Design plays a primary role in the interpretation of a message. It creates a crucial, lasting impression.

It encourages examination and generates interest. Accessible, understandable information and beauty of form can engage observers and arrest their attention. Design not only creates interaction, it also looks into how different people from different religion, race and age react to. Every designer have different methods of approaching a problem and handling. Coming up with creative idea takes time and experience. For me, I always start thinking of the target audience first. Putting myself into their shoes and understand their behaviour. Yes, I love exprimental layouts! In my view, exprimental layouts have very strong focal point which balances with white space. In times where there is a need to break away from the usual margins, experimental layouts makes visual more interesting. Design plays a primary role in the interpretation of a message. Design a Mooncake packaging.

Brief

Mooncake packaging

The box design is themed Box within Box. It has four boxes protruding out from a bigger box. Each of the four boxes contains one moon cake. Traditionally, with the larger moon cake boxes, all four moon cakes will be exposed whenever the box is opened. With this design, each of the moon cake is hygienically kept until its box is opened. The Chinese characters Zhong Qiu are embossed across the four boxes, creating much impact.

In my design, I used the silver color which is produced from the aluminum can. I choose to make use of the silver color from the can because it is bright and shines. It thus attracts peoples attention to the product. In addition, the heart shape in the I of the kiss is to relate to the word kiss. Overall, the design conveys the message of active healthy drink. With logo that is bold and strong, it directs the eye to the logo. Followed by the designs on the background, the curves and lines gives a feel of lively. It also creates movement around the can.

Our concept is an innovative flipbook and a brochure. We decided to introduce the typefaces of Akzidenz Grotesk through the flipbook by coming up with a story of Mr Akzidenz. The story is about Mr Akzidenz waking up in the morning to have his morning exercise. By flipping the book, you will see the movement and slight changes of Mr Akzidenz, changing from different typefaces of Akzidenz Grotesk from regular, medium to super. This flipbook is interactive and fun and allows people to have an idea of Akzidenz Grotesk.

We also came up with a brochure and poster idea. The brochure provides information of the characteristics of Akzidenz Grotesk. It also provides a short history of Akzidenz Grotesk. After reading and flipping the brochure, you will see a poster. This poster allows you to put it up so as to represent that you have bought Akzidenz Grotesk.

Linotype sells a version of Akzidenz Grotesk under the name "Basic Commercial." This is based on Linotype's digitization of the typeface, which is also sold under the Akzidenz Grotesk name by various foundries; Linotype uses a different name to avoid trademark infringement. However, as of 2008, Linotype's online store also sells Akzidenz Grotesk and other Berthold variants under the original names.

Akzidenz Grotesk is sometimes at first glance mistaken for the Helvetica or Univers typefaces. The similarities of Helvetica and Akzidenz Grotesk are apparent, but the subtle differences include the uppercase and lowercase C and the uppercase G, J, R and Q. Aside from the subtle differences in these individual letters, Miedinger's primary change to Akzidenz Grotesk is Helvetica's higher x-height, the distance from the baseline to the height of the lowercase letter x. The general effect is that Helvetica appears more oblong while Akzidenz Grotesk maintains circular counters and bowls.

Design a logotype of yourself and create a logo style guide of that logotype.

Simple Junk is inspired from my name, JunKai. Im a very simple person with a cool and fun personality. The irregular fluctuating lines next to Simple Junk shows the heartbeat waves in me. Rising and falling of the wave shows the ups and downs of me (happy, sad, excited). The colour of the logo is Creative Grey, Cool Black and Distinctive Grey for tagline. I chose Creative Grey because it stands out from many other colourful and striking logo. It also represents the logotype Simple, being simple. Cool Black enhances the overall look by standing out from white backgrounds with just a small spot of black. Distinctive grey will make our logo a monochromatic colour which relates to being Simple Junk. The tagline nothing stops us from creativity shows the belief that I have. No matter what difficulties I faced, I will put in all my effort and keep trying and trying.

Font I used VAL font for my milkybites logo. As my product is targeted at teenagers and adults, I chose font that is more interesting. VAL is a fat fluffy font. It makes my logo more attractive. To bring in the bites in my logo, I modified the strokes of the bites, making it look as if it is bitten off. This allows my logo to feel more fun. Color I used gradients of brown and darker brown in my logo. Brown is chosen because it relates to chocolate. Gradients of brown allow my logo to look more threedimensional and rounded. Tagline The tagline The Crunchiest Bite relates to my logo. It also tells people that my chocolate product unique selling point is the crunchy part.

