Color Ring Back Tones (CRBT) System Architecture

Posted by admin on December 20th, 2011 Ring back tones or color ring back tones(crbt) is a value added service in which if the called party has crbt then the calling party will hear song when the called party number is dialed. This article first explains the CRBT call flow in a mobile network , then a block diagram explaining the CRBT system connection to other parts in IN(Intelligent Nework). Finally the CRBT system hardware and software itself is explained. Suppose subscriber A makes a call to subscriber B and the subscriber B has CRBT enabled. Also suppose that subscriber A and B are in different geographical location so that subscriber A calls are handled by MSC A and subscriber B is handled by MSC B. Explanation: 1. Subscriber A connect to MSC A 2. MSC A send IAM(Initial Address Message) to MSC B 3. MSC B check information about Subscriber B in HLR B 4. HLR response to MSC B that sub B is active and use CRBT Service 5. MSC B send ACM(Address Complete Message) to MSC A to acknowledge that IAM has been received 6. MSC B send IAM to CRBT system 7. CRBT System check information in CRBT system and send ACM to MSC B 8.After that, CRBT System send ANM(Answer Message) indicating that the called party has answered to MSC B. This step indicates that voice path exists/is established 9.From this time, CRBT System will play song and subscriber A can listen song 10.In this time, MSC B is paging Subscriber B 11.If Subscriber accept this call, Subscriber A and B will conversation, MSC B send REL(Release) to CRBT System 12.After that, CRBT send RLC(Release Complete) (Acknowledgement of Release) to MSC B for finish connection with CRBT System CRBT Architecture

Explanation: 1.MSC send IAM to SS7/Voice-IP Interface(SII). 2.SII convert IAM to base in IP and send to data process system (DPS). 3.This DPS will sent request check information of Subs in database. 4.Database will response the song of subs to DPS. 5.DPS will send to SII the song of subs. 6.SII will load song from files server and play song to calling subs. 7.When MSC send REL to SII, SII will clear channel.
