Courageous Men
Courage is the willingness to stand strong in your convictions and to move in the direction of Gods calling. In our Wednesday Band of Brothers meeting, we end each night with the challenge to Man Up! I want to challenge all men to join me in the Chapel along with over 250 other men as some of the staff and I teach about The Resolution, based on the Christian film Courageous. Honor begins at home; men must resolve to not just go with the flow but to swim against the current of the culture. You can learn how to accept responsibility, embrace your identity, redeem your history, walk in integrity, leave a legacy, and discover forgiveness. Whether you are married or single, this study will make a difference in your life. Join me as I teach at 6:30 p.m. on January 11th. Man up! After over a year of prayer and searching for Gods man, our Personnel Committee is unanimously recommending that we have Rev. Eric Yeldell come in view of a call on January 21/22 as Associate Pastor of Contemporary Worship and Ministries. Eric has served for two years as the Associate Pastor of Music and Worship at the First Baptist Church of Temple Terrace in Tampa and before that in a similar role at the Highview Baptist Church of Louisville, Kentucky. Most of you have heard him as a guest worship leader on Saturday and Sunday and know that his wife, Kristin, our oldest daughter, sings with him. She also teaches women at their church. I understand the challenges of considering my son-in-law as a staff member. However, it was the Personnel Committee that urged us to initially consider him, along with dozens of others of you. We prayed about other men over a full year. This time allowed Eric to lead at a crucial time when his church was without a Pastor. I truly believe that he is the best possible person to lead our Saturday night worship, provide strategizing leadership concerning creative arts and media, use his gifts in discipleship, and his commitment to total church ministry. He uniquely is anointed to lead folks into Gods presence in worship. As a thirties father of three preschoolers, he will provide needed perspective and representation about and for younger adults. In the order of authority, he will report to Dr. Todd Stearns and Forrest Head. We will say more about his qualifications and his new ministry next week. Please be much in prayer as we vote by secret ballot as he comes in view of a call.
There is a guest reception in the Commons immediately following the Saturday night and Sunday morning 11:00 service. Come and meet Pastor Wicker.
Guest Reception
FBCN Announces
Please join us in welcoming Rev. Eric Yeldell in view of a call as Associate Pastor of Contemporary Worship & Ministries. Eric received his Masters of Divinity degree from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kentucky. He comes to us from First Baptist Church of Temple Terrace in Tampa where he has served as the Associate Pastor of Music and Worship for the past two years. He has been married to Kristin for over 6 years, and they have three children (Mary Grace, 5, Abby, 3, and Naomi, 7 months).
THIS HOPE
James, Jesus' own brother, started out as a skeptic. See how one glimpse of the resurrected Savior turned an unbeliever into a disciple with Beth Moore's study James: Mercy Triumphs. Once you get to know both the man and the Book of James, you'll never be the same again. Bible scholars compare James to the prophet Amos. In other ways, James more closely resembles the Book of Proverbs than any New Testament book. James is a book with many topics -- social justice, joy, hardship, faith, reversal of fortunes for rich and poor, wisdom, gifts from above, single-mindedness, the dangers of the tongue, humility, and prayer -- all of which are covered in this study.
Preschool childcare is wonderfully provided for sessions. Pre-register your child by calling 596-8600 ext. 360.

From best-selling author Priscilla Shirer, in partnership with the creators of Courageous, comes a resolution that challenges you to realign your daily decisions in a way that glorifies God and fulfills who He created you to be. Layered with biblical truth and seasoned with encouragement, The Resolution for Women will inspire the woman you see in the mirror to trust Gods perfect plan for her life, resolving to become purposefully feminine, surprisingly satisfied, and faithfully His.

New Seasonal Bible and Life Groups Begin THIS Sunday Morning
The Early Church Emerges
Steve Plaster will be teaching this study beginning this Sunday, January 8 at 11:00 a.m. in Room WC117. The class will focus on the key events in the early development of the church. The church thrived despite persecution, martyrdom, heresies, schisms, and wars. The key elements of the Christian faith, including the incarnation, the trinity, and the nature of Christ, were formulated as orthodox and distinguished from beliefs which were deemed heretical. With the union of church and state in the Roman Empire, conflict within and the threat of Islam without presented serious challenges to the stability and growth of Christendom.
Romans
This ladies only class will be taught by Lynn Kendall beginning this Sunday, Janaury 8 at 11:00 a.m. in Room AD145. The book of Romans has been a great defense of the faith for centuries. It is, perhaps, the most complete and logical presentation of Christian truth in the entire New Testament. An understanding of this book is a key to unlocking the entire Word of God.
If you need help locating either of these classes, please stop by the Information Desk in the Commons and they will be glad to assist you.
