1. Abrasive : Corundum Code - A96 :purity 96%, grey color Code - A98 :purity 97%-98%, light grey colour Code - A99 B e BS :purity 99,5% , white colour 2. Grain : the most common grains are between 46 and 54 (medium range) Bigger grains are available on demand,( for ex. 24,30, 36) as well as finer ones 60, 80,etc. 3. Hardness : the most employed in leather industry vary from very soft(F-G) to soft (I, J, K) or to medium hardness( M,N,O) 4. Structure : it is meant the spacing or the distance between the various abrasive granules , medium structure (5-6-7) or open structure ( 8-9 ) are the most common in tannery machines. 5. Bonding agent whose aim is to assemble the different granules in order to form a compact abrasive. ASSEMBLY, GRINDING AND STATIC BALANCING OF ABRASIVE WHEELS FOR SHAVING AND SPLITTING MACHINES
The wheel must be assembled upon hub without slack, thereafter it is necessary to grind the external surface with a diamond pointer tool. This operation must be executed upon lathe, after having assembled hub and relevant abrasive wheel upon a ground shaft . After grinding it is necessary to statically balance the wheel before assembling it upon shaving or splitting machine. You need 2 smoothed and levelled guides upon which resting the wheel. Only and exclusively following above recommendations with the utmost care, you can obtain a very good result. Should the operation not be properly done, or after prolonged work or for other unforeseeable reasons, some faults of shaving/splitting may happen due to possible vibration of the un-balanced wheel; repeating the assembly, grinding and balancing as said above is then suggested. In case of particular delicate process and/or high precision thickness, it is recommended to check the balancing of the wheel during its life at least 2 or 3 times. By wear and tear and then with diameter reduction, the wheel may lose the initial balancing : it is necessary then to repeat the balancing as above-described.
