ABSTRACT

SUMMARY:The name of the robot is as important as giving the name of this event. The name given to our robot is OPTIMUS PRIME. The Optimus prime robot is the wired robot controlled with the help of remote control. The Optimus prime fits completely in the criteria decided by the IITIANS for this event. The complete figure of the robot optimus prime is shown as follows.

The weapon used by us is circular cutter having flipper attached with it. The cutter will have 36 V dc series motor supply to it. This motor will be attached with the chain drive/timing belt to the cutter.

Details about the weapons:The cutter is having dimensions of 250mm diameter (not including flipper circumference in it). The two flippers are going to be attached on it. Each flipper is of 20mm and they are mounted/attached on it. The material used to make entire cutter will be hardened tool steel. According to fig 1. Cutter will be rotating in clockwise direction. The grooves shown in this figure are done to distribute the load and protect from breaking the cutter itself. The weight of the cutter will be 4000 grams approx.

Details about the power supply and motors used The motor used to run the cutter will be having specification as follows. 36V dc series motor which will be having 750watt power ratings. The speed of the motor will be approx. 2500rpm (rated) which will be rated) reduced to 500/600 rpm with the help of chain drive/belt drive to gain more torque. The eliminator might be used to step down the voltage from 230V to 36V or direct 36V battery rack will be used. We are not going to use any kind of pneumatic or hydraulic cylinder. The places where the motor is going to be attached are as follows.

At all this four places (shown with the red arrows) the motors are going to be attached. DETAILS ABOUT THE REMOTE The number of remote used by us will be two. The reason to use two remote are better functioning and smooth mobility of the robot Optimus prime. Both the remote will be having toggled switches (which are used in joysticks) connected through simple wire circuits. We are not going to use any kind of sensor or radio controllers. SAFETY CONSIDRERATIONS All the products used to make optimus prime are going to be standard make. Wires used will be fire proof; they can bare the high temperature and current. Wires are strictly ISI marked. All the wires coming out from the robot will be in the single unit and they will be properly counselled and insulated.
