Work Experience
2008-Present
The following pages present my experience working in a landscape architecture firms specializing in the design of skate board parks and action sports facilities. I have completed multiple sets of construction documents, performed construction administration visits during the construction of the skateparks, managed all 3D graphic work, represented the company at city council meetings, attended public design meetings, contributed to the design of over 50 skate parks, and managed projects in the Denver area. In February 2009 I was able to become LEED AP, as a result I have led the efforts to design and build the worlds first carbon neutral skate park in Lake Forest, CA for the City of Lake Forest and Etnies Shoes, as well as the worlds first LEEP certified skate park in St. Cloud, MN. My duties have included hosting meetings, writing technical specifications, and contributing to the design of the skate park. My responsibilities also extend into the marketing side of the firm. I have also designed and submitted several advertisements which have been published in Landscape Architect and Specifier News, as well as designed numerous flyers and other marketing materials.

Flledparken Skatepark
The Flledparken Skatepark in Copenhagen, Denmark is designed as Northern Europes largest concrete skate park. My duties for this project included design, construction document completion, 3d modeling, and in-depth cost estimates.
St. Cloud, MN
The St. Cloud Skate Plaza is the first skate plaza of its kind. A truly eco-friendly skate park in both its material choice and design strategies implemented within the park. The landscape planters act at a bio-filtration and drainage system for the water accumulated in the plaza. This skate plaza is also proposed as the first LEED certified skate park in the world.
The Bemidji Skate Plaza is a hybrid style of skate park incorporating both transition and street style of skate boarding. I designed the entry piece as well as worked on the overall design within the design team. The renderings were created in V Ray for Sketch Up.

The project for my graduate studio was a central hub for the Denver Bicycle Share Program. The design for this center was to include a variety of uses including a bike shop, private offices, restaurant, theatre, and an office space for the bicycle share program employees. The site for the building is located along the Cherry Creek bike path between Wynkoop St. and Wazee St in Denver, CO. There was also a required sustainability component to the overall design, with this in mind I wanted to use an integrated type of system rather than a surface treatment such as solar panels or wind turbines. Inspired by the David Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh, PA; I chose to attempt at utilizing the creek water flowing by the site. The idea behind this system would be capturing the river water and moving it to the roof, once on the roof the water the water would absorb and move the heat that would otherwise be transferred to the interior of the building. After leaving the roof the water could then be captured and utilized in a domestic hot water system or utilized elsewhere on the site as irrigation. Another aspect of the design is the central atrium space. This space serves as a way for hot air to move freely up and out of the building and increase passive ventilation within the interior utilizing the predominant southern wind. The structural system as well as the ground slabs, completely concrete, also act as an energy efficient design strategy. The concrete is intentionally left un-finished to take advantage of passive solar heat gains. These thick concrete slabs and structural elements absorb heat during the day and release it at night, which reduces the energy used in morning start up. Building Overview
Because of the experimental nature of the project, I wanted to explore presentation graphic techniques. Inspired by the harsh reality of environmental problems, I imagined a world that has had a break down, but has had a chance to reinvent itself. The idea of a rebirth is highlighted in my buildingssustainable design. I implemented digital painting techniques, retro people, and vivid colors to add a playful effect on this somewhat dark theme.

Form Models
In this conceptual model the L shape has become more refined in the design and connections to parking area, the building, and street have become clear.
Western Elevation
The initial form models worked with rough programming on the site. Utilizing the space to best fit parking and maximize the buildings relationship with its surrounding In this model you can see the Power Wall begin to take shape. window openings are made to frame views as you move from space to space in the interior.
In this rough study model the parti of the L has begun to take shape. Windows and openings have presented themselves as an opportunity to for natural light and heat.

In the final site plan, The L shape is mimicked by an opposing L which takes form as vegetation allowing for separation from the street and the units private lawn area The connection from the sidewalk moves between the two buildings and pushes you out into an outdoor picnic area adjacent to the parking lots

In the design each portion of the buildings exterior is a direct expression of the interior. This separates each portion giving each its own exterior identity.

This image is an example product of a python script for Maya I wrote while interning at Pixar Animation Studios. The scripts purpose is to populate a tree (comprised of curves) with leaves or any polygonal object. I was conerned with the art directability of the script, so several variables were added including the number of objects to include as well as the point of placement on the curve.

Furniture Design
2006-2007
The furniture design portion of this portfolio exemplifies the designs I have done throughout my undergraduate study. The Skate Board Lamp - This was a design/ build project for studio 3. The project required building a lamp for our desks which was constructed out of reclaimed materials. This lamp is made from an old skate board deck and scrap aluminum pieces. The tubular fluorescent light is directed by linear aluminum shades. The lamp is attached to a surface by using a cclamp style fixture. The BMX Chair - This was a design/ build project for a Theoretical Materials course. The design criteria incorporated using found materials to design and build a furniture piece. I used old bmx bicycle frames, handlebars, forks, and 20 tires to build this chair. The tires act as the seat of the chair and attached by nylon rope sewn through each.

This design incorporates used bmx frames, forks, handlebars, and tires. The frame of the chair is connected by welding each part to another. The blue nylon rope connects each tire to the chair. To provide optimal seating the tires have been tensioned.
