Valentine Program

To include youth and children

About The youth do not see the point of celebrating Valentines Day until Valentine shares his side of the story of this holiday. However, the kids arrive and present a more meaningful glimpse into Gods love revealing that we can share this day all year around. Children Opening Song your choice on Gods love Readers (Youth) will dress in big red hats and scarfs and walk to stage to stand behind music stand or lectern provided for reading. Valentine (Youth) wears a large pink heart and carries boxes of Valentine candy. Hearts (Kids) Carry a large cut out heart to represent the color they will be speaking about. Can be hung over them.

Reader 1 I dont see any point in Valentines Day! Reader 2 It is kind of a mushy day. Reader 1 Lets just skip it this year. Reader 2 Sounds good to me..but I will sure miss the chocolate and candy hearts. Reader 1 Wellyou cant have everything your way. So which is it? Reader 2 Let me think about it (pause) Who is that!?! (Valentine enters) Valentine Did I hear that someone does not want to celebrate Valentines Day this year? Readers 1 & 2 Oh, we were just talking. Reader 1 What is the purpose of celebrating it? Valentine Every February, we celebrate Valentines Day. We give flowers, candy, and cards to those that we love and care about. Husbands give flowers to their wives, or a guy may give flowers to his girlfriend. Kids exchange cards of friendship in schools and at church. Grandparents give their grandchildren candy hearts and special treats to show them that they love them. Relatives send cards to nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins, sister and brother in laws. Reader 2 But who are YOU? Valentine I am Valentine. There are many stories and fairy tales that you will hear and read about me. One tale told about me, that I will share is about the time that I was placed in prison. I fell in love with

the jailors daughter. I mailed her a letter and signed it, Your Valentine. Since that day, many people all over the world have used those same words over and over again, especially in February for Valentines Day. Reader 1 Perhaps we will never know the REAL story about Valentine. Reader 2 Perhaps not, but one thing we DO know now is that Valentines Day is a time to celebrate our love for others. Reader 1 God loved us so much and we should show it to others. Valentine That sounds like a good idea to me. Maybe, I will learn about this great love of God. Reader 2 I think you are just about to find out. (Kids come down church isles. Five heart: kids will take place on platform to speak) Kids Extra! Extra! Read all about it (Kids will pass our newsletters provided in this program. Roll up and tie a ribbon around them) Yellow Heart God is LOVE. He is holy. He made heaven for everyone. Heaven is wonderful! There will be no tears, sadness, pain, sorrow, or sickness every again. We will be with Jesus forever and ever! (Rev. 21:21) Black Heart Black reminds us of sin. There will be no sin in heaven. Sin separates us from God and His great love. Sin separates us from

going to heaven to be with Jesus. However, God in His great love provided a way for us. (Romans 3:23) Red Heart God sent Jesus to die for our sins. He died on the cross and shed His blood, that we may be forgiven for our sin. If we confess them in faith and believe Jesus to forgive us, He will save us. He loves us so much. (I John 1:9) White Heart Jesus will make our hearts white as snow. We never need to doubt His love to us ever, ever again! If we sin, we must confess right away to keep a right relationship with Him. (Is. 1:18) Green Heart Plants and flowers need water to grow. We need to read our bible and pray to grow. As we talk to God every day, our love for Him and others will grow. When Satan tries to get you to do something wrong, say NO! Ask God for help! He loves you! Valentine That was really a good lesson about Gods love. I think that sounds much better than my story. Thank you, kids for sharing about Gods love to me, today. I see how you kids can share this love story every day of the year. It is just not for Valentines Day. Thats great!
