Know your College Library

Ever wondered how many books the library of our campus has? Other than book lending service, what other facilities do the library offers you? If you are not aware of this, and would like to know, then you are reading just the right article. Offering you reference books on varied subjects, the library has a collection of 28,220 books. Along with the books, one can find 4370 HBS Cases, 2379 ICMR Cases, 3687 Study Material, 450 Annual Reports, 4499 Project Reports, 2042 CD and 1132 Bound Volume. Each book has atleast three copies and the number can go up to ten in a few cases. If you are not looking for any subject reference, the library offers you with 34 national journals and one international journal; 28 national magazines and four international magazines. These magazines will not only update you on business news, but also on varied interests like Interior Decoration, Lifestyle, and Health etc. Also, you can find a few novels, books on management leadership and competitive examinations like CAT, MAT, GRE etc. The library also updates you on daily basis, by offering you 14 newspapers daily. Apart from these services, one can access the online databases EBSCO, CMIE, EMROLD; Online Public Access Catalogue and newspaper clippings, which has been scanned and saved for future use. The library also has question banks, containing previous year question papers which you can collect for reference. There is also scanning facility available for bonafide students like us. The library remains open from 1000 hrs to 1800 hrs from Monday to Friday. However, one week prior to examination the working hours get extended from 0900 hrs to 1900 hrs, Monday to Saturday. If you make your mark and score 8 CGPA and above, you are eligible to avail Gold Card facility which allows you to get three books issued at a time. In general case, you can get only two books issued at a time. The library is well spaced and spreads over 10,000 sq. ft. The software used for Library Automation purpose is LIBSUITE. Also, digital library software called DSPACE is used, which stores CDs and papers written by faculty members, scanned word papers are stored along with newspaper clippings, videos and photographs of important functions etc. The department consists of 5 people, and is headed by Mr. Shekar H P. He informs, On addition to the above services offered, the library also provides with inter-library loan service. If the book required by the faculty or the students is not available in our library, we borrow the book from libraries of other academic institutions in the city. Before I conclude, I would like to suggest that whenever you get a book issued, before taking it out of the library, check thoroughly for any damage. If there is any damage, it should be brought to the notice immediately. Avoid making pen marks on the library books. With this, I pen down wishing all the readers, a happy reading...!!!
