com> Sent: Saturday, January 14, 2012 1:29 AM Subject: District Convention and Awards Ceremonies on April 19-21, 2012 Dear classmates-Silver Presidents: Our term is more than half finished and I am sure many of us are looking forward to June when we shall turnover the reigns of our respective clubs to our incoming presidents. Almost all major district activities are over except for a few. And the culmination of our term usually is the Discon and the Awards Night. For this year, the Awards Night shall be combined with the Discon to give us enough time to attend the RI Convention in Bangkok in the second week of May 2012. The Discon will be on April 19-21 in Tagaytay City. The first day, April 19, Thursday will be a golf tournament to be hosted by RC New Manila East (SP Ed Ayento) and RC SFDM (SP Ronnie Yap). The details for the golf will be finalized soon. The golf venue will most probably be in Splendido. There will be a friendship night on the evening of the golf tournament, and the golf participants as well as the Discon registrants who will be in Tagaytay already are invited to attend for free. The Discon itself will be held in the grand ball room of the Taal Vista Hotel. This was the erstwhile Taal Vista Lodge but has since been renamed, renovated and expanded when it was bought by the SM group of Henry Sy. The Awards giving will be interspersed during the plenary sessions in April 20, Friday and April 21, Saturday and shall be called Awards Ceremonies. The governor's awards will be given in the morning of April 20. The minor awards will be given out in the fellowship night and Saturday while the major awards will be given during the Governors' Ball. In a slight shift of emphasis, the final night's dinner get-together shall be called Governors' Ball to honor all past district governors, governors elect and nominee as well as our incumbent DG Jess Cifra. The registration fee is a discounted and heavily subsidized amount of P3,700 per participant. This is good up to January 31, 2012. Thereafter, the registration fee shall be P4,200 per participant. This entitles the registered attendee entry to all the plenary

sessions as well as lunch, dinner, afternoon snacks on April 20 and 21. There will also be free breakfast and morning snacks on April 21. All registered participants will be given a kit and a souvenir program. A coffee station shall remain open during the two days. The spouses' ticket is P2,000 and shall be entitled to attend only the Fellowship night of April 20, the spouses' program in the morning of April 21, and the Governors' Ball in the evening of April 21. A spouse who wants to attend the plenary sessions as well as the attendant meals and snacks shall have to pay the regular fee. All meals and snacks shall be served on the table to make it more convenient for the attendees particularly the ladies. A meal/snack ticket will be collected from each participant before food is served. There will be NO on-site registration to avoid the problems of running out of food, souvenir programs, IDs, etc. The last day of registration shall be on April 15, 2012 to allow us time to prepare the printed materials and IDs and for the hotel to prepare adequately for the food. There will be entertainment by a live band in the Fellowship night and the Governors' Ball. Food and drinks will be served too. We have a reservation for 100 rooms in Taal Vista Hotel but this will have to be confirmed before February 20, 2012. We can forward your requests for room reservation to the hotel staff but you will have to make the deposit and final payment yourself. The room rates are discounted by 50% and are P4,500 per night per room for the new (west) wing and P3,400 per night per room for the old (east) wing. The new wing room is a bit bigger than the old wing room. (The ball room is in the new wing). Both have 2 queen size beds and can accommodate 4 people if one does not mind sleeping double in one bed. Officially, only 2 are listed as guests of the room. Since the ball room can only accommodate around 700 persons max, we shall allocate the seats inside the ball room on a first-paid first-served basis. Those who will pay after the ballroom is filled up will have to be seated in the adjoining lanai area. Proper IDs with table numbers shall be issued to ensure compliance to the seating arrangements. We welcome advertisements in the souvenir program. The registration fee is highly subsidized and we as the host club have to solicit donors and sponsors totaling close to P1 million just to break even. There are two co-chairmen of the Discon this year: PE Morris Agoncillo and PNN Paul Galang (ry 2014-15). They are the ones directly in-charge of the Discon preparations. I am just assisting them as club president.

I hope this answers any question you may have in your mind. Please feel free to contact us anytime for further clarification. Please disseminate this info to all your club members. Thank you so much.
