Foreword
We are pleased to welcome you as new customer of our Astaro Hardware Appliances. To install and configure the hardware appliance you can use the following documents: N Quick Start Guide Hardware: Connection to the system peripherals in a few steps N Operating Instructions: Notes on the security and commissioning of the hardware appliance N Administration Guide: Installing and configuring the software appliance The Quick Start Guide Hardware and the Operating Instructions are also delivered in printed form together with the hardware appliance. The instructions must be read carefully prior to using the hardware and should be kept in a safe place. You may download all user manuals and additional documentation from the Astaro Knowledgebase under: http://www.astaro.com/kb. Select the sub-registry Astaro Manuals and Guides.

Designed Use
The hardware appliances are developed for a use in networks. Any appliance must be operated in rack systems. Functional reliability and operational safety outside of a rack cannot be guaranteed. An exception is the ASG 110/120 model. It may be operated outside a rack as standalone appliance. The hardware appliance can be used in commercial, industrial and residential environments. It is compliant to FCC and CE. The ASG 110/120 model belongs to the appliance group B. All other hardware appliances belong to the appliance group A. The hardware appliance must be installed pursuant to the current installation notes. Otherwise the failure-free and safe operation cannot be guaranteed. Security Notes

If this notes are not correctly observed: N This is dangerous to life and the environment! N The appliance may become damaged N The functions of the appliance will be no longer guaranteed N Astaro shall not be liable for damages arising from a failure to comply with the security notes
security notes The appliance can be operated safely if you observe the notes in these Operating Instructions and on the appliance itself. N Never reach into the appliance. There are contact dangerous circuits inside the appliance which might provoke death in case of contact. N Damaged appliances must be returned. It is prohibited to open the hardware appliance and/or to exchange its components. Failure to comply with this rule will result in a loss of the warranty cover from Astaro! The chapter "Return Material Authorization" contains the required information on the return process. N Connect the device only to a power socket with flawless earth conductor. Deficient earth conductor connections do not comply with the requirements for safety and electromagnetic compatibility. Let the power socket be controlled by a specialized dealer before connecting the hardware appliance. N Before you switch on the appliance make sure that your mains voltage complies with the supply voltage of the appliance. The connection data are indicated: N on the name plate (upper side) N in chapter "Technical Specifications" N To separate the appliance completely from the mains, remove the power cable from the power socket. Make sure that the power plug is freely accessible. Turning off by the power switch does not completely separate the appliance from the mains. N Make sure that no one can trip over the power cable and that it can not be damaged by objects. N Only connect system peripherals complying with the requirements for protective extra-low voltage according to EN/IEC 60950-1. N Only use the supplied and/or spare parts and accessories validated by Astaro. Use of non approved spare parts and accessories may drastically affect the functions of the appliance and your safety. The supplied parts are indicated in the Quick Start Guide Hardware.
N The appliance produces heat so that a sufficient air circulation to remove the heat must be ensured in the final application. N Avoid a permanent high level of air humidity and formation of condensation water. Protect the appliance from humidity and chemicals. Safe use of the appliance is no longer possible if: N the chassis is damaged N water penetrated into the appliance N objects entered into the appliance via air opening N smoke comes out of the appliance N the power cable is damaged N it does no longer work properly N Immediately turn off your appliance in the event of one of the above problems, remove the power cable from the power socket and contact your competent customer service as soon as possible. N We expressly exclude any product liability and warranty claims if the appliance is not operated according to the instructions in these Operating Instructions and to the notes attached to the appliance itself!

4.
CE Labeling, FCC and Approvals

The hardware appliances meet all the provisions arising from the CE labeling and the FCC approval. ce labeling (europe) The hardware appliances comply with all provisions of the low voltage and EMC directive. Fcc Approval (usA) The ASG 110/120 model belongs to the appliance group B. All other hardware appliances comply with all FCC provisions for devices of the class A. Further Approvals VCCI (Japan) C-Tick (Australia) Important Note: For computer systems to remain CE- and FCC-compliant, only CE- and FCC-compliant parts may be used. Maintaining CE and FCC compliance also requires proper cable and cabling techniques.

lcd and control Keys all rack models have an LCD and an operating unit with four membrane keys. In the LCD, 16 characters per line can be displayed. The display contains in three cycling views information on the hardware and specific system states.

With the membrane keys three actions can be executed: N Factory Reset: All settings are reset to the factory settings. The factory reset function sets all of the configuration settings and options to their original state. All data entered after the initial installation will be deleted, including the HTTP proxy cache, the entire e-mail queue, accounting and reporting data, passwords, and uninstalled Up2Date packages. The version of the software will not change. That is, all firmware and pattern updates that have been installed will be retained.
N Reboot Machine: The security appliance is rebooted. The reboot action will shut down the system completely and reboot.
N Shut down: The security appliance is shut down. The shut down action allows you to shut down the system, and allows you to cleanly stop all running services. The keys have the following functions: The current menu is left. When the key is pressed a couple of times, the modifications are discarded and the initial state will be displayed. Those keys are used to switch between the different menus and/or characters.
Pressing executes the configured action.

Starting Factory Reset: 1. Press the Enter key. 2. Press the key. The following message will be displayed: All data erased! 3. Press the Enter key. Are you sure? Placing into Operation

scope of supply The supplied parts are indicated in the Quick Start Guide Hardware. Mounting instructions The hardware model ASG 110/120 can be mounted to a stable horizontal surface. All other hardware appliances are designed for a use in racks. For all rack models please consider the following security hints: Important Note: The appliance is designed for a use in rack systems. Functional reliability outside of a rack cannot be guaranteed. Warnings and Precautions: The appliance can be operated safely if you observe the following notes and the notes on the appliance itself.
Rack Precautions: N Ensure that the leveling jacks on the bottom of the rack are fully extended to the floor with the full weight of the rack resting on them. N In single rack installation, stabilizers should be attached to the rack. N In multiple rack installations, the racks should be coupled together. N Always make sure the rack is stable before extending a component from the rack. N You should extend only one component at a timeextending two or more simultaneously may cause the rack to become unstable.

