E-learning nseamn educaia prin intermediul Internetului, al reelelor de calculatoare, sau al calculatorului personal. "E-learning" este, n esen, transferul printr-o reea, de deprinderi sau cunotine. E-learning face referire la utilizarea aplicaiilor i al proceselor de nvare. Aplicaiile de e-learning includ nvarea facilitat de arhitectura web, clase virtuale i colaborarea n mediul digital. Coninutul educaional este furnizat prin Internet, intranet/extranet, pe suport oferit de banda video sau audio, televiziune prin satelit sau CD-ROM/DVD. Cele mai recente aplicaii pot rula i prin intermediul altor dispozitive electronice conectate n reea (de exemplu, telefonul mobil). MySQL - sistemul de gestiune a bazelor de date MySQL a cptat n ultima vreme o utilizare

din ce n ce mai extinsa, n principal datorita faptului ca, fiind "Open Source" costurile de utilizare sunt reduse (pentru utilizatorul individual este GRATUIT). Este un sistem robust, solid si nu are limita de utilizatori simultan sau a datelor. Este ideal pentru companiile care nu au un buget IT foarte mare.

PHP + Hypertext Preprocessor este un limbaj de programare open-source, folosit in principal

pentru creere de aplicatii de server si pentru pagini web dinamice. Cu sintaxa din C, Java si Perl, codul PHP este legat de pagini HTML si executa comenzile printr-un server care suporta PHP. Se foloseste pe scara larga mpreuna cu baze de date MySQL. Acronimul PHP a nsemnat la nceput "Personal Home Page." PHP este folosit pe servere web UNIX si Windows.

Fiecare elev are acces doar catre materialele ce ii sunt destinate, portalul avand un sistem bine definit de drepturi de acces ce pot fi editate in functie de nevoi.
