A Message from AmericEd

Established and administered by AmericEd, our International Educator Certification (IEC) is a voluntary teacher certification program designed to develop and improve teacher effectiveness. The process is simple yet comprehensive and can be completed in a very reasonable amount of time. We hope you take this step and help us achieve the goal of putting the best teachers in our childrens classrooms.

AmericEds International Educator Certification (IEC) means:

Q: What is International Educator Certification? A: International Educator Certification is an advanced teaching credential. Certification is
achieved upon successful completion of three steps: 1. Attending AmericEds IEC course. 2. Completing a certain number of hours of approved classroom instruction*. 3. Passing the IEC exam.

Q: How does AmericEd support teachers after certification? A: Certified teachers are invited to workshops offered by AmericEd throughout the year. Also,
all certified teachers automatically become members of AmericEds online community, a community that connects educators who want to share classroom experiences and discuss better methods of teaching. Furthermore, certified teachers will be given the opportunity to teach parts of the IEC course. Finally, certified teachers may opt to be contacted by schools seeking IEC certified teachers.

Q: Why certify? A: Our children deserve to have the best teachers in their classrooms. Because teachers not only
teach subjects but also influence character, we believe that all teachers should be held to very high standards. The International Educator Certification (IEC) is based on five core foundations.

Five Core Foundations

Teachers teach and treat all children as if they are their own. Teachers demonstrate mastery of methods of teaching and of the subjects they teach. Teachers are held responsible for their students learning and well-being. Teachers constantly work on improving their instruction and on gaining knowledge. Teachers cooperate with parents and administrators for the success of their students.

*special consideration is given to candidates with no teaching experience. Please contact us for more information.