General Server Precautions: N Review the electrical and general safety precautions that came with the components you are adding to your appliance. N Determine the placement of each component in the rack before you install the rails. N Install the heaviest server components on the bottom of the rack first, and then work up. N Allow the hot plug hard drives and power supply modules to cool before touching them. N Always keep the racks front door, all panels, and components on the servers closed when not servicing to maintain proper cooling.
Rack Mounting Considerations: N Ambient Operating Temperature: If installed in a closed or multi-unit rack assembly, the ambient operating temperature of the rack environment may be greater than the ambient temperature of the room. Therefore, consideration should be given to installing the equipment in an environment compatible with the manufacturers maximum rated ambient temperature. Reduced Airflow: Equipment should be mounted into a rack so that the amount of airflow required for safe operation is not compromised. N Mechanical Loading: Equipment should be mounted into a rack so that a hazardous condition does not arise due to uneven mechanical loading. N Circuit Overloading: Consideration should be given to the connection of the equipment to the power supply circuitry and the effect that any possible overloading of circuits might have on overcurrent protection and power supply wiring. Appropriate consideration of equipment nameplate ratings should be used when addressing this concern. N Reliable Ground: A reliable ground must be maintained at all times. To ensure this, the rack itself should be grounded. Particular attention should be given to power supply connections other than the direct connections to the branch circuit (i.e. the use of power strips, etc.).

rack Mounting instructions To mount the appliance to the rack you need the delivered rack-mount brackets and rails. There are a variety of rack units on the market, which may mean the assembly procedure will differ slightly. You should also refer to the installation instructions that came with the rack unit you are using. Because of the dimension and weight the models Astaro Security Gateway 525 and 625 are delivered with a special rail kit. The chassis package includes two rail kits. Each kit consists of two sections: a short inner rail and a long outer rail. The inner rail has six round holes and two fastenings. The outer rail has long ovals. Important Note: Make sure you use the screws supplied with the rack-mount brackets. Using the wrong screws could damage the hardware appliance and would invalidate your warranty.
1. Attach the rack-mount brackets to the appliance: 1.1| Place the appliance on a hard flat surface with the front panel facing you. 1.2| Attach the rackmount brackets to the left and right side of the appliance with the supplied screws. 1.3| Make sure the brackets are properly attached to the appliance. Important Note: The rails for ASG 525 and ASG 625 will fit a rack of 600 mm/23.6 deep. The rack models ASG 220, 320, and 425 are not delivered with rails. Please observe the mounting instructions for your rack.
2. Choose the rack location: Leave enough clearance in front of the rack to enable you to open the front door completely (~60 cm/25 inches). Leave approximately 80 cm/30 inches of clearance in the back of the rack to allow for sufficient airflow and ease in servicing.

This product is for installation only in a Restricted Access Location (dedicated equipment rooms, service closets and the like).
3. Only ASG 525 and ASG 625: Install the rails to the rack:
3.1| Telescope the inner and the outer rail. 3.2| Secure the inner rail at the back side of the rack by using the fastenings. 3.3| Pull the outer rail from the inner rail. 3.4| Secure the front of the outer rail to the rack by using the triplex perforated washer and three M5 rack screws. 3.5| Secure the inner rail to the outer rail by using M5 screws. 3.6| Secure the inner rail at the back of the rack by using a M5 screw. 3.7| Repeat these steps with the other rail kit.
4. Slide the appliance into the rack. 5. Attach the brackets to the rack with the appropriate screws (not included). connection and configuration How to connect the appliance is described in the Quick Start Guide Hardware. To get an initial setup please follow the description in the Administration Guide.

7.
RAID Hard Disk System

The Astaro Security Gateway 525 and 625 models are equipped with a RAID system with two hard disks. A RAID system (Redundant Array of Independent Disks) comprises several physical hard disks to one particularly performing logical drive. Through the use of this type of hard disk system, the transfer rate and data security are enhanced. In addition to that, the availability of the security appliance is increased since a defective hard disk can easily and quickly be exchangedit is not necessary to shut down the system. The RAID system can be monitored via the graphical user interface Webadmin. The current status of the RAID system is displayed on the Dashboard in the RAID status section. In addition to that, a corresponding Notification E-mail is sent to the administrator in the event of a defect in a hard disk. Important Note: If you need to change a hard disk because of a defect, remember in particular to remove the defective hard disk from the RAID system, otherwise the complete security appliance will fail. Please note that the safe operation of the hardware appliance is only ensured in the long term if both hard drives are operated. Immediately exchange damaged hard drives. Only use hard disks which you purchased directly from Astaro or from an Astaro distribution partner. Please remember that any warranty claims are not available for the appliance if a defect has been caused by the use of hard disks which are not suited for the system.

Exchanging the hard disk:
1. Identify the defective hard disk. In the event of a hardware defect, the Dashboard of the WebAdmin user interface will display the defective hard disk: e.g., HDD1 (right hard disk). 2. Use the delivered key to open the hard disk latch. 3. Unlock the hard disk by pushing the latch to the left and pulling the lever in your direction. 4. Remove the hard disk from the chassis. 5. Now, insert the new hard disk into the chassis. 6. Lock the hard disk by pushing the lever in the direction of the chassis. Lock the latch at the hard disk.
Important Note: Except for short periods of time (swapping hard disks), do not operate the server with an empty hard disc drive. As soon as the security appliance detects the new hard disk, the existing hard disk is mirrored to the new hard disk. This process may take 30 minutes or more. The current status of the RAID system is displayed on the Dashboard in the RAID status section. Prior to and after termination of the saving process, a corresponding Notification E-mail will be sent to the administrator.

