What are the reasons and
deeds which increase re-
ward?
The answer, and success is
with Allah; increasing the
reward of righteous ac-
tions to the amount of 10
fold is something that oc-
curs in every righteous
deed as the Most High
said, "Whoever brings a
good deed shall have ten
times the like thereof to
his credit" (Al-An'am
6:160)
As far as increasing the
reward of good deeds be-
yond that, which is the
intent of the question,
then there are reasons or
causes directly connected
to the one performing the
deed, the deed itself, its
time, place, or effect.
From the most important
causes for the reward of a
righteous deed to be in-
creased is the worshipper
actualizing in his/her deed
sincerity to the One he/
she is worshipping i.e. Al-
lah and following the prac-
tice of the prophet (salla
whoever prays the month
of Ramadan while faith (in
its obligation) seeking the
reward from Allah, he will
be forgiven for what has
proceeded of sin." And
there are many texts which
contain a similar meaning.
A few deeds performed
with full sincerity outweigh
many which do not reach
their level of strong sincer-
ity and for this the outward
actions are given superior-
ity by Allah i.e increased in
reward, in accordance with
their superiority estab-
lished in the hearts or
strength of faith and sin-
cerity. Included in the ac-
tions which are increased
in reward according to the
sincerity of the worshipper
is abandoning the souls
desires of that which is
impermissible if those de-
sires are left sincerely from
the heart for no other rea-
son (other than Allah) and
the people of the cave's
story is an evidence for
this

Indeed all Praises are for Allah alone. We praise Him, seek His assistance, and seek His forgiveness. And we seek refuge in Him from
the evil of our own selves and the evil consequences of our actions. Whomever Allah guides, there is no one to lead him astray, and
whomever is lead astray, there is no guide for him. I testify that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah, who is alone without
any partner, and I testify that Muhammad is His slave and final messenger. To proceed:

parents, or your kin, be he rich or
poor, Allah is a Better Protector to
both (than you). So follow not the
lusts (of your hearts), lest you may
avoid justice, and if you distort your
witness or refuse to give it, verily,
Allah is Ever WellAcquainted with
what you do. (An-Nisa 4:135). So it is
a must that the individual bear witness
even if it is against his own father, his
son, all of his relatives, even his
mother, for the sake of Allah the
Mighty and Majestic and it is not per-
missible for him to conceal that witness
if it is against them nor is it permissible
for him to witness against his enemies
with that which is false because Allah
the Most High said, O you who be-
lieve! Stand out firmly for Allah and
be just witnesses and let not the en-
mity and hatred of others make you
avoid justice (Al-Ma'idah 5:8). It is
truly very sad that we hear of people
who attend that masjid and are persis-
tent in performing righteous deeds but
they are negligent in regards to bearing
witness doing so upon doubt, that
which they do not know, or that which
they know is in opposition to the truth.
They are bold with this terribly evil
affair either out of protection for a rela-
tive, showing affection to a friend, out
of love for the rich, or compassion for
someone poor claiming that he wants
rectification thus his evil action has
been beautified and he sees it as some-
thing good just as it has been beautified
for others of doubt and corruption and
they see it as being good. The hypo-
crites have had hypocrisy beautified in
their hearts, And when it is said to
them: "Make not mischief on the
earth," they say: "We are only
peacemakers." (Al-Baqarah 2:11) and,
Verily! They are the ones who
make mischief, but they perceive
not. (Al-Baqarah 2:12) The reality is
that Allah will not increase them except
in distance (from the truth), those who
witness for the poor, in consideration
of their situation and they know that it
is in opposition to what they witness.
They say, we bear witness for them,
show them mercy and do not harm
them but the reality is that that they
oppress them by giving them some-
thing they do not deserve. There are
sometimes when people witness for
others with what they do not know
they deserve, perhaps witnessing for
them with that which they know they
do not deserve claiming to be compas-
sionate and merciful but as I men-
tioned this person is being oppressive
and not merciful. There are people
who witness for neglectful employees
making up excuses for there negligence
which are not real like being sick while
the person is not actually sick or ex-
tremely busy while he is not busy at all
or that he is busy renting cars etc. for
that sake of a job while in fact he did
not do so. Likewise there are people
who witness for a person that has per-
formed a job for a certain time while
he did not do so or perhaps never per-
formed the job ever, and the one wit-
nessing claims that he is making such a
witness out of rectification and does
not realize that he is harming himself
with this witness and harming the one
he is witnessing for. The prophet
(salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said, aid
your brother be he an oppressor or
oppressed and they said, messenger
of Allah, the oppressed (can be aided)
so how about the oppressor? He said,
prevent him from oppressing which is
aiding him. Bearing false witness is a
cause for loss of rights and elimination
of honesty, it shakes faith and trust
and rips apart the rulings and judg-
ments and confuses the leaders and
those who are in positions of responsi-
bility. Thus it is corruption in the re-
ligion and the world. The prophet
(salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said, the
one who bears false witness will not
cease until Allah obligates him to the
fire, which was reported by Hakim
who said that it had an authentic chain
of narration. So beware of the false
witness even if the devil beautifies it in
your hearts.

A Friday Sermon

Bearing witness is a great affair in all
dealings. Bearing witness in a marriage
contract is considered by many schol-
ars to be a condition to its validity and
is not valid without the witness of just
men, just as this witness is a condition
for the one who returns to their
spouse after divorce. Divorce is also
something which is to be witnessed, so
establish this witness for the sake of
Allah and do not be negligent with this
issue for perhaps the one who owes
something may deny it out of forget-
fulness or oppression. This witness
preserves and safeguards these rights
for you so do not neglect it especially
when it comes to obligatory agree-
ments. Allah the Most High said, O
you who believe! When you con-
tract a debt for a fixed period, write
it down. (Al-Baqarah 2:282) and,
And get two witnesses out of your
own men. And if there are not two
men (available), then a man and
two women, such as you agree for
witnesses, so that if one of them
(two women) errs, the other can
remind her. And the witnesses
should not refuse when they are
called on (for evidence) (Al-
Baqarah 2:282). Establish this witness
for Allah alone and do not favor in this
witness a relative due to his relation-
ship with you, or a friend due to his
friendship, the rich because of their
wealth, the poor due to their poverty,
and do not establish it upon someone
strange, being far removed from you,
or and enemy because of that enmity,
so do not testify for that which is not
an obligation because he is your enemy
rather you are to establish this witness
for Allah alone just as He ordered you
for He is the Glorified and the Ruler
between you, who knows your honesty
and that which you make public. So
establish it as Allah said, O you who
believe! Stand out firmly for justice,
as witnesses to Allah, even though
it be against yourselves, or your
