Ray & Susan Golden, Rosie Price and Rick, Walter and Nancy Hinkel, Mary Fread and her grandson, David Curry were able to attend and had a great time. David found out how nice our TRIO members really are. The 500 ft zip line was a thrilling experience for anyone brave enough to give it a try. Rick Scolaro had called to say they would not be coming because Jacqui had spent the night in the hospital due to being hit by fireworks. We were all surprised to see Jacqui and Rick were able to join us after all! Jacqui was looking quite pale and had a bandage with a cold pack over the wound. It was a round shape such as a vehicle cigarette lighter would make. Had she been struck within an inch in any other direction, it would have been the end for her.

Jacqui received her heart on May 28, 1997 and knows she is destined to continue using her knowledge to help make this world a better place. We thank Charlie and Karen for having us join them and their friends. We are all wishing Charlie the best in losing some weight and getting the perfect lung transplant. ****** June 21, 2011 TRIO Meeting I am pleased to report that Ray, Susan Golden and all their helpers did a superb job with the Flea Market Sales this year totaling a record of $746.65 in sales and $41.65 in donations! Thank you all very much.! Maybe if we remember to accumulate good items for contribution to the sale in 2012, we can do even better?

We welcome new member Richard Haas who is on the list for a kidney transplant. He met a man who offered to donate a kidney and we hope he turns out to be a perfect match. Dorene Kray, new member (heart recipient 2/26/94 & kidney recipient 7/07/04) drove all the way from Cleveland to North Canton without getting lost. I shared the article about her that appreared in the Cleveland Sketchbook which is quite remarkable. Dorene was kind enough to represent Akron-Canton TRIO at the TRIO 2011 Leadership Summit and gave a full report to us. The Theme of the Summit: The Power of one: Making a difference in the world, one person at a time. a sub-theme: acting on ones passion to make changes in the world around you. Note from Mary to all members: You are each needed and important and we do appreciate you.

President Dick Becherer

(From Joan 7/27/2011

Today was a doctor visit. Vital signs good. Weight unchanged. Pain free..(Yes, pain FREE) For the last four days, he has not taken any extra medication, just the oxycontin every 12 hours. His upper body strength is good but he is weak in the knees. We asked for in-home physical therapy for a few visits. Will let you know. Tomorrow chemo resumes. He has started a new medication for his appetite. WOW!!! He has eaten as much as 1800 calories a day. We just have to maintain so he adds weight. Dicks outlook is very positive and heartwarming. For so long he has suffered with the pain and now, to see him reading, doing puzzles and enjoying radio and TV again is wonderful for these old eyes. Thank you just doesnt seem to be enough to say for people who have made these long months bearable. You are all so very special... Love to all, Joan

Randy has invited you to join his cause on Facebook: Fight Animal Cruelty 2,706,467 members We need your help to reach 5,000,000 members! Sylvia Forbes This brave lady celebrated the 17th anniversary of her lung transplant 8/4/11. Pray that the radiation & removal of skin cancer solves the problem of cancer for her Amanda Goodwin Last report was that she was in surgery to have a splenectomy on August 5th. Prayer request that the surgery is successful and she heals quickly. From Kevin Sawyer: I just had a recent visit from my daughters family. I had not seen Zoe since January. She sure is getting big. They were here for a week and it was over too quick. Georgia seems so very far away. I will be going out there in October for her second birthday. See all of you soon.

Gone but Never Forgotten: Erin Lynne (Smith) Spoon 5/24/82 - 7/13/11 Infant Layne William Spoon 6/29/2011 Thanks to Dick Samoila for letting us know of her death. Erin was a heart recipient and the last email I had received from her was that they planned to move and she was looking forward to coming to our monthly meetings again. Jacqui and I were able to go to the calling hours and offer condolences from TRIO. Years ago, one of our members passed away and her husband was very upset that no one from TRIO attended her funeral. Fact is, we never heard of her death until several months later. I feel it is very important for all of us to keep in touch.

News from Jim Gleason 7/26/11 It is with saddened heart that I pass along the news that long time TRIO Manhatten Chapter president, Larraine DePasquale, passed away today in New York. Loved by many, Larraine was a tireless and dedicated leader with many accomplishments to her credit. Of all such activities she led, probably she was best known for her chapters annual donor recognition ceremony which she led with passion and the support of her husband and partner in life, Anthony, who passed away about 16 months ago. Larriane suffered both with that loss and cancer of the liver and colon. Now they are united again. (I feel fortunate to have known this wonderful lady and offer condolences from Akron-Canton TRIO)

Im Free
Ann Marie (Fread) Stauffer 11/05/67 - 6/7/11 The sky turned black in the a.m., so dark that we could not see across the street and vehicles had to turn on lights. Most unusual thing I and my coworkers had ever seen. When my son called me around noon to tell me my darling daughter had passed away, the sun came out and everything was bright and beautiful again. She had been an invalid for the past two years and I felt this was her way of letting me know that now she is in a much better place with no pain. Thanks to all of you for the condolences. Special Thanks to Micki Wise for her $5.00 donation to TRIO in memory of my daughter. The funeral home printed the following poem on the back of her obituary. Dont grieve for me, for now Im free. The following path God laid for me. I took his hand when I heard him call, I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day To laugh, to love, to work or play. Tasks left undone must stay that way. I found that place at the close of the day. If my passing has left a void Then fill it with remembered joy. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss, Ah yes, these things I too will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow, I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My lifes been full, I savored much, Good friends, good times, a loved ones touch. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief; Dont lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your heart and share with me, God wanted me now, He set me free. Author Unknown