8.
Redundant Power Supply

The Astaro Security Gateway 525 and 625 models are equipped with a redundant power supply. The power supply system consists of two separate power supply units. This power supply system increases the availability of the security appliance, since a defect power supply unit can be exchanged easily and quickly during operation. When the system is running error-free, the Power fail LED on the front doesn't light and the LED on the back of the appliance shows green. In the event of a hardware defect of one of the power supply units these LEDs will be red and accompanied by a continuous beeping sound. The warning sound can be reset by pressing the red buzzer reset switch of the system chassis. This buzzer reset switch is on the back of the appliance right beside the power supply system.
Important Note: If you need to change a power unit because of a defect, remember in particular to remove the defective power unit from the power supply system, otherwise the complete security appliance will fail. Protect yourself from potential burns by wearing protective gloves when exchanging a power supply unit. Only use power units which you purchased directly from Astaro or from an Astaro distribution partner. Please remember that any warranty claims are not available for the security appliance if a defect has been caused by the use of power units which are not suited for the system.

Exchanging a power supply unit:
1. Identify the defective power supply unit. Locate the defective power supply unit by examining the individual LEDs of each unitno LED light indicates a failure of the unit. 2. On the right side, open the interlock of the power supply unit. 3. Use the special bracket to pull the power supply unit out of the chassis.
4. Now, insert the new power supply unit into the chassis. 5. Lock the new power supply unit. 6. Plug the power cable back into the connector of the new power supply unit and check the following LED displays: > LED of the new power supply unit lights green. > LED indicating the total system power status lights green. As soon as the new power supply unit is detected and functional, the beeping sound will disappear.

9.
SFP GBIC Port

Whether your appliance comes equipped with SFP GBIC ports or not, depends on the model. To find out whether your appliance is equipped with SFP GBIC ports or not, please refer to chapter "Technical Specifications". The abbreviation SFP GBIC stands for Small Form-factore Plugable GigaBit Interface Converter and designates a flexible interface which changes electronic signals into optical signals. The converters used with the appliance are often also designated as Mini-GBIC or New GBIC. To use SFP GBIC ports, you will need the appropriate SFP GBIC modules. These modules are not delivered with the appliance. There are different module types. The required type result from the existing network. The following SFP GBIC module types may be used: N 1000 Base-T IEEE 802.3 - 1 Gbit/s via Ethernet cable. Using an Ethernet cable category 5 covers a maximum distance about 100 meters. N 1000 Base-SX IEEE 802.3 - 1 Gbit/s via fiber glass. When multi-mode fiber glass cables (MMF) are used a distance of 200 m to 550 m can be covered. N 1000 Base-LX IEEE 802.3 - 1 Gbit/s via fiber glass. Here, exclusively singlemode-fiber glass is used. The distance which can be covered with this transmission option amounts to approximately 10 km. Caution: The SFP GBIC Ports use lasers to transmit signals over fiber optic cable. The lasers are compliant with the requirements of a Class 1 Laser equipment and are inherently eye safe in normal operation. However, you should never look directly at a transmit port when it is powered on.

Installing a SFP GBIC module: Please read the operation manual to the SFP GBIC module. Carefully insert the SFP GBIC module into the port until it engages. The interface is immediately ready for use. Removing a SFP GBIC module:
1. Remove the fiber glass cable from the module which you wish to remove. 2. Remove the module carefully from the port. Depending on when you purchased your SFP GBIC module, it may have either of three different release mechanisms: a plastic tab on the bottom of the mini-GBIC, a wire bail, or a plastic collar around the mini-GBIC. Please read the operation manual to the SFP GBIC module.

10. Serial Console

You can connect a serial console to the COM port of the Astaro hardware appliances. You can use, for instance, the Hyperterminal terminal program which is included with most versions of Microsoft Windows, to log on to the appliance console. You will need a nullmodem cable to connect the console to your hardware appliance. The required connection settings are: Bits per second: 38400, Data bits: 8, Parity: N (none), Stop bits: 1. Access via the serial console is activated by default on ttyS1. The connections of the appliances and the respective functionality are listed in chapter "Technical Specifications".

11. Return Material Authorization

request of a return Material Authorization (rMA) If your Astaro hardware appliance is damaged you can return it at any time to your distribution partner or Astaro. Please note: N A complaint number (RMA) is required for returns N Astaro will not accept returns without RMA and send them back at the dispatchers expense Please request your RMA online under https://www.astaro.de/license/ rma. To request a RMA you will need the following data: N Software version N License of the hardware appliance (appliance type and serial number will automatically be completed by the system) N Contact information, destination address and if available contact name N Short description of the problem Once you will have sent the online form the Astaro support team will contact you to try to solve the problem remotely. The hardware appliance must be remotely accessible for this purpose. If it will still be necessary to return the appliance the Astaro support team will give you the required RMA. The complete return process is detailed hereinafter. Hardware replacement service levels N 72h bring in: The customer sends the defective device to Astaro at their own risk and expense. A replacement unit is sent out within 72 hours following receipt of the defective device. If a customer receives a broken appliance (DOA), they will be entitled to a 24 hour upfront servicevalid for the first 30 days. The 72h bring in service is valid throughout the period of 1 year. N 24h bring in: The customer sends the defective device to Astaro at their own risk and expense. A replacement unit is sent out within 24 hours following receipt of the defective device. If a customer

