**MEDIA ADVISORY** Senate Republicans Censor Democrat Sponsored Resolution to Honor Womens Reproductive Rights
Senators & advocates raise questions & concerns over GOPs move to strike down reso supporting health and safety of women (Albany, NY) Senator Toby Ann Stavisky (D-Queens) will be joined by Senators Liz Krueger (D-Manhattan), Andrea Stewart-Cousins (D/WF-35th District) and womens rights advocates as they call on the Senate Republicans to provide an explanation for their censorship of a resolution supporting womens reproductive rights, health and safety. Senate Resolution No. 2980, sponsored and introduced by Senator Stavisky, sought to establish January 22-28, 2012 as Reproductive Rights and Justice Week in New York State. The goal of the resolution was to encourage public awareness of the challenges women face, here and across the country, when making personal, private health decisions. However, on January 18th the Resolution was returned to the senator with more than 90 percent of the language censored and replaced by the Senate Republicans. New Yorkers overwhelmingly support the reproductive rights of women. As the conference representing the majority of citizens in this state, why is the Senate GOP dismissing this evidence and waging war on the women of our state?
