Op-Ed I believe this cartoon presents the Great Depression very we" because the economic downfa" led to mi"ions of people losing their jobs, and the unemployment rates shot up. United we stand is what the cartoon says. To show that many people suered, the cartoonist drew a long LOOKING FOR A JOB? line of people, who have a" lost their jobs, being united in the fact that theyre a" unemployed. Call 561-216-5923 I dont know if the depression could have been any worse, because no one could help the unemployment rate %om going down; everyone was helpless during the depression. Adolf Hitler, a political leader in Germany, seems to be regaining his popularity. During the horrid Great War, Hitler volunteered for the German army and was rewarded for his bravery with the Iron Cross. Near the end of the war, he joined a small political group, which later named themselves the National Socialist German Workers Party, or Nazi. He was soon voted the leader of the Nazi party. Inspired, Hitler and the Nazis tried to take over the Munich, but he was arrested when he failed. For a while after he was released from prison in 1924, most Germans disregarded him as their leader. However, as the Great Depression struck Germany and their economy started falling, the Germans, scared and startled, looked back to Hitler for leadership. Not too long ago, President Paul von Hindenburg entitled Hitler as chancellor. Now, it seems Hitler is on the move to take over Europe, as he promised his country; his elite protection squad has already killed hundreds of Hitlers enemies. He has been using the press, radio, literature, painting, and `ilm as propaganda tools. Believing that the Germans, or as he calls them Aryans, are the greatest race. Hitler also mentions that continuous struggle brings victory to the strong. Now in 1933, it seems the Nazis are devising a scheme against the Jews.