receives a broken appliance (DOA), they will be entitled to a 24 hour upfront servicevalid for the first 30 days from the purchase date. The 24h bring in service is valid throughout the purchased subscription period of 1, 3 or 5 years. N 24h upfront: A replacement unit will be sent out within 24h after notification and receipt of an RMA at Astaros expense. The 24h upfront service is valid, if you have a valid premium support contract. Please note: If Astaro does not receive the defective unit back within 14 days of the reported failure, the customer will be invoiced for the cost of the unit. Astaro also reserves the right to charge for any missing accompanying materials. A replacement unit will either be a new or reconditioned unit of equivalent or higher value. The customer is only eligible to receive replacement hardware, if the unit has a valid warranty or maintenance contract. Warranty and maintenance periods go into effect when the activation key is applied within the MyAstaro portal. Before shipping any defective unit to Astaro, the customer should first contact Astaro support in order to get a Return Material Authorization (RMA) number. consignment information N Please use the original box to return the damaged appliance and all accessories (the scope of supply can be found in your Quick Start Guide Hardware) N Visibly mark your complaint number RMA on the delivery slip N Send the package either to your distribution partner or directly to Astaro N Please retain the shippers tracking number. This allows you at any time to control whether your damaged appliance has already been delivered to Astaro

Bestimmungsgemer Gebrauch
Die Hardware Appliances dienen zum Schutz von Netzwerken und sind fr den Einsatz in Racksystemen vorgesehen. Die Betriebsstabilitt und -sicherheit auerhalb eines Racks kann nicht gewhrleistet werden. Eine Aunahme bildet das Hardware-Modell ASG 110/120. Es kann als Stand-Alone-Anwendung auerhalb eines Racks betrieben werden. Die Hardware Appliances knnen in gewerblicher und industrieller Umgebung sowie im Wohnumfeld eingesetzt werden. Es wurde eine Konformittserklrung nach FCC und CE erteilt. Das Hardware-Modell ASG 110/120 fllt unter die Gertekategorie Klasse B. Alle anderen Hardware-Modelle fallen unter die Gertekategorie Klasse A. Die Hardware Appliances sind entsprechend den aktuellen Installationshinweisen zu installieren. Ansonsten kann ein strungsfreier und sicherer Betrieb nicht gewhrleistet werden. sicherheitshinweise Der sichere Betrieb des Gertes ist grundstzlich gewhrleistet, wenn die Hinweise in dieser Betriebsanleitung und am Gert beachtet werden. N Greifen Sie niemals in das Innere des Gertes. Im Inneren des Gertes befinden sich Teile mit berhrungsgefhrlicher Spannung. Diese knnen bei Kontakt zum Tode fhren. N Defekte Gerte mssen eingeschickt werden. Das ffnen der Hardware Appliance sowie das Auswechseln von Hardware-Bauteilen ist verboten und fhrt zum Verlust der Garantieansprche im Schadensfall. In Kapitel Hardware-Austausch finden Sie die notwendigen Informationen zum Rcksendeprozess. N Das Gert darf nur an einer Netzsteckdose mit einwandfreiem Schutzleiter angeschlossen werden. Bei fehlerhaftem Schutzleiter werden die Sicherheits- und EMV-Anforderungen nicht eingehalten. Lassen Sie die Netzsteckdose von einem Elektrofachgeschft berprfen, bevor Sie die Hardware Appliance anschlieen. N Vor dem Einschalten des Gertes ist unbedingt sicher zu stellen, dass die Netzspannung Ihrer Hausinstallation mit der Stomversorgung des Gertes bereinstimmt. Die Anschlusswerte finden Sie: N Auf dem Gertetypenschild (Oberseite) N In Kapitel Technische Spezifikationen N Um das Gert vollstndig vom Netz zu trennen, ziehen Sie den Netzstecker aus der Netzsteckdose. Die Netzsteckdose muss sich frei zugnglich in der Nhe des Gertes befinden. Das Ausschalten mit dem Ein-/Ausschalter trennt das Gert nicht vollstndig vom Netz. N Das Stromkabel ist so zu verlegen, dass Personen nicht darber stolpern oder Gegenstnde es verletzen knnen. N An das Gert drfen nur Peripheriegerte angeschlossen werden, die die Anforderungen fr Sicherheitskleinspannung nach EN/IEC 60950-1 erfllen.

N Verwenden Sie ausschlielich die mitgelieferten bzw. von uns freigegebenen Ersatz- und Zubehrteile. Der Einsatz nicht zugelassener Ersatz- und Zubehrteile kann die Gertefunktion und Ihre Sicherheit erheblich beeintrchtigen. Die mitgelieferten Teile knnen dem Quick Start Guide Hardware entnommen werden. N Da das Gert Wrme erzeugt, ist fr eine ausreichende Luftzirkulation zum Abtransport der Wrme zu sorgen. N Vermeiden Sie andauernd hohe Luftfeuchtigkeit und Kondenswasserbildung. Schtzen Sie das Gert vor Feuchtigkeit und Chemikalien. N Ein sicherer Betrieb des Gertes ist nicht mehr mglich, wenn: N das Gehuse beschdigt ist N Wasser in das Gerteinnere gelangt ist N Gegenstnde durch die Lftungsffnungen in das Gerteinnere gelangt sind N Rauch aus dem Gerteinneren kommt N das Stromkabel beschdigt ist N es nicht mehr einwandfrei arbeitet N Schalten Sie, wenn ein beschriebener Fehler vorliegt, sofort Ihr Gert aus, ziehen Sie den Netzstecker aus der Netzsteckdose und kontaktieren Sie umgehend den fr Sie zustndigen Kundendienst. Die Hardware Appliances entsprechen allen Anforderungen, der CEKennzeichnung und FCC-Zulassung. ce-Kennzeichnung (europa) Die Hardware Appliances erfllen alle Anforderungen der Niederspannungs- und EMV-Richtlinie. Fcc Zulassung (usA) Die Hardware Appliance ASG 110/120 entspricht den FCC-Anforderungen fr Gerte der Klasse B. Alle anderen Hardware Appliances erfllen die FCC-Anforderungen fr Gerte der Klasse A. weitere Zulassungen VCCI (Japan) C-Tick (Australien) Wichtiger Hinweis: Damit Computer-Systeme CE- und FCC-konform betrieben werden knnen, drfen nur CE- und FCC-konforme Komponenten verwendet werden. CE- und FCC-Konformitt erfordert auerdem die Nutzung geeigneter Kabel und eine entsprechende Verkabelung.

