13th January

Welcome We welcome into the family of God Daniel Heaton who will be baptised during Mass on Sunday morning. The Christian Community welcomes you with great joy. Please keep Daniel and his family in your prayers at this time. Right to Life Leaflet You will no doubt have heard in the news on Thursday of a report calling for a change in the law on assisted suicide. This report came from a so-called Independent Commission of members of the House of Lords who have, in the past supported attempts to legalise assisted suicide. This is the latest in a concerted campaign to bring about a change in the law, supported by pro-euthanasia groups such as the ill-named Dignity in Dying and certain sections of the media. Until now all such attempts have been resisted, but it is essential that we be aware of what is going on and do not stand silently by as the elderly and terminally-ill are put in danger. As you leave Mass today, please take a leaflet with you which sets out the real position, and find out for yourself what is being proposed. Dont be taken in by those who claim this is for exceptional circumstances - this can easily become the norm, as we have seen with the law on abortion.
