In other words, through the people of Israel, the Savior shall come to all people who seek God with a sincere heart. This brings joy and the radiance of Gods glory to all the world and to all people everywhere. Through the fidelity of the people of God, and through Gods fidelity to them, all people shall become Gods children and rejoice in the fulfillment of Gods promise to Israel.

TREASURES FROM OUR TRADITION

Before long, people will be throwing Mardi Gras beads in the streets of New Orleanspurple, gold, and green. A few will be in on the secret: the colors of the beads are derived from the gifts of the magi. Gold for wealth, purple for power, green for good health. The gifts are also a key to the identity of the Christ Child: the incense for God; the gold for a king; the myrrh, fragrant burial ointment for one who comes to die. Centuries ago, todays feast bore the heavy burden of celebrating all the manifestations of Christs identity: the birth of Jesus, the coming of the magi, the baptism of the Lord, the wedding feast at Cana. It was too much for one day. Fortunately the one day has blossomed into a whole season of grateful celebration, stretching behind us into Advent, and ahead of us into the Baptism of the Lord and to Christs coming again in glory. Tonight, be sure to light the Christmas lights, and gather at the crche for a favorite carol and a prayer.

St. Albert the Great Holy Name Society will be sponsoring SOUP AND SALAD SATURDAYS . Be sure to come down to Rogers Hall from 4:00pm-7:00pm for a delicious meal of soup and garden fresh salad with al the trimmings. Follow that with coffee, tea or fruit punch and dessert. Each week we will have special .varieties from our lo cal restaurants.

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Imagine over 700 children getting ready to receive the Eucharist for the first time in their lives! Through the generous support provided by the Collection for the Church in Latin America, last year these young boys and girls from St. Blaise parish in El Pozn, Colombia were taught by trained catechists so that they were well prepared for their First Holy Communion. For many in the twenty- two countries of South America and the Caribbean, the funds from this collection provide the only help that individual parishes receive to sustain and enrich the faith of their parishioners. Your contributions to this collection will assist in the formation of seminarians, permanent deacons, religious sisters and brothers, and lay ministers of the Gospel. The natural disasters which occurred in 2010 continue to challenge the Church in Latin America. Your participation in this collection will help the Church to re-establish and strengthen her presence in this region and ensure that the faithful can continue to experience the Lords love in the sacraments and in their local parish communities. I am grateful for your support of your local parish, the Archdiocese and the Universal Church. May God, who is never outdone in generosity, continue to bless you and your loved ones in this New Year.
