The boys in their ninja personae Episode no. Season8 Episode 1 Trey Parker Trey Parker

Directed by Written by

Original air date March 17, 2004

"Good Times with Weapons" is episode 112 of South Park. The first episode of Season 8, it originally aired on March 17, 2004. The episode's animation routinely switches from the usual cutout-and-solid-color style to a highly stylized anime theme. Asian-style ambience plays in the background. This was also one of ten episodes to be featured on South Park: The Hits DVD. In addition, it was voted the 2nd best episode of all time by fans in the United States, while being ranked the third best among fans in the United Kingdom. This episode was one of the first to be available in high definition, available on Xbox 360's Marketplace. A promotional HD DVD was also released exclusively for Best Buy. The show was rated TV-MA on Comedy Central but was rated TV-14-LV on MTV.

Plot
At the Park County Fair, the boys come across a vendor dealing "authentic weapons from the Far East." After tricking him into selling them several dangerous ninja weapons (parental permission is required if the hopeful buyer is under 18; Cartman uses this information to pretend that he, Kenny, Kyle and Stan are orphaned brothers, a ruse the boys have apparently successfully used "like twelve times" in the past), they pretend to be ninjas, only to transform into anime-like characters with their own individual superpowers, as the animation style takes on an overall Japanese look and switches to a Cinemascope aspect ratio. The boys refuse to let Butters play, so he becomes his alter ego, Professor Chaos, and sets off to fight them in a stylized anime sequence. The sequence ends abruptly when Kenny throws a shuriken at Butters, whom they all see as Chaos, which hits him in the eye and gets stuck. To avoid having to explain themselves and getting into trouble with their parents by taking him to a regular hospital, the boys dress Butters up as a dog and begin their journey to the local veterinarian. The boys hide Butters in an abandoned stove before facing off with Craig's gang, who have also acquired ninja weapons out of envy. After an epic battle, the boys realize that Butters has disappeared and try to find him before he can tell anyone, enlisting Craig's gang in the search. Meanwhile, Butters makes his way to the hospital, but his disguise fools the doctor, who sends him to the animal shelter. At the shelter, the still-wounded Butters is urinated and defecated on by multiple other dogs. The elderly animal doctor, also fooled, makes no attempt to treat him, preparing instead to put him to sleep. Before he can do so, however, Butters escapes, so the doctor simply says, "Oh, well. Let's murder one of these other dogs."

"Good Times with Weapons" The boys decide to dispose of the evidence and return to the fair to have the vendor refund their weapons, but Craig and the others inform them that they have seen Butters wandering around on the other side of the fair auction. Cartman pretends to be invisible to get to Butters undetected, unwittingly exposing himself onstage to the shocked audience. Butters stumbles onto the stage a few moments later and collapses. The final scene shows the townsfolk protesting at an emergency meeting about the outrage at the auction. The boys are under the impression that the outrage in question is Butters' wound (which has by this time been medically treated), but it soon transpires that the real polemic is Cartman's public nudity. Cartman explains that it was a "wardrobe malfunction," and the episode ends with the other three boys addressing the issue that adults are more offended by sex over violence, allowing them to keep their weapons.

Development
This episode features "Let's Fighting Love," a theme song that mixes Japanese and English lyrics. The song is performed by series creator Trey Parker.[1] Also, in spite of the episode's popularity among fans, Parker and Stone openly admitted in the Season 8 commentary track that they didn't think it was a very good episode.
Romaji Subarashi chin chin mono Kintama no kami aru Sore no oto sarubobo Iie! Ninja ga imasuuuuuuuu Hey hey let's go kenka suru Taisetsu na mono protect my balls! Boku ga warui so let's fighting... Creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone jokingly referred to 2004 in their DVD commentary as "The Year From Hell." They were filming and premiering Team America: World Police while working on the season, which caused them a considerable amount of writer's block.

"Up the Down Steroid"

"Up the Down Steroid"
South Park episode
Cartman signs up for the Special Olympics Episode no. Season8 Episode 3 Trey Parker 803 March 24, 2004

Written by Production code Original air date

"Up the Down Steroid" is the 113th episode of the Comedy Central series South Park. The title is a parody of the book Up the Down Staircase. It originally aired on March 24, 2004.

