RECOMMENDATION: That the Board receive as information the Absence Report of the various employee groups of the Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board.
SYNOPSIS: This document reports on employee absenteeism for the period of 20092010, 2010-2011, and September to November, 2011. BACKGROUND COMMENTS: Based on the previous verbal report presented at the October 25, 2011 Board meeting, which provided some basic statistics on employee absences; a more comprehensive report was requested. This report provides statistical analysis and demonstration of trends with regard to all employee groups during three specific timelines. Statistical/Trend analysis includes: a) b) c) d) Calculation of Yearly Average Days Absent Per Employee Percentage (%) Utilization of Allocated Days Day of the Week Trend Analysis Percentage (%) of Employee Group utilizing 9 days or less
Based on further direction from the Board of Trustees and future consultation with other stakeholders such as the Ministry, Unions, the Parent Involvement Committee (PIC), etc., recommendations/next steps will be developed.

FINANCIAL IMPACT: In the context of the data presented and the Board's current financial situation, a significant reduction in the level of absences would potentially address all or a substantial portion of the Board's identified $2.4M accumulated budget deficit. This would obviate the need to implement other budget measures that would directly impact the continued delivery of high quality educational services to the Board's students.