With the final logo design, I decided to go ahead with the idea of having the bite as the main identity of my brand. Box Since the idea is to show the breaking up (being the crunchiest bite), I designed a pair of rectangular box that is when placed together, It forms into a full image. However, when it is on its own, it still allows the audience to know the brand despite not showing the full picture. Carrier In addition to my design, I also look into the sense of touch. The material I chose for my carrier is Senzo by Corvon. Its offset printable soft matte finish that is luxuriously appealing to the touch. It is soft yet durable latex-saturated decorative covering material. To me it feels like rubber textured paper. Having a special texture carrier will create an impression from the targetted audience. It makes them remember the brand milkybites. Sticker To advertise on my brand, I designed a sticker that allows to be paste on the floor. This gives a brief idea and introduction to my brand.

With the 3 taglines and body copy, I designed 1 poster, door hanger and a mousepad. The poster allows people to have a brief idea of what linkedin is. The door hanger is to be hang in mrt train where it reaches out to the working adults. It gives a deeper impression as the door hanger is specially designed in three-dimensional. Design a simple booklet and posters for NUS School of Information Systems for the open house.

Brief

This is my first freelance job to design a booklet for the open house. This booklet is the first booklet for the School of Computing Department of Information System (IS). Being unable to refer to last year design and format, I look through booklet from the other schools. I was quite lost at the beginning because I wasnt really sure how to begin even though I had the required software knowledge. So I set some requirements on my own and work together with my 2 other friends and a photographer. The booklet consist of 40 pages and is perfect bound with uv varnish at the front and back cover.

Using the school environment, suggest any advertisement that makes uses of the enviornment and superimpose your ideas.

Jobstreet.com Toilet sign Advertisement Our advertisement is a continuation of the toilet sign that is protruding out, with more figures following the first two male and female figures, each figure depicting a different occupation. We would like to use a pun in our advertisement in that if you are urgent for a job, go to Jobstreet.com much like how you are urgent to use the toilet. Jobstreet.com Lift sign Advertisement Our advertisement shows two various occupational figures on every floor of the lift, this relates to Jobstreet.com in the sense that like the website, every page somewhere, there is a right job for you. Jobstreet.com Escalator Advertisement We play on the fact that the escalators move up and are used by many people at peak hours by putting in legs of various working people attire as decoration on the exterior of the escalator. This gives the impression that these people are the ones actually in this attire as they take the escalator. At the end of the escalator, which is moving up, shows the logo and signage, Jobstreet.com. This gives an effect that all these working legs are queuing up to get a job at jobstreet.com which shows how hot and popular the website is.

Given 2 words randomly pick from the dictionary, you are to come up with a poster on social issue linking the 2 words together. Design an creative A2 size poster and do a survey on the targetted audience to test if they understand your poster.

The stickman in my poster is shown to be made up of milk and there is a glass filled with milk pouring into the stickman. Without the usage of lines, I used typography to create imaginary lines that forms the lower part of the stickman(male and female). The purpose is also to catch attention from a focal point at the glass of milk plus a familiar image of toilet stickman within 3 seconds. With that, it brings them to the tagline of Milk Your Bones and a sub headline that explains about osteoporosis. The colour is blue and pink I have used is Blue and pink. I used a very light shade of blue and pink to make it more pleasing to the eyes and make it look more friendly. It allows my poster to stand out from many striking bright-coloured poster. Blue will be for the male and pink for the females.

In this copywriting project, I have to change the copy genre of the given body copy and come up with creative headlines and also consider the graphics or images or illustrations that will work with the written copy.

I approached this copywriting project in a situational method. The concept is about a mother using the phone to get in contact with his son. With Tridents GPS technology, the mother is able to track down his son, Ah boy. Well, the mother could have called his son to ask where his son is, however, knowing that his son may lie to her that he is in school, the GPS technology actually makes it easier done that said. So, from the visual in the advertisment, it shows a map where ah boy is. In this case, the ah boy is actually not in school but located near parklane which most arcade and lan shops were. The other advertisment is similar but it is targetted more towards the working adults. A slight modification was made to the headline and it changes the idea to a wife tracking down her husband who was said to be attending to the client. The result was that the husband was found located somewhere near Geylang.
