EPCOR Information Services (IS) performs operational and project activities for a diverse array of applications including Oracle E-Business Suite, GIS, Billing, Mobile Apps, Web applications, Work and Asset Management and small applications. Brief Description EPCOR Information Services is currently seeking an experienced Database Administrator to take on a full-time, permanent role on its Application Services team. Reporting to the Supervisor, Database Support, this individual will be accountable for the performance, maintenance and security of, as well as providing technical expertise for, EPCOR's Oracle and SQL enterprise databases and middle-tier applications in both operational and project environments.

Detailed Description The accountabilities of the Database Administrator include, but are not limited to: Ensuring database and middle-tier application reliability and availability through proactive database and application maintenance and monitoring. Delivering optimal results against appropriate performance metrics, including: o Incident Delivery and Responsiveness o Delivery on Change Request estimations o Customer Satisfaction Surveys o System Availability o Knowledge Management Estimating, designing, and developing solutions to meet or exceed customer or project requirements and enhancement delivery targets. Providing expert technical insight and guidance to peers regarding corporate databases and middle-tier applications. Upholding information sensitivity requirements through contributing to and implementing corporate database security standards. Reacting to system availability issues with the required urgency and overseeing root cause analysis on issues as a way of proactively preventing them in the future. Maintaining and acquiring specialized database administration knowledge through active learning using a variety of technical knowledge sources. Abiding by all Application Services departmental policies and processes to ensure consistent support and administrative practices throughout Application Services. Providing valuable contributions to documentation and knowledgebase to allow for the long-term sustainability of EPCOR IS. Employing open communication and problem solving skills to resolve customer issues and incidents efficiently and effectively within expected timeframes. Executing daily job duties with a focus on continuous improvement of processes and systems. Demonstrating a high performance, high discipline, safe, accountable, focused, innovative and achievement-oriented, easy to do business with manner of working.

Job Requirements

The successful candidate must possess the following qualifications:

Computer Science or Engineering degree or a Computer Engineering/System Technology diploma. 7-10 years of directly related experience. In-depth knowledge of database administration and IT control

processes. Specialized knowledge and skills within the following areas: o Oracle 9i, 10g databases o SQL Server 2005/2008 o Oracle Enterprise Manager o Oracle Application Server o Oracle PL/SQL o UNIX/LINUX/Windows Servers Knowledge in the following areas would also be a benefit: o Oracle E-Business Administration o Oracle BI Administration o Oracle Discoverer o HP Openview

To be our successful candidate, you must have the ability to effectively and efficiently process database and middle-tier related requests and tasks while operating within the relevant IT controls and process. You must also be able to react with urgency to troubleshoot critical issues when faced with database-related and middle-tier system availability situations during or after business hours. In addition, you have a proven ability to rationalize current Database Administrator and Information Services processes and look for opportunities to repair, replace or remove these processes in an effort to maximize quality and efficiency within Information Services. You also possess effective customer responsiveness and interpersonal skills for issue resolution, product delivery, and technical guidance in a manner that will foster trusting customer relationships. In addition, through respectfully providing expert advice and collaborating effectively with peers, you are able to build and foster solid working relationships. Your strong initiative enables delivery of operational excellence and continual process improvement in a highly visible area of Information Services. Active learning skills and the ability to adapt positively to change will allow you to continually grow and meet the challenges of evolving technology, business and support assignments.
