2.1 Overview of Live Office

SAP BusinessObjects Live Office (Live Office) is an add-on for Microsoft Office applications that gives you access to up-to-date information stored in the SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence platform. With Live Office, you can insert content from Web Intelligence, Crystal Reports, and Universe Queries in your Microsoft Office documents (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, or Outlook). When you insert an object, a reference to the BI platform location is also inserted. When you open the document later using the Microsoft Office application, you can refresh the objects and see the current data in your document. For more information about Live Office features, see the Live Office User's Guide.

2.3 Installation types

There are two types of installation methods to run the installation program for Live Office: Interactive installation This type of installation involves running a program from the installation media. An interactive wizard prompts for all information related to the installation. Use this option to select individual installation options from a series of screens. This is the default installation method. Silent installation This type of installation is performed for large-scale deployment. You can choose to perform one of the following silent installations: Scripted silent installation involves writing parameters to a response.ini file, and then using the file to run the installation program. Installation options can be given in a response file rather than directly on the command-line. This type of silent installation uses the -r command-line parameter to read installation options from the response file. Use this option if you want to install multiple machines with the same configuration. Installation options stored in a response file can be overridden by giving them on the command-line. Command-line silent installation involves passing parameters to the installation program directly. Installation options are given on the command-line, which override the installation program's default values. The command-line can be used to give some or all installation options. When an installation option is not given on the command-line, the installation program uses a default value.

With the professional edition of BI platform, however, you must purchase a license for Live Office to activate the server component. For information about activating the server component, see To activate the server component. The client components are automatically available to install with both the professional and premium editions of SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence platform. They must be installed on each machine that will be using the Live Office functionality.

4.1.1 To activate the server component

Note: For the premium edition of SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence platform, the Web Services component is installed automatically and activation is not required. To activate the Web Services component for the professional edition of BI platform, complete the following steps: 1. Locate your Live Office license key. 2. Click Start > Programs > SAP BusinessObjects BI platform 4.0 > SAP BusinessObjects BI platform > SAP BusinessObjects BI platform Central Management Console. 3. In the Central Management Console, under "CMC Home", click License Keys. 4. In the" License Key" dialog box, in the Add Key box, type your Live Office license key and click Add. The Web Services component is activated and all Live Office features and options are functional.

4.1.2 Using the Installation Wizard

The Live Office Installation Wizard works with the Microsoft Windows Installer to guide you through the installation process. The wizard automatically recognizes your computer's operating system and checks for software platform requirements. It updates files as required. For a current list of the supported platforms and information about platforms and configurations for this release of Live Office, see the SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence platform Supported Platforms document available at https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/boc/articles. Note: If the wizard detects that the same version of Live Office is already installed on your system, it starts in Maintenance mode so you can repair or remove the existing version.

4.1.2.1 To install the Live Office client

1. Navigate to the Live Office installation package and run setup.exe. Note: For a network-based application, locate the file on your network, and run it. 2. Choose your preferred language for the installation setup and click OK. The Installation Wizard verifies that all installation prerequisites have been satisfied for your system and displays the status of each item. If not, the Live Office installation is stopped. 3. If necessary, correct any prerequisite issues and restart the Live Office installation process. To continue, click Next. The Live Office Setup page opens. 4. Click Next. The "License Agreement" page opens. 5. Review the Live Office License Agreement. When you are ready, click I accept the Licence Agreement and click Next. 4.1.3 Running a silent installation

For a silent installation, system administrators can run a script from the command line to automatically install Live Office components on any machine in their system without the installation program prompting them for information. The silent installation is not available from the Live Office Setup program and is intended only for experienced system administrators. A silent installation is particularly useful when system administrators need to perform multiple installations and do not want to interrupt people who are working on machines in their system. System administrators

13

2011-07-13

Installation

can also use the silent installation command in their own installation scripts. For example, if an organization uses scripts to install software on machines, system administrators can add the silent installation command to their scripts. A silent installation can be run using two methods: command line and response file.

4.1.3.1 To use the command line method

A command line silent installation of Live Office consists of the command setup.exe followed by several parameters that provide information about the installation. The example below installs the desired language version of Live Office to the SAP BusinessObjects directory without prompting users for information or settings:
setup.exe -q installdir="C:\Program Files\SAP BusinessObjects\" installtype="default" setupuilanguage="en" selectedlanguagepacks="en;fr;tr"

Note: A syntax error might occur due to the restriction of windows command prompt if you do not use quotes during the command line installation method. Note: When you perform a silent installation, you accept the end-user license agreement by default. You can find a copy of the license agreement in the Collateral>Docs folder of your product CD. Note: Parameters not listed in this table may be available but have not been tested. Untested parameters are not supported. Installation settings Description Specifies the language for the installation. For a list of language codes, see Supported languages codes.

Installation settings

Description Specifies the name of the SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence platform server.