Plot
Timmy and Jimmy, the two disabled children in South Park, are due to participate in the Special Olympics in Denver. Cartman decides to fake being disabled and beat all the handicapped children in the events and win the $1,000 prize.[1] To pretend to be handicapped, Cartman undergoes a rigorous "Push It to the Limit" montage that shows a training regime of sitting on the special education bus while taking notes of how "retards" act, cutting his hair badly, studying a Kid Rock performance, modifying his shoes so it looks like he has a club foot, wearing a bicycle helmet, and pulling the string of said helmet so tightly around his face that it both deforms it and affects his ability to speak. Meanwhile, Jimmy is talked into taking steroids by Nathan to increase his chances of winning. He manages to keep his use of it a secret from everyone except for his training partner and best friend, Timmy. Timmy frowns on this, but, unable to say anything other than his name, Jimmy's name and the quote "Livin' a lie!" he is unable to fully explain the situation to his school counselor, Mr. Mackey. Also, Jimmy starts to neglect his girlfriend and studies and, soon, his steroid use sends him into a steroid rage, causing him to savagely attack his girlfriend and mother (with Samuel Barber's "Adagio for Strings" playing as the atmospheric soundtrack as he loses his mind). Throughout the episode, Kyle tries to talk Cartman out of his plans. Kyle hates Cartman and has always seen him as a thoroughly ruthless boy, but Kyle sees Cartman's plans as so horrible that he seriously worries that Cartman will go to hell for his antics in this episode. He even goes as far as to call himself Cartman's friend. Cartman dismisses Kyle, claiming that Kyle is the one who is going to hell because he is Jewish. At the Special Olympics, Jimmy sets multiple records and is declared the winner. Cartman, on the other hand, is so out-of-shape and overweight that he is beaten by all the handicapped children, who have all spent weeks in intensive training before the start of the competition. However, he gets a "spirit award" of a gift voucher to Shakey's Pizza. When he comes up to the stand to collect the prize, Jimmy recognizes Cartman and is about to beat him up for being a cheater, but Timmy intervenes, and Jimmy realises that he is just as much of a cheater himself too. Jimmy confesses his drug use to the crowd and returns his medal. As he says that people who are taking steroids are "big fat pussies", and asks for his records to be cancelled, the camera pans across guests Mark McGwire, Barry Bonds and Jason Giambi. At that point, the people give Jimmy a standing ovation with cheers for being honest, and

"Up the Down Steroid" he says he'll be back next year to "compete with honor." Cartman then tells his friends that he pretended to be retarded just to teach Jimmy about taking steroids, but they simply stare at him. In response, Cartman angrily says, "Oh yeaah?! Well, you guys are assholes!! Grow up!!" He then walks away.

Kyle watches The Passion of the Christ Episode no. Season8 Episode 3 Trey Parker Trey Parker March 31, 2004

Directed by Written by Original air date

"The Passion of the Jew" is episode 114 of the Comedy Central series South Park and was originally broadcast on March 31, 2004. The episode (and its title) is a satire of the movie The Passion of the Christ, which was released in 2004.

Plot
The episode begins with the boys playing Star Trek in Cartman's mother's new minivan. They go on an away mission, with Cartman, as usual, giving Kyle a hard time about being a Jew, in this case a "Vulcan Jew". Cartman informs him that in Mel Gibson's The Passion, Jews are stated to be evil, and dares Kyle to see it. Kyle goes to the film and is horrified by how Jesus is tortured. He admits that Cartman was right, and an overjoyed Cartman prays to a poster of Gibson, vowing he will dedicate his life to following Gibson's "teachings" and spreading his word. Kyle is paranoid after a terrifying dream of killing Jesus. Stan and Kenny decide that they too must see the film, but they hate it and declare it a "snuff film". They demand their money back from the theater, but the theater refuses and the two decide to contact Gibson and get their money from him. They contact the president of the Mel Gibson fanclub, revealed to be Cartman, who yells at them for hating the film. Cartman slips and tells them that Gibson lives in Malibu, and Stan and Kenny decide to go find Gibson's home. Meanwhile, Cartman dresses in a brown Hitler-esque uniform and prepares himself for the fan-club meeting being held in his backyard, where the fan-club members have gathered to celebrate their rediscovery of Christianity. Cartman suggests that those in attendance each take one more person to see The Passion before they begin "the cleansing", and the fan-club members, naive to what Cartman is truly suggesting, agree with him. Stan and Kenny hitchhike to Gibson's Malibu mansion, where Gibson refuses to refund their money. When they press him to pay them, Gibson prompts them to torture him, stripping to his underwear and chasing them around the mansion shooting at them with a pistol. The two take their money and eventually board a bus back to South Park, but Gibson chases after them in the tanker truck from Mad Max 2 while screaming "Qapla'!" and wearing face paint from Braveheart. Back in South Park, Kyle talks to Father Maxi about Jesus and how he can deal with his guilt about the crucifixion. Father Maxi points out that the Passion was originally a play used to stir up antisemitism, but suggests that its subject matter can help viewers feel the force of the "atonement" of Jesus. In a rally outside the South Park theater at which The Passion is being shown, Cartman yells antisemitic German at his followers, who mistake it for Aramaic. The members agree to take to the streets, and begin marching after Cartman, who is goose-stepping and chanting in German "Wir mssen die Juden ausrotten", which means "We must exterminate the Jews". Kyle goes to his synagogue and suggests that the Jewish community apologize for the Crucifixion. The other Jews are outraged, expressing their concern that the film is provoking antisemitism. The rabbi tries to calm them, telling