lcd und Bedienelemente Alle Rack-Modelle verfgen ber eine LCD-Anzeige und eine Bedieneinheit mit vier Folientasten.
Die LCDs knnen auf zwei Zeilen jeweils 16 Zeichen darstellen. Auf der Anzeige werden in drei durchlaufenden Ansichten Informationen zur Hardware und bestimmte Systemzustnde angezeigt. Willkommensansicht: *** Astaro *** Security Gateway Nachdem das Sicherheitssystem hochgefahren ist, wird diese Meldung angezeigt.

Mit den Folientasten knnen drei Aktionen durchgefhrt werden:
N Factory Reset: Alle Einstellungen werden auf den Auslieferungszustand zurckgesetzt. Alle genderten Einstellungen und gespeicherten Daten bzgl. HTTP Proxy Cache, E-Mail-Abwicklung, Accounting und Reporting, Passwrter und alle auf das System geladene Up2Date-Pakete werden gelscht. Die Software-Version ndert sich nicht. Alle Firmware und Pattern Updates, die installiert wurden, bleiben erhalten.
N Reboot Machine: Das Sicherheitssystem wird neu gebootet. Die Aktion Reboot fhrt das System komplett herunter und startet es neu.
N Shut down: Das Sicherheitssystem wird heruntergefahren. Die Aktion Shut Down ermglicht es, das System komplett herunterzufahren und alle laufenden Prozesse sauber zu beenden. Die Tasten haben die folgenden Funktionen hinterlegt:
Das aktuelle Men wird verlassen. Mehrmaliges Klicken auf die Taste bewirkt, dass die nderungen verworfen werden und der Ausgangszustand angezeigt wird. Mit diesen Tasten wechseln Sie zwischen den verschiedenen Mens, bzw. Zeichen hin und her.
Durch einen Klick wird die eingestellte Aktion ausgefhrt.

Inbetriebnahme
lieferumfang Der Lieferumfang ist im Quick Start Guide Hardware aufgefhrt. Montageanleitung Das Modell ASG 110/120 kann als Stand-Alone-Appliance auf einer stabilen waagerechten Flche aufgestellt werden. Alle anderen Hardware Appliances sind fr den Einsatz in Racksystemen vorgesehen. Fr alle Rackmodelle bercksichtigen Sie bitte die folgenden Sicherheitshinweise: Wichtiger Hinweis: Das Gert ist fr den Einsatz in Racksystemen vorgesehen. Der einwandfreie Betrieb kann auerhalb eines Racks nicht gewhrleistet werden! Warnhinweise und Sicherheitsmanahmen: Die folgenden Hinweise sowie die Hinweise auf dem Gert sind fr den sicheren Betrieb des Gertes zu bercksichtigen! Bei Nichtbeachtung kann ein sicherer Betrieb nicht gewhrleistet werden.
Sicherheitsmanahmen am Rack: N Stellen Sie sicher, dass das Rack stabil und gerade steht. Gleichen Sie gegebenenfalls Hhenunterschiede mit den verstellbaren Standfen aus. N Allein stehende Racks sollten ber eingebaute Sttzen stabilisiert werden. N Mehrere Racks sollten miteinander verschraubt werden, um die Stabilitt zu erhhen. N Bevor Sie Komponenten aus dem Rack herausziehen, vergewissern Sie sich, dass das Rack stabil und sicher steht. N Ziehen Sie niemals mehrere Komponenten gleichzeitig aus dem Rack. Dies kann dazu fhren, dass das Rack instabil wird.

