TEACHING EXCELLENCE OUR PROFESSORS

OUR TEACHING PROCESSES ARE IMBUED WITH EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING A KEY FOCUS OF ALL OUR FACULTY A rich pedagogy, driven by a balanced mix of faculty comprising of academicians, researchers and professionals drawn from business and industry creates the right meeting point for the best minds in the country.

16

The pedagogy offers a mixed bag of learning styles. It predominantly involves case discussions to leverage the research conducted by the students on the market and the industry, by encouraging active dialogue and debate. In areas where advanced management thought is to be imparted to students, classroom techniques are aided by simulation techniques and real life scenarios. Out of class interaction among the participants during case preparation, assignments and project presentations enable participants to learn to work in effective teams. This learning will enable them to assimilate with ease in the corporate teams, when they begin their professional career. It not only helps them to learn about group dynamics, but also leads to building life long relationships with fellow students.

The assignments which our students will undertake with SMEs, who are members of UBS Entrepreneurs Club, will bring them face to face with real time challenges faced by these organisations. With their Mentor Professors support and guidance, they will research the variables involved in the business problem being tackled. In a few weeks after the student / faculty team have submitted their recommendations to the SME concerned, they will have an opportunity to go back to the SME firm and see, how the real life situation had played out. This will enable the students to get a first hand experience of tackling challenges, faced in business and industry.

SUPPORTING YOU MENTORING OPPORTUNITIES:

We sincerely believe that mentoring sessions with our faculty, will help our students in taking responsible decisions, in respect of many facets of their life including the successful completion of their management education and enabling them to make informed career choices.

26

We have incorporated the words Transforming Lives in our Logo. It was with a serious intent, that we have included these words. Our Faculty will range in age from 25 to 55 years. They will serve as role models for our students. All Faculty members will take-on the responsibility to mentor eight students each, during every trimester. Students will have the choice to retain or change their Mentor Professor, after the first and the second trimester. We believe the proposed fortnightly Mentoring Sessions, will enable students to better understand lifes challenges and responsibilities. These Sessions can be a life changing experience, for many students, besides forging better and ever lasting relationships, between the students and the faculty.

Learning Beyond the Classroom: Realising Personal Achievement Potential

There is much more to becoming a Manager, besides developing the functional competencies, critical to job performance. Management education at UBS is designed to develop Leaders at different levels, in organisations.
To become a leader, one has to have self awareness, be a thinker and a role model to ones associates. In other words become a complete professional. This involves managing oneself, managing ones work and the managing of ones team. For this an individual needs 360 degrees development. At UBS we organise many activities to enhance the social awareness, values and general development of our students. Cultural awareness will be inculcated by assigning different student groups to organise events relating to our history and culture. Similarly, many events are organised towards enhancing awareness of global history, literature and cultures. Through these processes we seek to develop responsible citizens of the world, who are then able to fulfill their personal achievement potential, as managers in global organisations. We will establish at UBS, the Indian Institute for Leadership Development.
27

CAREERS AND EMPLOYBILITY OF OUR STUDENTS

The UBS Senate Universal Business SchoolTM has a strong interface with Industry, we have established the UBS Senate with a membership of fifty CEOs, Directors, VPs and Functional Heads from leading Indian Companies.
The Senate will meet three times a year, to review our courses, our academic processes and teaching pedagogy, before the commencement of each Trimester. The objective is to ensure that the competencies being imparted to our students, match with the requirements of business and industry. UBS also undertakes Consulting and Training assignments with many of these organisations. Our students will get opportunities for supporting several of these Consulting Assignments. This will give our students several opportunities to learn about different facets of corporate operations. They will also glean important learnings about the challenges that are faced in different industry segments.
28

The UBS Entrepreneurs Club

Our students will get opportunities to conduct Field Studies for these organisations, under the stewardship of one of their Professors. This will give them hands-on experience about real life challenges faced by entrepreneurial organisations. These opportunities will serve as an extremely useful learning experience.
Universal Business School has set-up an Entrepreneurs Club, with a membership of forty rapidly growing
TM

entrepreneurial organisations. These interactions will also provide opportunities for our students to showcase their talents, to these entrepreneurs, who could later offer placement opportunities to them. The Senate and the UBS Entrepreneurs Club will provide our Faculty and Students with ample opportunities to showcase the quality of academic rigor, practiced at our Business School. As the senior management of both these groups relate and interact with our Institute, they will be exposed to the exceptional executive talent, which our students will exhibit. This will certainly attract them towards recruiting students from UBS.

29

INTERNATIONAL EXPOSURE
We live in a globalised world. Organisations seek out global markets, source people, skills and technologies from across the globe and the entire supply chain management involves global interfaces.

We believe these endeavours on our part will improve the quality of learning to be imparted at our Business School. These interactions will prepare our students better for international assignments, during their future career with corporates. Further, having these international citizens on our Campus, will also assist in developing better understanding and relationships, between people of different races, religions and nationalities.
