Once the impressions had been taken, our wax diagnostics were used to create the chairside provisionals (Figure 3), thus giving the patient an idea of what she could expect when the final restoration was delivered back to the surgery.

Laboratory procedure
Impressions of the prepared

anteriors were sent to the laboratory and models were cast-up using type 4 dental stone. The models were trimmed and prepared (Figure 4) ready to be scanned on our Straumann CAD/ CAM es2 Scanner. CAD/CAM technology was used to fabricate both the veneers UR1 and 5, UL1, 2, 3 and 4 and the bridge UR2-UR4 all in Zerion (zirconium).

Straumanns Zerion is an extremely strong zirconium (1,300mpa) and therefore is ideal in this indication when the laboratory needs good support underneath the porcelain, especially on the mesial aspects of the UR1 and UR2. Also it is adequately opacious to block out any underlying tooth discolouration. The state-of-the-art visual

software on the es2 allows the technician the capability to design the perfect structure needed. Obviously, to correct the midline in this case we had to ensure that the zirconium was adequately designed to allow full support, especially on the mesial aspect of UR1 and UR2.
