A verb, is a word (part of speech) that in syntax conveys an action, for example: bring, read, walk,

run, learn, or a state of being: be, exist. In the usual description of English, the basic form, with or
without the particle to, is the infinitive. In many languages, verbs are inflected (modified in form)
to encode tense, aspect, mood and voice. A verb may also agree with the person, gender, and/or
number of some of its arguments, such as its subject, or object.


Transitive verbs

When they have direct object:

-I Close The Door (door closed).

Pass me the salt-, please (pass the salt, please).

Intransitive verbs

When they have no direct object:


-My watch stopped you (my watch has stopped).

-Time passes Slowly (slowly time passes).

Reflexive verbs

When the verb's action falls on the same subject who performs it. For these verbs the
reflexive pronoun is added for the person subject:


'I hurt Himself (was injured).

-They hurt Themselves (was injured).


Reciprocal verbs
are used to express an action by two or more subjects. When the action of the verb is
performed by two persons, the verb is followed by Each Other, but when more than two
people use One Another:


-Peter and Mary loves Each Other (Peter and Mary love each other).

The four brothers-Love One Another (the four brothers want).


Impersonal verbs

are used only in the third person singular. Correspond to weather phenomena or nature. In
English necessarily preceded by the neuter pronoun it.

-It is raining (raining).

-It snowed (it snowed).


Default verbs

is used only at certain times and replaced by other forms of others, almost always acting
as auxiliaries:

-I can open it (I can open it).

-I Could open it (I could open it).

-I will be Able to open it (I can open it).


Assistant verbs

are used for the formation of compound tenses and passive voice. Often lose their
meaning.


Regular verbs
are those who form the past participle passive and adding-ed to the present. This ending
has three pronunciations:


/ T /, if the verb stem ends in a voiceless consonant. ask - Asked, finish - finished, look -
look.


/ Id / if the root of the verb ends in-t or-d. expect - expected, INTEND - Intended


/ D /, if the root of the verb ends in vowel or consonant sound.

Un verbo es una palabra que se transmite en la sintaxis de una accin, por
ejemplo: traer, leer, caminar, correr, aprender, o un estado del ser: ser, existir. En la
descripcin habitual de Ingls, la forma bsica, con o sin la partcula, es el infinitivo. En
muchos idiomas, los verbos se flexionan (modificado en la forma)para codificar tiempo,
aspecto, modo y voz. Un verbo puede tambin estar de acuerdo con la persona, el sexo
y / o el nmero de algunos de sus argumentos, como el sujeto u objeto.

Transitivos
Cuando tienen complemento directo:
-I closed the door
-Pass me the salt, please

Intransitivos
Cuando no tienen complemento directo:
-My watch has stopped
-Time passes slowly

Reflexivos
Cuando la accin del verbo recae en el mismo sujeto que la ejecuta. Para estos verbos se aade el
pronombre reflexivo correspondiente a la persona de sujeto:
-He hurt himself
-They hurt themselves

Recprocos
Se utilizan para expresar una accin efectuada por dos o ms sujetos. Cuando la accin del verbo
es realizada por dos personas, el verbo va seguido de each other, pero cuando intervienen ms de
dos personas se usar one another:

-Peter and Mary loves each other
-The four brothers love one another

Impersonales
se utilizan slo en la tercera persona de singular. Corresponden a fenmenos atmosfricos o de la
naturaleza. En ingls van precedidos necesariamente por el pronombre neutro it.
-It is raining
-It snowed

Defectivos
se usan nicamente en algunos tiempos y se sustituyen por otras formas en los dems, actuando
casi siempre como auxiliares:
-I can open it
-I could open it
-I will be able to open it

Auxiliares
Son utilizados para la formacin de los tiempos compuestos y de la voz pasiva. Suelen perder su
significado propio.
Regulares
Son aquellos que forman el pasado y el participio de pasivo aadiendo -ed al presente. Esta
terminacin tiene tres pronunciaciones:
/t/, si la raz del verbo acaba en consonante sorda. ask - asked, finish - finished, look - looked.
/id/, si la raz del verbo acaba en -t o -d. expect - expected, intend - intended
/d/, si la raz del verbo acaba en sonido voclico o consonante sonora.
answer - answered, open - opened.
