The 68 vandal, Christopher Bolt, 19, was sentenced on Dec. 16 by Judge Burke McCahill to 3 years supervised probation and 1 year unsupervised probation for the felony charge of destruction of property in the car tagging. Bolt, then 18, from Sterling was arrested June 9 after Loudoun County authorities said he spray-painted at least one vehicle earlier in June in Sterling. Bolt is said to have tagged vehicles with black spray paintusually scribing the number 68on April 30, every weekend in May, and June 6 and June 7, according to the Loudoun County Sheriffs Office. The total damages on the weekend of April 30 and May 1 were more than $2,000, according to Loudoun County Sheriffs Office Investigator Vince DiBenedetto. However, investigators believed Bolt was connected to a string of destruction throughout Sterling, Ashburn and Leesburg that left more than 50 vehicles with thousands of dollars in damage. Bolt was only held accountable for a minimum of 20 cars in the tagging incident. MaCahill sentenced Bolt to 4 years in state prison suspended and also tagged on extra court required stipulations. Bolt is to write a page long letter of apology to each of the victims of his car tagging within 30 days and do 100 hours of community service. According to Ryan Perry with the Commonwealths Attorneys office, this case struck a major concern with the citizens of Loudoun because some of the tagging had gang connotations with it. The concern raised in the community is what concerns the commonwealth, Perry said. During this time it caused fear in the community. McCahill seconded that opinion saying that the word dumb was the only way to describe his actions. Actions like this can terrorize a neighborhood, McCahill said. Its the fear of the unknown. Think of the aggravation you caused people in their busy lives. Its unbelievable, its miserable. Its the kind of thing people loathe all for nothing. Bolt, who has no previous criminal record, is currently attending J. Sargent Reynolds Community College in Richmond and plans on transferring to Virginia Commonwealth University and wishes to put this past him. I wish I had an idea of [how] the immature actions would affect the people, Bolt said.

Mr. Bolt did do this. He accepted responsibility, Kim said. Id ask the court to take into account his age hes 19 just graduated high school. He understands this is a consequence he has to face and hopes this makes him a better person. McCahill said he was inclined to put Bolt in prison.
This is a sad gateway to adulthood for someone with no record, McCahill said.
Bolt will carry his felony charge for the rest of his life, according to McCahill, which will affect his civil rights.

I bet if this judge would have been a victim this punk would have be locked up. What about the money it cost the tax payers for the responses from the cops for each incident. All of the paperwork for each cop/investigator cost time and money. What is justice? Did the courts in Virginia forget how to prevent crime? If you get pulled over with a bag of weed or a deer you killed without a license, you get jail time but if you destroy 50 cars and cause havoc for citizens you get probation. WTF. I do not condone the pot smoking or dead Bambi but this counties courts need to crack down on criminals much better. If someone would have confronted this fool while he was in the act and beat his A55, they would have received a greater punishment. This is BS!