Allgemeine Sicherheitsmanahmen zum Server: N Beachten Sie die Vorsichtsmanahmen zur Elektrizitt und die allgemeinen Sicherheitshinweise, die mit den Einbaukomponenten anderer Hersteller mitgeliefert wurden. N Ordnen Sie fr alle Komponenten den Bereich im Rack zu, bevor Sie mit dem Einbau der Schienen beginnen. N Montieren Sie die Serverkomponenten abhngig von ihrem Gewicht von unten nach oben in das Rack. Nach oben hin werden die leichteren Komponenten eingebaut. N Achten Sie beim Ein-/Umbau der Server darauf, dass deren wrmeerzeugenden Komponenten wie Festplatten oder Netzteile abgekhlt sind, bevor Sie diese berhren. N Halten Sie die Tr am Rack und alle Abdeckungen am Server auerhalb der Wartungsphasen geschlossen, um eine effektive Khlung zu gewhrleisten.
Hinweise zum Rackeinbau: N Betriebstemperatur: In einem geschlossenen oder einem MultiUnit Rack kann die umgebende Betriebstemperatur hher sein, als die umgebende Raumtemperatur. Achten Sie daher darauf, welche Betriebstemperatur tatschlich erreicht wird, und, dass die maximal zulssige Betriebstemperatur keinesfalls berschritten wird. N Reduzierte Belftung: Die Hardware Appliance muss in ein Rack eingebaut werden, damit der sichere Betrieb nicht durch eine mangelhafte Belftung gefhrdet wird. N Mechanische Belastungen: Die Hardware Appliance muss in ein Rack eingebaut werden, damit der sichere Betrieb nicht durch ungleichmige mechanische Belastungen gefhrdet wird. N berlastung des Stromkreises: Beim Anschlieen des Gertes an den Stromkreis muss bercksichtigt werden, ob dies zu einer mglichen berlastung der berstromsicherung und der Stromversorgungsverkabelung fhren kann. Beachten Sie dabei die entsprechenden Angaben auf dem Typenschild des Gertes. N Sichere Erdung: Um jederzeit eine sichere Erdung zu gewhrleisten, muss das Rack direkt geerdet sein. B. bei Gebrauch einer Mehrfachsteckdose). rackmontage Die Hardware Appliance wird mit Montagewinkeln und den mitgelieferten Einbauschienen im Rack befestigt. Da es auf dem Markt unterschiedliche Racksysteme gibt, kann der Einbau von System zu System geringfgig variieren. Beachten Sie daher ebenfalls die bei Ihrem Rack mitgelieferten Installationshinweise. Die Modelle ASG 525 und ASG 625 werden aufgrund der Gre und des Gewichtes mit einem speziellen Schienensatz ausgeliefert. Der Einbausatz beinhaltet zwei Schienenstze. Jeder Schienensatz besteht aus einer Innenschiene und einer Auenschiene, die ineinandergeschoben sind. Die Innenschiene hat sechs runde Lcher und zwei Haken. Die Auenschiene hat lngliche Ovale. Bitte beachten Sie die folgenden Montagehinweise.
Wichtiger Hinweis: Verwenden Sie zum Befestigen der Montagewinkel die im Lieferumfang enthaltenen Schrauben. Falsche Schrauben knnen die Hardware Appliance beschdigen und kann zum Erlschen des Garantieanspruchs fhren.
1. Befestigen Sie die Montagewinkel an der Appliance: 1.1| Stellen Sie die Appliance auf einen festen ebenen Untergrund. 1.2| befestigen Sie die Montagewinkel mit den mitgelieferten Schrauben auf der rechten und linken Seite der Appliance. 1.3| Stellen Sie sicher, dass die Montagewinkel richtig mit der Appliance verbunden sind. Wichtiger Hinweis: Die Schienen fr die Modelle ASG 525 und ASG 625 eignen sich fr Racks mit einer Tiefe von 60 cm/23,6. Die Modelle ASG 220, 320 und 425 werden ohne Montageschienen ausgeliefert. Bitte beachten Sie hier die Montagehinweise zu Ihrem Racksystem.

2. Whlen Sie den Standort des Racks aus: Lassen Sie ausreichend Platz, um die Tr am Rack vollstndig ffnen zu knnen (ca. 60 cm). Lassen Sie ca. 80 cm Freiraum hinter dem Rack. Dies sichert Ihnen eine ausreichende Luftzirkulation und ausreichend Platz fr Wartungsarbeiten. Dieses Gert sollte nur in Rumen mit Zugangsbeschrnkung eingebaut werden.
3. Nur ASG 525 und ASG 625: Montieren Sie die Schienen im Rack:
3.1| Schieben Sie die Innen- und Auenschiene ineinander. 3.2| Haken Sie die Innenschiene an der Rckseite des Racks ein. 3.3| Ziehen Sie die Auenschiene von der Innenschiene. 3.4| Befestigen Sie die Auenschiene am vorderen Rackpfosten. Verwenden Sie hierzu die dreifach gelochte Unterlegscheibe und drei M5-Schrauben. 3.5| Verschrauben Sie die Innen- und Auenschiene mit M5-Schrauben. 3.6| Verschrauben Sie die Innenschiene und das Rack mit einer M5Schraube. 3.7| Wiederholen Sie diesen Vorgang satz. mit dem zweiten Schienen-

4. Schieben Sie die Appliance in das Rack.
5. Befestigen Sie die Appliance an den Montagewinkeln im Rack mit den passenden Schrauben. Die Schrauben zur Befestigung der Montagewinkel am Rack sind nicht im Lieferumfang der Appliance enthalten. 7.
RAID-Festplattensystem
Die Modelle Astaro Security Gateway 525 und 625 sind mit einem RAID-System mit zwei Festplatten ausgerstet. Bei einem RAID-System (Redundant Array of Independent Disks) werden mehrere physikalische Festplatten zu einem besonders leistungsfhigen logischen Laufwerk zusammengefasst. Durch den Einsatz dieses Festplattensystems wird eine Steigerung der Transferrate und eine Erhhung der Datensicherheit erreicht. Des Weiteren wird die Verfgbarkeit des Sicherheitssystems erhht, da eine defekte Festplatte whrend des Betriebs einfach und schnell ausgetauscht werden kann es ist nicht notwendig das Gert herunterzufahren. Das RAID-System kann ber die grafische Benutzeroberflche WebAdmin berwacht werden. Der aktuelle Status des RAID-Systems wird auf dem Dashboard im Bereich RAID Status angezeigt. Bei einem Festplattendefekt wird zustzlich eine Notification-E-Mail an den Administrator abgeschickt.
Wichtiger Hinweis: Falls Sie eine defekte Festplatte austauschen mssen, achten Sie darauf, dass Sie die defekte Festplatte aus dem RAID-System ziehen. Ansonsten fllt das gesamte Sicherheitssystem aus. Wechseln Sie eine defekte Festplatte umgehend aus. Ein sicherer Betrieb der Hardware Appliance ist nur gewhrleistet, wenn beide Festplatten in Betrieb sind. Verwenden Sie nur Festplatten, die Sie direkt von Astaro oder einem Astaro-Hndler erworben haben. Die Verwendung anderer Festplatten fhrt zum Erlschen des Garantieanspruchs.