NAMESERVER=<server name>

Note: If you do not include this parameter, the installation uses the name of the installation machine. Enables the Single Sign On feature so the logon credentials can be used to access all databases. This feature is not enabled by default. Performs the installation silently, without prompting the user. This parameter changes the installation UI mode.

SINGLESIGNON

-q "filepath"

When you run setup.exe -q installdir="c:\live office\"; a silent installation is performed. The installation directory will be set to "c:\live office\", all parameters that are not mentioned from the command line will be left with default settings. Reads the INI response file at the path specified by filepath, and installs Live Office based on the settings in the file.

-r "filepath"

Note: In the INI response file, there is a section "others". Set the key to /qb to perform an installation with a progress meter. Set the key to /qa to perform a complete silent installation. Writes an INI response file to the path specified by filepath.

-w "filepath"

Note: You can follow all the steps of the installation up to the final dialog box in the sequence, then cancel the installation. This creates the INI response file without installing Live Office.

4.1.3.2 To use the response file method

A response file silent installation of Live Office consists of the command setup.exe followed by the parameter -r and the location of the response file where the installation information is provided. The example below runs the silent installation with the response file located in the c:\sap businessobjects enterprise directory:
Setup.exe -r c:\sap businessobjects enterprise\response.ini

Use the following command to run the response file on a shared server:
setup.exe -r "\\sharedserver\response.ini"

4.1.3.2.1 To create a response file for a scripted silent installation

Before you run a scripted silent installation, you can use the SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence platform Live Office media to create a response.ini file. Note: Live Office is shipped with a sample response.ini file where the Live Office installation file is located. You can modify values based on the sample response file, or create a customized response file by using the "-w" parameter. 1. Run setup.exe -w C:\response.ini from the Live Office media. The Live Office installation wizard appears. 2. Proceed through the wizard, selecting your installation options. Follow the instructions in the To install Live Office media section. 3. On the "Start installation" page, click Next, and then click OK. The installation program writes your installation options to the response.ini file, and closes. You can now open response.ini in a text editor to review your installation options. Example: In this example, the selected installation options includes English and Turkish language packs, English installation language, Live Office, and Available features.
### Installation directory installdir=C:\<INSTALLDIR> ### property.InstallType.description# installtype=custom ### Language Packs Selected to Install selectedlanguagepacks=en;tr ### Setup UI language setupuilanguage=en ### Available features ### ------------------

Note: If you want to add a note or comment to the response.ini file, you can add ### to the beginning of a line. Lines that begin with ### are not processed by setup.exe.

4.1.3.2.2 To run a response file installation

1. ClickStart > Run and type cmd to open the "Command Prompt" window. 2. In the "Command Prompt" window, navigate to the installation folder. 3. Enter the following command: setup.exe -r <response file path>\response.ini, where <response file path> is the path to the response file.

4.1.3.3 Supported languages codes

The following tables lists the supported language codes used in Live Office:

4.2 Configuring Live Office

If the SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence platform server uses reverse proxies, you must configure Live Office to access the reverse proxy URL to view documents in a web browser. For information about enabling reverse proxies and Single Sign On (SSO) for SAP BusinessObjects Live Office, see the Enabling reverse proxies for Java applications servers topic in the SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence Platform Deployment and Configuration Guide.

4.3 Enabling Live Office client components

When a user installs Live Office, the Live Office menu and toolbar are enabled for their use. However, if another user logs onto the system, Live Office is not enabled for them and the Live Office menu and toolbar are not available. To enable Live Office for other users, each user must run the enable_addin.exe utility.

4.3.1 To enable the latest Live Office client components

1. Locate enable_addin.exe in the Live Office program folder.

19

2011-07-13

Installation

Tip: By default, the Live Office program folder is located in C:\Program Files\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\Live Office\. 2. To run the utility, double-click enable_addin.exe. 3. In the Live Office Configuration dialog box, select which Microsoft Office applications you want to enable the Live Office Add-In for and click OK. Live Office is enabled. When the user opens a Microsoft Office application, the Live Office menu and toolbar are available. Note: For information about using Live Office, see the SAP BusinessObjects Live Office User's Guide.

4.4 Running side-by-side Live Office installation

If you purchased an upgrade product activation keycode, when you install the upgrade, the installation program does not remove your previous version of Live Office. In general, upgrading Live Office components provides you with a side-by-side installation: a scenario in which you can have both your old and new versions of Live Office installed on the same machine. However, only one installation can be enabled at any time.

4.4.1 To switch between Live Office versions on your machine

You can use the enable_addin.exe utility to switch between different installed Live Office versions. Note: For optimal performance, enable only one version of Live Office at a time. The enable_addin.exe utility is applicable for both the Microsoft Office 2003 and Microsoft Office 2007 applications.

1. Locate enable_addin.exe in the Live Office program folder. Tip: By default, the Live Office XI 4.0 program folder is located in C:\Program Files\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\Live Office\. The default program location of Live Office XI R3 is C:\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0\Live Office 12.0. 2. Run enable_addin.exe. 3. Click OK.
