Introduction:
The Information Management (IM) specialization was introduced in 1994, to develop business managers with a strong functional focus on Information Systems. This specialization meets the growing demand for managers who are business leaders and enhance the acumen for leveraging IT as a strategic tool for the competitive advantage to business. The program has been a great success with the industry and stands out as one of the pioneering, one-of its kind course, in the country.

Objectives:

To develop business leaders who are technology savvy and are able to architect and implement IT solutions to drive businesses. To groom information managers who will interface with the industry and management to provide solution for the business processes. To develop leaders, who can inspire new ideas, processes and practices and have effective interpersonal skills, as well To create best-in-class professionals such as IT Consultants, Solution Architects, Business Analysts, Strategy Consultants, Project Managers, Relationship Managers, IT Marketing Professionals, Business Development Managers, User IT specialists and Product Managers.

Batch Profile:
Experience, it is said, is the path to knowledge, and it is this diversity in experience that sets apart the 44 participants of the Class of 2010-12. The Information Management (IM) batch of 2010-12 has a rich mix of participants where technology, implementation and consulting experience find synergy. Bringing in a plethora of industrial experience (average work experience of 35 months) from the best known Indian IT majors and MNCs, the class of 2012 has significant domain and technical know-how in various verticals like BFSI, Manufacturing, Telecom, and Healthcare etc. With experiences ranging from Software Engineers to Research Associates the batch presents an assortment of participants with variegated work experience. Moreover, a smaller size of the batch gives participants the opportunity to really know their classmates and share their knowledge. This batch comprises of students eager to make a difference to the way the businesses are done across the world. Carrying along with them the values of SPJIMR, this bunch of participants are looking forward to contributing to their society to the best of their ability. A tailored curriculum based on the desired role and domain helps each participant to map their learning to their focused career plan. Each participant gets groomed for leadership readiness in the industry.

Activities:
Besides performing exceedingly well in the regular course the participants of this batch have won accolades for college at various competitions organised by the B-schools across the country. A SBU-IM is formed within the batch where members are elected to represent the batch. The SBU facilitates the information sharing within the batch and aids in resolving any issues that the participants may be encountering. It operates as the voice of the participants of the batch. SIMC '11: Participants of Information Management are engaged in organising SPJIMR Information Management Conclave every year. This conclave provides the participants to interface with various thought leaders across the industry. Besides the interaction with the industry leaders the conclave is also a platform to deliberate and discuss the contemporary trends in the IT industry, which is a must for any IM student. This year the SPJIMR Information Management Conclave (SIMC) was focused on world of Web 3.0 era and the impact that Web 3.0 will have in business world. The SIMC'11 had leaders from Google, Amazon, TCS Innovation Labs, IBM Research Labs, GE, Siemens IT solutions, Accenture and Adepto Solutions congregating to discuss the topic of Web 3.0 era. Guest Lectures: To keep the students abreast with industry best practices, industry experts are invited to deliver guest lectures covering wide spectrum of domains. Live Projects: Students leverage the live projects as a platform to apply their class room learning to solve some real industry problems. These projects usually last for 6-8 weeks in parallel to regular course work. Domain Interest Groups: Based on the domain preferences like Telecom, Manufacturing, BFSI, etc., students form focus groups to organize knowledge sharing sessions. This way they achieve excellent peer to peer learning.