Festplatte austauschen:
1. Identifizieren Sie die defekte Festplatte. Bei einem Hardware-Defekt wird im WebAdmin auf dem Dashboard die defekte Festplatte angezeigt. Falls die rechte Festplatte defekt ist, lautet die Meldung z. B. HDD1 (right hard disk). 2. ffnen Sie mit dem Schlssel aus dem Lieferumfang das Schloss der Festplatte. 3. Entriegeln Sie die Festplatte, indem Sie den Riegel (mit Schloss) nach links schieben und den herausspringenden Hebel in Ihre Richtung aufklappen. 4. Ziehen Sie die Festplatte aus dem Gehuse. 5. Stecken Sie nun die neue Festplatte in das Gehuse. 6. Verriegeln Sie die Festplatte, indem Sie den Hebel in Richtung des Gehuses drcken. Verschlieen Sie das Schloss.
Wichtiger Hinweis: Die Hardware Appliance sollte nur fr kurze Zeit (whrend der Dauer des Festplattenaustauschs) mit einem leeren Festplattenfach betrieben werden. Sobald das Sicherheitssystem die neue Festplatte erkannt hat, wird die bestehende Festplatte auf die neue Festplatte gespiegelt. Der Vorgang kann 30 Minuten oder lnger dauern. Der aktuelle Stand des Speichervorgangs wird in der grafischen Benutzeroberflche Webadmin auf dem Dashboard im Bereich RAID Status angezeigt. Vor Beginn und nach Beendigung des Speichervorgangs wird eine NotificationE-Mail an den Administrator abgeschickt.

Redundante Stromversorgung
Die Modelle Astaro Security Gateway 525 und 625 sind mit einer redundanten Stromversorgung ausgerstet. Das Stromversorgungssystem besteht aus zwei separaten Netzteilen. Durch dieses Stromversorgungssystem wird die Verfgbarkeit des Sicherheitssystems erhht, da ein defektes Netzteil whrend des Betriebs einfach und schnell ausgetauscht werden kann. Beim fehlerfreien Betrieb ist die LED Power fail auf der Vorderseite aus und die LED-Anzeige fr Stromversorgung auf der Rckseite der Hardware Appliance grn. Bei einem Hardware-Defekt eines Netzteils leuchten diese beiden LED-Anzeigen rot und werden von einem durchgehenden Piepston begleitet. Der Warnton kann durch Drcken des roten Alarm-Reset-Knopfs ausgeschaltet werden. Der Alarm-ResetKnopf befindet sich auf der Rckseite des Gehuses rechts neben dem Netzteil.
Wichtiger Hinweis: Falls Sie ein Netzteil aufgrund eines Defekts austauschen mssen, achten Sie darauf, dass Sie das defekte Netzteil aus dem Gert ziehen, da sonst das gesamte Sicherheitssystem ausfllt. Beachten Sie, dass auf Dauer ein sicherer Betrieb der Hardware Appliance nur gewhrleistet ist, wenn beide Netzteile in Betrieb sind. Wechseln Sie ein defektes Netzteile umgehend aus. Schtzen Sie sich beim Wechsel eines Netzteils durch Handschuhe vor Verbrennungen. Verwenden Sie nur Netzteile, die Sie direkt von Astaro oder einem Astaro-Hndler erworben haben. Beachten Sie, dass jeglicher Garantieanspruch fr die Hardware Appliance erlischt, wenn ein Defekt durch den Gebrauch eines fr das System nicht geeigneten Netzteils entsteht.

Netzteil austauschen:
1. Identifizieren Sie das defekte Netzteil. Beachten Sie hierbei die LEDs der beiden Netzteile: > LED leuchtet grn: Das Netzteil ist in Betrieb. > LED leuchtet nicht: Das Netzteil ist defekt. 2. Schrauben Sie die Verriegelung auf der rechten Seite des Netzteils auf. 3. Ziehen Sie das Netzteil an dem dafr vorgesehenen Bgel aus dem Gehuse.
4. Stecken Sie das neue Netzteil in das Gehuse. 5. Verriegeln Sie das neue Netzteil. 6. Stecken Sie das Stromkabel in den Stecker des neuen Netzteils und berprfen Sie die relevanten LEDs: > LED des ausgetauschten Netzteils leuchtet grn. > LED zur Anzeige der Stromversorgung leuchtet grn. Sobald das neue Netzteil erkannt wird und in Funktion ist, erlischt der Piepston.

SFP GBIC Port

Die Ausstattung mit SFP GBIC Ports ist modellabhngig. Ob Ihr Gert mit SFP GBIC Ports ausgestattet ist, knnen Sie Kapitel Technische Spezifikationen entnehmen. Die Abkrzung SFP GBIC steht fr Small Form-factore Plugable GigaBit Interface Converter und ist eine flexible Schnittstelle mit der die elektronischen Signale in optische Signale umgewandelt werden. Die bei der Appliance eingesetzten Konverter werden oft auch als MiniGBIC oder New GBIC bezeichnet. Fr die Nutzung der GBIC Ports bentigen Sie die dazu passenden SFP-GBIC-Module. Diese Module sind nicht im Lieferumfang der Appliance enthalten. Von den Modulen gibt es unterschiedliche Typen und welcher letztendlich bentigt wird, hngt vom bestehenden Netzwerk ab. Folgende SFP-GBIC-Modul-Typen knnen verwendet werden: N 1000 Base-T IEEE 802.3 - 1 Gbit/s ber Ethernet-Kabel. Mit einem EthernetKabel der Kategorie 5 kann eine Distanz bis 100 m berwunden werden. N 1000 Base-SX IEEE 802.3 - 1 Gbit/s ber Glasfaser. Beim Einsatz von MultiMode-Glasfaserkabeln (MMF) kann eine Entfernung von 200 m bis 550 m berwunden werden. N 1000 Base-LX IEEE 802.3 - 1 Gbit/s ber Glasfaser. Zum Einsatz kommen hierbei ausschlielich die Singlemode- oder Monomode-Glasfaser. Die mit dieser bertragungsvariante berwindbare Entfernung betrgt bis zu 10 km. Achtung: Mini-GBICs sind Lasereinrichtungen der Klasse 1. Das verwendete Licht hat eine Wellenlnge von 850 nm und liegt somit im Infrarot-Bereich. Fr die meisten Menschen ist dieses Licht gerade noch als rotes Licht wahrnehmbar, ein direkter Blick in die Lichtquelle ist schdlich.

