2012-2013 Terry Foundation Scholarship Application Guidelines for University of North Texas Candidates

Qualifications
To be considered for the Terry Foundation Scholarship, students must demonstrate the following: be a U.S. citizen or Permanent Resident of the United States; be a 2012 graduate from a Texas high school or Texas home-school; admission to the University of North Texas as a full-time student for 2012-2013; strong academic abilities, as evidenced by grades and SAT scores; a record of leadership in school and community; financial need; reside on campus for the first year; and be (and remain) unmarried and without children.

Application Process and Deadlines


1. Apply for admission to the University of North Texas. 2. Submit a Terry Scholarship application online by Sunday, January 15th. 3. Submit the following documents by mail: A signed and completed 2012-2013 Terry Scholarship Application form (attached). An official high school transcript and a copy of any college transcripts. This should be in addition to any transcript previously sent to the University of North Texas or the UNT Honors College. Two (2) letters of recommendation in sealed envelopes. (At least one of your letters must be written by one of your core subject teachers (English, math, history, or science). Both letters should speak to your academic and leadership abilities. Each letter must be SIGNED by the teacher or person recommending you.) 4. File a FAFSA on-line between January 1st and March 31st. You are encouraged to include a printed copy of your Student Aid Report from your 2012-2013 FAFSA with this application. 5. Apply for on-campus housing no later than March 31st. For more information, please refer to the UNT Housing website (www.unt.edu/housing/). Exceptions will not be granted for Terry Scholars to live off-campus during the first year.

Nomination Process
All completed applications received (with all requested supplemental documents) will be reviewed by the University of North Texas. Then, UNT will nominate 42 applicants for the Terry Foundation Scholarship. The Terry Foundation will conduct interviews of each nominee. The Terry Foundation will award up to 26 scholarships for use during the 2012-2013 academic year. Please know that the University of North Texas serves as a nominating body only; all final decisions regarding scholarship awards are made by the Terry Foundation.
