Serving the gods as holy warriors, dervishes stand confidently in the whirlwind of conflict. Martial techniques perfected in the deserts of Elona allow a Dervishs scythe to lash out quickly at multiple opponents, surrounding the holy warrior with a swath of destruction. Initiates often learn spells of self-protection, prayers that rush a combatant into battle, and invocations that empower attacks with elemental fury. Masters of the profession can assume the form of a god, enacting divine will with holy blessings. Keenly aware of the conditions of a fight, wandering the savannahs and deserts of Elona, the faithful Dervish chants prayers to the earth and wind... and the fury of the sandstorm answers in response.

Creating an Dervish
Dervishes rely on Strength, Dexterity, and Wisdom for nearly all of their key abilities and powers. Constitution is useful as well, although no dervish powers are specifically based on Constitution. Dervishes start with two common builds: the power dervish and the whirling dervish.

Suggested Daily Power: Farmers Scythe Dervish Overview

Characteristics: You direct divine energy to protect yourself while harming your opponents. Many of your attacks have additional energy effects or damage that increase your versatility. You deal large amounts of damage, whether divided among many enemies or one opponent. Your powers can be employed very efficiently to make the most of only a few uses. Religion: Dervishes that dont reside in the Elona desert are very rare, and more uncommon are Dervish that Implements worship non-Elonian deities. (See Dervishes and Elonian Deities.) Races: Humans were the first Dervishes, combining their races adaptability with their natural magnetism towards religion. Other races likely to produce Dervishes include dragonborn, elves, and halflings (with their natural knack for wandering).

Power Dervish
Your powers do large, focused, amounts of damage. Destroying single enemies at a time, especially those that annoy your clerics and wizards. Make strength your highest ability score; it is the source of damage and accuracy for the better half of your powers. Wisdom is your second most important. It improves your utility powers, which increase your fighting capability and resilience beyond compare. Dexterity allows you to dabble in other powers. Suggested At-Will Powers: Haft Spin, Radiant Blade Suggested Encounter Power: Aura Slicer Suggested Daily Power: Heart of Fury

Dervishes and Elonian Deities

The Elona desert was separated long ago from the rest of the world by natural barriers. These made trade and travel without the help of magic literally impossible. Because of this division, gods long forgotten by the rest of the world were still revered fervently by the peoples of Elona. These include Balthazar god of fire and war, Grenth god of death and ice, Lyssa goddess of beauty and illusion, Melandru goddess of earth and nature, and Dwayna goddess of life and air. Dervishes of some prestige can embody traits of specific gods.

Whirling Dervish
The whirling dervish uses powers that do damage to a large number of enemies simultaneously. Make dexterity your highest ability score. You can focus on mobility rather than protection when choosing armor, allowing your natural agility to do the rest. Wisdom is your second choice, because it allows you to access and use area spells that are a key to your potency in battle. Strength is your obvious third choice. Suggested At-Will Powers: Guided Scythe, Crippling Sweep Suggested Encounter Power: Balthazars Vigor

Implements and Weapons

See the Implement paragraph in the Paladin Description, with the following exceptions: 1. Instead of a Holy Avenger, Dervishes seek and use

weapons of their gods. See the end of the paragon descriptions for details.