SFP GBIC Modul installieren: Bitte lesen Sie die Gebrauchsanweisung zum SFP-GBIC-Modul. Schieben Sie das SFP-GBIC-Modul vorsichtig in den Port bis es einrastet. Die Schnittstelle ist sofort einsatzbereit. SFP-GBIC-Modul entfernen:
1. Ziehen Sie zuerst die Glasfaserkabel vom Modul, dass Sie entfernen mchten ab. 2. Ziehen Sie vorsichtig das Modul aus dem Port. Abhngig vom verwendeten SFP-GBIC-Modul existieren verschiedene Lsemechanismen. Beachten Sie die Hinweise in der Betriebsanleitung des SFP-GBIC-Moduls.

10. Serielle Konsole

An die Astaro Hardware Appliances kann ber die serielle Schnittstelle COM Port eine Konsole angeschlossen werden. Fr den Zugriff auf die Security Appliance knnen Sie z. B. das Programm Hyperterminal verwenden. Es ist in den meisten Microsoft-Windows-Versionen standardmig verfgbar. Zum Anschlieen der Konsole bentigen Sie ein Nullmodem-Kabel. Die ntigen Verbindungseinstellungen sind: Bits per second: 38400, Data bits: 8, Parity: N (none), Stop bits: 1. Der Zugriff ber die Serielle Konsole erfolgt standardmig ber ttyS1. Die Anschlsse der Hardware Appliance sowie deren Funktionsweise werden in Kapitel Technische Spezifikationen beschrieben.

11. Hardware-Austausch (RMA)

Beantragung einer reklamationsnummer (rMA) Sollte Ihre Astaro Hardware Appliance defekt sein, knnen Sie die Hardware Appliance jederzeit an den zustndigen Vertriebspartner oder direkt an Astaro zurcksenden. Folgende Punkte sind hierbei zu beachten: N Fr alle Rcksendungen ist eine Reklamationsnummer (RMA) zu beantragen. N Rcksendungen ohne RMA werden von Astaro abgelehnt und kostenpflichtig an den Absender zurckgeschickt. Die RMA beantragen Sie online unter https://www.astaro.de/license/ rma. Zur Beantragung der RMA bentigen Sie folgende Daten: N Software-Version N Lizenz der Hardware Appliance (Appliance-Typ und Seriennummer werden automatisch vom System ergnzt) N Kontaktinformationen, Empfngeradresse und falls vorhanden Kontaktname N Kurzbeschreibung des Problems Nach Absendung des Online-Formulars wird das Astaro Support Team Sie kontaktieren, um zu prfen, ob das Problem remote behoben werden kann. Die Hardware Appliance muss hierfr remote erreichbar sein. Sollte eine Einsendung des Gertes notwendig sein, teilt Ihnen das Astaro Support Team die notwendige RMA mit. Den genauen Ablauf des Austauschprozesses entnehmen Sie bitte der folgenden Beschreibung.

der Hardware-Austausch-service N 72h Bring In: Der Kunde sendet das defekte Gert auf eigene Gefahr und Kosten zu Astaro. Innerhalb von 72 Stunden nach Eingang des defekten Gertes wird das Austauschgert abgeschickt. Falls der Kunde die Hardware Appliance bereits defekt erhalten hat (DOA), bekommt er innerhalb der ersten 30 Tage einen 24h-Upfront-Service. Der 72h-Bring-In-Service gilt fr eine Laufzeit von einem Jahr. N 24h Bring In: Der Kunde sendet das defekte Gert auf eigene Gefahr und Kosten an Astaro. Innerhalb von 24 Stunden nach Eingang des defekten Gertes wird das Austauschgert abgeschickt. Falls der Kunde die Hardware Appliance bereits defekt erhalten hat (DOA), bekommt er innerhalb der ersten 30 Tage einen 24h-Upfront-Service. Der 24h-Bring-In-Service gilt whrend der jeweils vereinbarten Subscription-Periode von einem, drei oder fnf Jahren. N 24h Upfront: Der Kunde schickt das defekte Gert auf eigene Gefahr ein. Ein Ersatzgert wird innerhalb von 24 Stunden nach Schadensmeldung und Erhalt einer RMA-Nummer auf Kosten von Astaro an den Kunden verschickt. Der 24h-Upfront-Service gilt whrend der jeweils vereinbarten Laufzeit des Premium-SupportUpgrade-Vertrages von einem, drei oder fnf Jahren. Beachten Sie: Sollte das defekte Gert nicht innerhalb von 14 Tagen bei Astaro eintreffen, wird Astaro dem Kunden das Austauschgert entsprechend der jeweils bei Versand des Ersatzgertes aktuellen Preisliste in Rechnung stellen. Astaro behlt sich ebenso vor, fehlende Zubehrteile in Rechnung zu stellen. Ein Ersatzgert kann ein neues oder erneuertes Gert gleicher oder besserer Gte sein. Anspruch auf ein Ersatzgert besteht nur whrend der Laufzeit des Supportvertrages. Supportvertrge beginnen jeweils mit der Aktivierung des Zugangsschlssels (Activation Key) durch den Kunden im MyAstaro-Portal. Bevor der Kunde ein defektes Gert an Astaro verschickt, muss er den Astaro Support kontaktieren, um eine Return Material Authorization (RMA) Nummer zu erhalten. Etwaige Gewhrleistungsansprche des Kunden gegen seinen Astaro Partner bleiben von vorstehenden Regelungen unberhrt.
