Information Architecture and Page Mockups (3 points and 2 points, respectively) WHAT For this assignment, you will

plan the information architecture of your online portfolio and sketch ideas for pages. WHY This assignment s purpose is to help you practice: y Creating an information architecture y Presenting an information architecture using accepted industry conventions y Creating ideas for pages HOW For the Information Architecture part of this assignment, you will: 1. Create three alternative ways of organizing the information on your online portfolio. For example, you can use an audience-based logic, a task-based logic, and a semantic or life event logic. Present these three ways of organizing information on your site as simple text outlines. 2. Choose one organization logic that makes the most sense for your users. Write a brief explanation of why you chose that particular organization logic. You may choose to present more than one organization logic on your online portfolio. Either way, explain the reasons for your decision. Your reasons should be based on what you know about your users. So, look back at your stakeholder groups, persona, scenario, and use cases, and ground your decisions in that information. Write a brief, but clear and convincing explanation. 3. Present the information architecture of your choice by providing a site map and a file architecture. Create the site map using accepted industry conventions. Please see BGW pp134-135 and 139. Follow the conventions presented on p. 139 closely. Create a file architecture by indicating the names and organization of your online portfolio s files and folders. You can use a table or outline to present the file architecture. As you name your files and folders, keep URL design in mind. For the Page Mockups part of this assignment, you will create 3 ideas for what your online portfolio may look like. Sketch roughly the home page and a typical level-2 page. Make sure your page mockups reflect the organization logic(s) you chose in step 2 above. HOW TO TURN THIS ASSIGNMENT IN: Option 1 (preferred): Scan all the mockups, and upload everything on Blackboard as ONE file (pdf, for example) by class time on February 28. Option 2: Print everything out, staple it together, and turn it in in class on February 28. Either upload everything on Bb or print it all out, do not combine methods. 1
