baptism of the Lord on Monday. Then on Tuesday we begin with what is called Ordinary Time: during which we celebrate the public life and teaching of Jesus. During Ordinary Time, the Church celebrates the fullness of the mystery of the Lord Jesus. The people of God offer praise by celebrating the paschal mystery of the death and resurrection of Jesus. Ordinary Time continues until December, but is interrupted by the seasons of Lent and Easter. On the first day of the week, the Lords Day, God assembles the beloved people to hear the word, to reflect upon it, to offer the living sacrifice of praise, and to eat and drink at the banquet of the Lord. Then God sends them forth to proclaim this love by their words and actions. Sunday is the original Christian feast day, following the tradition handed down from the apostles time, for this was the day of the Lords resurrection. Todays Christian communities continue this tradition by celebrating every Sunday as the day of the risen Lord. The Church teaches that the baptized have a serious obligation to gather each Sunday to hear the Word of God, give praise and receive spiritual strength. See Us on Facebook Yes, we are now on Facebook! For anyone wanting to be a friend of St. Patricks church, please visit our Facebook page and make yourself known. Any suggestions and comments would be greatly appreciated as we try to leap into the 21st Century. Smile for the Day! The Best Way to Pray A priest, a minister and a guru sat discussing the best positions for prayer while a telephone repairman worked nearby. Kneeling is definitely the best way to pray, the priest said. No, said the minister. I get the best results standing with my hands outstretched to Heaven. Youre both wrong, the guru said. The most effective prayer position is lying down of the floor. The repairman could contain himself no longer. Hey, fellas, he interrupted. The best prayin I ever did was when I was hangin upside down from a telephone pole.
