LCS International

A 21st Century Warship

Naval history was made on September 23, 2006 when the first Littoral Combat Ship FREEDOM (LCS 1) officially launched in Marinette, WI. LCS is a high speed, shallow draft, rapidly reconfigurable surface combatant designed to address the asymmetric threats in littoral waters around the world. The Lockheed Martin LCS team leveraged best of breed technologies from the U.S. Navy and industry around the world to produce a transformational warship at an affordable price and in less than half the time of a traditional warship building program. Our approach provides the U.S. Navy with new capabilities in an open, flexible architecture to enable rapid, low risk integration of emerging technologies throughout the life-cycle of the ship.

LCS International Variants

Lockheed Martins LCS solution is available in multiple configurations and is scalable for the needs of naval forces around the globe from focused mission to multi-mission variants. Whether conducting missions close to the shoreline, or in blue waters, the Lockheed Martin LCS is the optimal choice with a hull form operable in all sea states. The LCS design contains a large flight deck, hangar and mission zones for special operations and launch and recovery of unmanned vehicles and small craft. The Waterborne Mission Zone is capable of handling a wide variety of manned and unmanned vehicles. The LCS design provides for a large reconfigurable space to support future missions and specific international navy requirements. The Lockheed Martin team has established the capability of the LCS seaframe and combat management system (COMBATSS-21) to support additional mission areas including area air defense and undersea warfare.
