I. SUMMARY The Community Affairs Manager will be responsible for ensuring active and engaged communities around a defined topic or topics by managing calendars and participating in conversations to build brand visibility and thought leadership. The individual filling this position must possess great energy, excellent time management, organizational skills, and excellent communications skills. This position reports to the General Manager. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Identify and engage advocates; Proactively escalate issues, observations, opportunities, and insights to the executive team; Communicate issues, opportunities, and insights to the company at large; Stay up to date on new social media tools, best practices and how other organizations and companies are using them, so that the company can continue to be an early adopter of these technologies; Participate in professional networking by following the prominent bloggers and online writers and attending events; Work with local organizations to develop master list of project ideas and plans; Coordinate logistics, planning, promotion and staffing of volunteer initiatives; Assist with creation, conception, and presentation of social media strategy; Interpret the direction of strategy/planning creative leads; Communicate and coordinate client service, production and strategy/planning teams ensuring that community strategy supports overall brand goals and objectives; Coordinates advertising schedules and placement, as required for ads placed in community program books, newsletters, etc.; Reviews specifications sheets, obtains and prepares bids, and acts as liaison with vendors in such areas as delivering marketing material, scheduling proofs, and meetings; Supports the company internal and external event planner and manager; Liaises with parties identified in CBA external law enforcement, political, and public agencies; Involvement in city council meetings and activities; Coordinate all MWBE initiatives and report quarterly results to CBA executive board; Other duties as assigned;

III. QUALIFICATIONS The qualifications listed below represent the credentials necessary to perform the essential functions of this position. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals to perform the essential functions. A. Education and/or experience Bachelors degree required;

3-5 years experience working within similar role;

B. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Must be able to work long, flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays; Must have strong working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access); Must have public-speaking ability; Must have the presence, visibility and record of accomplishment which will enable him/her to immediately establish credibility both within the organization and with individuals external to it; Proven interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively to all levels; Must have the ability to maintain an impeccable professional appearance; Must possess a strong ability to manage ones own time and prioritize tasks when given clearly defined goals and objectives; Must have the ability to demonstrate uncompromised judgment and discretion with regard to interpersonal relationships; Must have a strong sense of self-awareness and emotional intelligence; Must be able to maintain confidentiality and use upmost discretion when privy to sensitive information; Must have truly outstanding customer service skills, solid judgment and interpersonal effectiveness; Must be self-directed and able to work independently; Must be flexible & reliable team player, both within own department and within the company as a whole; Must possess strong communication skills: must be comfortable with engaging in a variety of different communicative modes (verbal, non-verbal, and written) and being attuned to others through strong active listening skills; Able to identify problems, their sources, and their potential solutions while continuing to successfully conduct day-to-day operations without interruption; Must have a strong command of reasoned, measured decision-making based upon analyzing the pros and cons of each potential decision to be made;

IV. WORKING CONDITIONS A. Travel Requirements Infrequent Traveler (<5% travel): The incumbent may be required to travel on a very limited basis. Trips may require air travel and/or overnight stay away from home for one or more nights. B. Physical Demands This position requires the ability to lift up to 10 pounds. C. Work Environment

The incumbent primarily works in an office environment, however, is expected to attend shows, games and other events taking place at the Barclays Center including events on weekends and holidays.
