SECTION P15007 SPLIT AIR CONDITIONI CONDITIONING UNITS

GENERAL
DESCRIPTION a) The following specifications are the Particular Requirements for the Split Air Conditioning Units, which supplement the Requirements contained in the Units, other Sections of ADSSC General Specifications. Extent of air conditioning work required by this Section is shown on drawings and schedules and is indicated by the requirements of this Section. Regulatory Requirements ory i. ARI Compliance. Provide capacity ratings for air conditioning equipment in accordance with Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute ARI 210 "Standard for Unitary Air Conditioning Equipment". ASHRAE Compliance. Construct refrigerating system of condensing units in accordance with American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) Standard ANSI/ASHRAE 15 "Safety Code for Mechanical Refrigeration". UL Compliance. Provide condensing units which are listed by Underwriters Laboratories (UL) and have UL label affixed.

QUALITY ASSURANCE a) b) All products shall be new. Products shall be of an experienced manufacturer. i. ii. iii. iv. Manufacturer must have similar equipment installed and successfully operating in a desert climate for a minimum of five years. for Must demonstrate equal or larger capacity operating installations using similar equipment. CONDENSER a) Construct coil of seamless copper or aluminium tubes with mechanically bonded aluminium plate fins. Coat all coils to prevent corrosion, Technicoat 10-1 phenolic coating, ACRA - CLAD, or approved equal. 1 i. ii. iii. iv. b) Use brazed tubing joints. Provide with liquid accumulator and liquid sub cooler. Provide weatherproof fused disconnect at the unit. Leak test coils at 1034 kPa and pressure test unit at 3310 kPa.

Provide aluminium alloy propeller fan, direct driven, with p permanently lubricated totally enclosed fan motor with thermal overload protection. Motor to be class F insulation, lP lP-55 protection rated for continuous operation at maximum conditions. Include suitable safety guards.

Surfaces to be cleaned and degreased. Smooth surfaces etched with wire wool and all oxidation removed using suitable abrasives. Apply a two component polyamide epoxy primer with brush or airless spray to a thickness of 50 micron minimum. Apply two coats of a two component high build acrylic - urethane two-component finish over properly cured primer. Each coat shall pr provide a minimum thickness of 50 microns. Apply by brush or airless spray.

CONDENSATE DRAIN PIP PIPING a) Use PVC piping as specified within these specification documents.

EXECUTION
INSPECTION a) b) Examine areas and conditions under which the air conditioning equipment is to be installed. Do not proceed with work until unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected in a manner acceptable to Installer.

3.2

INSTALLATION OF SPLI COOLING UNITS SPLIT a) Install split cooling air conditioning equipment in accordance with manufacturers installation instructions Install units plumb and level, firmly urers anchored in locations indicated, and maintain manufacturers recommended clearances. Electrical i. ii. Install electrical devices furnished by manufacturer but not factory mounted. Furnish elec electrical field-wiring diagrams to Electrical Installer for power wiring wiring to air conditioning equipment, and control wiring for field fieldmounted controls. Provide positive equipment ground for components. Verify that electrical wiring installation is in accordanc with accordance manufacturer's submittal and the installation requirements.

Condensing and Fan Coil Units. i. Connect pre charged refrigerant tubing to unit's quick pre-charged quick-connect fitting.

Run tubing so as not to interfere with access to unit. i. Collect condensate and pipe to nearest plant drain or the location shown on the drawings.
