Abstract: This Research Paper will supply you the readers with information about the following topics. The first Data you will see will be How Television can affect a students Math Proficiency Test Scores. The next data will show how it affects Males and Females, and the difference in the two categories of students. The last one that you will view is the amount of students that are affected by Free School Lunch. Throughout this Research you will be able to see the different readings and be able to compare them to the hypothesis.

Hypothesis: The amount of hours spent that an individual spends on watching T.V. has an effect on their Mathematics Proficiency Test Scores. If an individual is looking to get a high test score, they need to spend more time studying than watching television. T.V. can be not only influential but very distracting to ones life, and can distract them from the things that should mainly be focusing their attention on. If an individual wants their test scores to increase, they need to make sure that they put their priorities first, and spend more time on studying than watching television. The sex of a student can also bring about changes in an individuals mathematics test score. Hypothetically speaking, if a female was to study and a male was to study for the same test score, the female would probably make a higher test score. If a female that watched 4+ hours of television a day was to be compared to another female who watches 0-1 hours, the female who watches television less, will be able to accomplish more studying in their day. If a male was looking to make their test scores higher than a females, they would have to put in more studying than a female would. Rationale: I agree with the reasoning that if you a great amount of television, than your test scores will be greatly affected. If you are spending more time on watching television than studying and putting in more effort to do extra-curricular activities, you will not be able to apply all of your focus on what is important which is studying. A student who is organized, and good at TimeManagement, will be better at managing their time and will be able to set time aside after studying for relaxation time which can be the period where they watch television. If an

individual used that method, they will be able to see a difference in their scores and will not have to worry about stressing and cramming as much. Males feel like they are smarter than females, but in reality, women are more focused majority of the time, and can keep their concentration on important information more often than males. A male will become distracted more than a female would. Majority males, are very interested in video games and television than females, so more than likely they would spend their time on that and put their studying to the side until they were finished with what they were doing. Females studying habits are more organized than males. They are more organized with what they need to do and how much time they need for everything in order to do well on their test.

Discussion: From looking at the data, it proves the hypothesis to be correct. You can see that students watching more T.V throughout the week than student, who watches little to none, are greatly affected and have lower test scores. T.V has not helped students in a positive way from the looks of the data that we received. It shows that Even though students that watched no televisions test scores were higher than the ones that did, their scores were still below level 1, which shows that there is probably another problem that is affecting the students. Even though, the females percentage of them receiving higher test scores than male was not that much of a difference, it still proved the hypothesis. Females receive higher test scores than males no matter how much more T.V they watch or do not watch. When it comes to Females that watch T.V. and females that do not watch T.V., it is 13% gap in between the scores. That is a tremendous difference. When it come to Males, it is also a 13% gap in between the scores. This proves that both sexes are greatly affected by the amount of television that they watch.
