CHAPTER 1 Basic Planning Phase

INTRODUCTION

Man started manipulating data manually. The increased rapid growth of population involves quantities and numbers, so the way manage information is affected. Administering paper works, important documents,report accomplishments and other piled bulk of papers can burn one's fingers. On our way to civilization, we always tried to look for ways to simplify works and to clear up difficulties effectively. Mankind always respond to problem with some type solution. Although solutions prove to be less acceptable than others, it is usually the search for a solutions that leads to advances in man's knowledge and abilities.

The age of computer is here. With increasing frequency, it is organized so that understanding about computer, how it works and how it influences the daily lives of every citizen, is the necessary part of the general education for all person who live and work in this technological society. It is the purpose of this study to show how computer is utilized to assist in handling files and solving problem, not only in business and science but to the general users as well.

The dream of quick, reliable way to settle problems remained tantalizingly out of reach until the world becomes wired. An aid that we can acquire to computer that helps a lot to an organization is the processing of data wherein users can operate with extremely high speed and reliability. Managing documents these days can be totally overwhelming with little time consumed, files are pretty much organized. Expenses are worth it and satisfy the needs of each concerned.

1.1 Background of the Study Zest Airways was established as Asian Spirit in September 1995. It is The Philippines' only airline cooperative. Aptly called Airline Employees Cooperative, its 36 founding members own and run the company. Zest Air is a domestic passenger airline with the mission to operate scheduled services to tourist destinations and secondary and tertiary airports where other airlines don't dare to operate.It has a total of 10 aircraft. Most of them specially designed for short take-off and landing. Zest Air offers the lowest year round Lite Fares for its destinations. 1.2 Project Definition and Description of the Study 1.2.1 Description of the Study The study focuses on how to monitor the passengers booking and reservation of their flight and how to improvise the monitoring in assessing the passengers of Zest Air Philippines according to their needs. We also have the system about Domestic Routes: Boracay, Busuanga, Cebu, Calbayog, Catarman, Davao, Manila, Marinduque, San Jose, Virac, Bacolod, Puerto Princesa, Tablas, Naga, Legaspi, Iloilo, Tacloban, Kalibo, Masbate, Tagbilaran. For their payment they need to go to the nearest location of our offices and also for them to make sure on the process and informations of their flight.

1.2.2 Policies Related to the Study Rules : In cancelling your flights it should be within twelve hours after your reservations, if the time passed you cannot have your refunds. Re-booking is just for changing your schedules of flights, and it do have charges.(it must be within twelve hours after you book your flight.)

For reservations you have to give your complete information's that are needed. And also within 24 hours you need to pay but if you cannot do this condition your reservation will automatically cancelled.

1.2.3 Definition of Terms Database. a collection all records. Password. user's authorization that is used with the log in for an individual to be allowed to use the system. Update. means to save the changes or save a new record in the database. VB6. is an abbreviation for Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 .

1.3 Scope and Limitation of the Study Scope: The name of the software is Airline Ticketing and Reservation System.This software provides options for viewing different flights available with different timings for a particular date and provides customers with the facility to book a ticket, modify or cancel a particular reservation but it does not provide the customers with details of cost of the ticket and it does not allow the customer to modify a particular part of his reservation and he/she can modify all his details. Limitation:The system focused on Booking and Reservation. The system was designed just for the local area.

1.4 Task and Duration of the Study
