1. Welcome Speech by the English Panel Chairman

Encik Janting welcomed all the English teachers, particularly Encik Salem who is a new teacher at SK Serumbu. Encik Janting also thanked them for their attendance and co-operation. Information to ELTs

2. Appointment of New Secretary 2.1 Encik Andrew proposed Puan Nur Emmalizawati as the new secretary for the English Panel. The proposal was seconded by Puan Nora. Information to ELTs

3. Approval of the previous minutes 3.1 Puan Nora proposed that the Minutes of the 1st meeting 2011 to be passed. The proposal was seconded by Encik Andrew. Information to ELTs

UPSR analysis 4.1 There was a slight increased in UPSR 2011, English result, i.e. 2010 was 73% and 2011 was 74.28%. The number of candidates gets grade A decreased. (Please refer to the attendance document). The result of the final examination for the year 2011 as stated below:Year 1 KSSR Year 2 93% Year 3 88.6% Year 4 60.8% Year 5 80%

Target for UPSR 2012 is 75%.

Teachers are advised to keep proper record of the monthly test and give one copy to the Head of English Panel for documentation. Apart from that, teachers are encouraged to make full use of the textbook and activity book.

Target for the year 2012 5.1 The English Panel has decided on a new target for English achievement for 2012. The targets are as stated below:Year 1 75% Year 2 75% Year 3 75% Year 4 75% Year 5 75%

Steps taken to overcome the problem faced by the English Language Teacher

Class control is very important and need to be emphasized. Try to speak English in the class with pupils as well as outside the classroom. Level 2 pupils (Year 4 Year 6) should have their own dictionary.

English Lesson plan to be standardized for all English teachers including the reflections. Action : Every English Teachers

8. Other matters 8.1 Encik Salem asked about the implementation of School-Based Oral Assessment (SBOA) in SK Serumbu. The Head of Panel said the implementation of SBOA was done until 2009.

There was no more other matter to be discussed and the chairman thanked the members for their co-operation and attendance.
