Following receipt of your request searches were conducted within Nottinghamshire Police to locate information relevant to your request. Please find below answers to your questions:RESPONSE Under S 1 (1) (a) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA), I can confirm that Nottinghamshire Police does hold the information you have requested. 1. The total amount of money that has been spent on purchasing police vehicles (cars and vans) for the years 2006 till 2009. Nottinghamshire Police have spent 1,444,278.26 on the purchase of vans between 2006 and 2009. This amount is for capital purchases only and does not represent any of the vehicle charges incurred as part of the 25 year PFI vehicle fleet arrangement with Venson.

2. The total figure broken down by make of vehicle i.e., 100,000 was spent on Volvo vehicles, 93,000 was spent on Ford vehicles and so forth. 3. The total number of high-performance police vehicles that Nottinghamshire Police currently holds (cars only). Please provide the data on individual cars, i.e., Nottinghamshire Police currently holds 1 x Jaguar XJ6, 3 x Suburu Imprezas, 1 x BMW 3 Series and so forth. The Force currently operates the following quantities of high performance cars: Volvo V70 Volvo S60 BMW x5 BMW 530D BMW 330D BMW 730D 38 1 1 2 1 1

4. The average cost of applying stickers, lights, sirens etc to a marked police car/van and an unmarked car/van. The average price of applying emergency equipment to overt police vehicles is 5500 Volvo type of vehicle, 4000 Focus type of vehicle. The average price of fitting emergency equipment to covert police vehicles is approx 1750.00.

5. How often police cars and vans are upgraded There is a continual evaluation of vehicles for each operational role. This evaluation includes suitability to role, price, environmental impact etc. Nottinghamshire Police have a varied replacement cycle dependent on the type of vehicle and the role it performs. Replacement cycles vary from 3 years to 15 years. The majority of our fleet comprises of Ford Focus and Volvo V70 estates and these are scheduled to be replaced every 4 years or 100,000 miles. 6. Disclose what the police criteria for accepting a car/van as a police vehicle is, i.e., it has to be 5 door, 2.5 litre engine, diesel powered etc The criteria for accepting a car / van as a police vehicle depends on the role the vehicle will perform. However, all vehicles must pass tests that confirm the braking systems will cope with the arduous use required of them and that none of the vehicle electronics will interfere with electronic / radio equipment fitted by ourselves.
