Chandannagar is a former French colony near Kolkata.

"City of Liberty has always attracted people from all over the world due to her indescribable beauty. Chandannagar has managed to maintain a distinct place not only in the map of India but also that of the world. This small town over a period of 300 years has maintained a unique blend of culture and heritage which is unparallel in history. Chandannagar is well connected to Calcutta by railways, roadways and the Ganges river, and it takes about an hour to reach from Kolkata.

Chandannagar Strand is a beautiful tourist spot along the banks of the Ganges River. Chandannagar Strand has a beautifully decorated footpath studded with lights. It is 1 kilometer in length and 7 meters in width. Many buildings of historical importance surround the spot. Chandannagar Strand is very popular among the locals. The Chandannagar Museum and Institute is one of the oldest and finest museums of its genre in the eastern region. The Chandannagar Museum and Institute has an excellent collection of French memorabilia unmatched anywhere in the world. Chandannagar Church reflects the prowess of the French architects during the colonial period. French language classes are taught here. Patal Bari is the Underground House constructed during colonial times. The unique feature of this house is that the lowest floor is submerged in the Ganges River. The great social reformer Iswar Chandra Vidyasagar and Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore had spent time in this house. There are many temples in Chandannagar which dates back to the 16th century and among them Nandadulal Temple exhibit brilliant craftsmanship and artistic taste, were built in 1740 by Indranarayan Roychoudhury, and present an excellent example of ancient Indian sculptures. There are many fascinating temples devoted to Kali, Shiva and other deities which show brilliant craftsmanship and artistic taste. Nritya Gopal Smriti Mandir, built by Sri Harihar Sett, still serves as a theatre hall and a library. It was the first of its kind in the entire locality. The place hosts a galaxy of famous personalities who had a strong impact not only on contemporary society but also affected Indian history. The paternal house of revolutionary leader Sri Rash Behari Bose stands at Fatokgorah. Kanailal Datta and the great social reformer Sri Harihar Sett were also natives of Chandannagar. Upendra Nath Bandopadhyay, the founder of Dainik Basumoti, a daily Bengali news-paper and Mr. Jatindranath Bandopadhyay were among the other renowned personalities of this historic town. Rishi Aurobindo Ghosh stayed at the Prabartak Sangha Ashram in Chandannagar when he was fighting for India's independence.

WEATHER INFORMATION
The weather during the winter in December to February is very pleasant in West Bengal. The early mornings are foggy with temperature generally varying in between 12C to14C and does not come below 10C. The conference is scheduled during this period and that would be the best time to plan for this city as the humidity is low and the weather is pleasurable.

ABROAD The present International Conference like the earlier two national conferences held in 2010 and 2011, is proposed to address a couple of burning issues of engineering education in the new millennium. ABOUT THE INSTITUTION


Sir J. C. Bose School of Engineering and Dr. P. C. Mahalanabish School of Management were established in 2009. They are very close to Chandannagar. The College is about half an hour drive from the Kolkata Airport and about 35 km from the heart of the city of Kolkata. Mankundu is a suburb of greater Kolkata. Mankundu is situated at latitude 22o50'N & longitude 88o22'E. Faculty members possess Masters and Ph.D. degrees. The library has all the relevant books with multiple copies as per AICTE and Universitys (WBUT) norm and 74 (seventy four) on-line IEEE and other journals, including Scientific American, CSIRs journal, etc. A computerized access system has been installed. The library has a spacious reading room. Research papers and e-books can be accessed through the netsurfing facility.

Authors are invited to submit papers of 1 - 4 pages in English in their relevant subjects. The paper should explain clearly the content and relevance of the technical contribution. INR 2500 INR 1250 INR 800 INR 600 FREE Chandannagar was established as a French colony in 1673, when the French obtained permission from Ibrahim Khan, the Nawab of Bengal, to establish a trading post on the right banks of the Hooghly River. Bengal was then a province of the Mughal Empire. It became a permanent French settlement in 1688, and in 1730 Joseph Franois Dupleix was appointed governor of the city. For a time, Chandannagar was the main centre for European commerce in Bengal. Chandannagar is a small city located 30 kilometers north of Kolkata. The city has been able to keep herself separated from all other cities and preserve her own characteristics.

SPECIAL SESSION ON STUDENTS PAPER CONTEST


Undergraduate engineering students are invited to submit papers on general science and engineering studies. The purpose of this session is to promote creativity among the students. Accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings.