"The Passion of the Jew" them that "we live in a rational community, and everyone knows this is just a movie". No sooner has he said this, however, than Cartman and his followers pass the building, chanting again in German. That night the Jewish congregation goes to the theater and demands they stop showing the movie, when Cartman and his followers arrive. Their argument about the film is interrupted by the arrival of the truck chase. Gibson's truck crashes and explodes in front of the theater, but Gibson emerges unscathed. Cartman rushes over to kneel before him, and Kyle and the fan-club members are shocked at Gibson's behavior, as he again prompts them to torture him. Stan makes a speech that Christians should follow the teachings of Jesus and not focus on the way he died, and the fan-club members agree and disperse, much to Cartman's dismay. Kyle feels better about being a Jew after seeing what Gibson is really like, and Gibson himself defecates on Cartman's face and runs off whooping.

Reception
The New York Times' Virginia Heffernan praised the episode, writing "Depending on whom you asked, that episode, 'The Passion of the Jew,' proved that the show's still got it or that it's made a comeback or that it's better than ever. In any case, it was good."[1] It was also praised by the Anti-Defamation League and the Jewish newspaper The Forward, which called it "perhaps the most biting critique of 'The Passion' to date."[2] The episode was not aired by MTV Russia, a TV channel that aired South Park in Russia at that time, presumably because of its controversial content.

DVD releases
Besides appearing on the South Park complete eighth season DVD set, "Passion of the Jew" is also available as a standalone DVD release (which was released on DVD the same day that the DVD of the Passion of the Christ was released) with two bonus episodes: season six's "Red Hot Catholic Love" and season seven's "Christian Rock Hard".

Butters, after his tap-dancing tragedy Episode no. Season8 Episode 4 Trey Parker Trey Parker

Directed by Written by

Original air date April 7, 2004

"You Got F'd in the A"[1] (often retitled "You Got..." or "You Got Served" on television listings) is episode 115 of the Comedy Central series South Park. Originally broadcast on April 7, 2004, the episode (and its title) is a satire of the movie You Got Served, which was released earlier that year.

Plot synopsis
Stan and his friends are playing with RC cars when a group of kids from Orange County come and dance in front of them, thus "serving" them. The group leaves after trash-talking Stan and the boys, who are left confused by the confrontation. The kids talk to Chef, unaware of what being "served" entails. Chef immediately shows great concern, and calls their parents to inform them about the ordeal and assure them that their children are all right. Later, over dinner, Randy Marsh gets upset about his son's being served and "teaches" him to dance back with a few very basic line dancing steps to the tune of Billy Ray Cyrus's "Achy Breaky Heart". The next time Stan gets served by the Orange County kids, he serves them back, switching CDs on the boombox so that he may dance to "Achy Breaky Heart". "You just got F'd in the A!" says Cartman to the Orange County kids, who respond by declaring that "it's on"; there is now a dance contest to be had, the Orange County kids versus the best dancers in South Park. Mrs. Marsh berates Randy about his telling and teaching Stan to dance back, as it was this which led to its being on. Randy goes to the Orange County team to apologize and make it clear that "it's not on; it's off", but the Orange County coach takes this as a challenge and goes on to serve Randy with some exceptional dance moves. Randy winds up in the hospital with the worst case of "being served" that his doctor has ever seen. Stan goes out to find the town's best dancers: the leader of the goth kids' gang, an Asian kid named Yao, who is a Dance Dance Revolution expert (yet claims not to dance without the machine, a pastime he perceives as stupid); and Mercedes, the manager of the Raisins girls. Needing a fifth member, Mercedes suggests Butters, who was once state tap-dancing champion. When they ask him to join, however, he is stunned and runs away screaming. It is revealed through flashback that, in 2002, his shoe flew off during the national Tap-Dancing Finals, hit a stage light in the rafters and led to an extremely gruesome chain of events that left eight people in the audience dead. (Butters later learns to his horror from Stan that the total death count was actually eleven, because one woman was pregnant and two others committed suicide after the tragedy.) This all happened to the upbeat (and risqu) tune of "I've Got Something in My Front Pocket for You". Butters flatly refuses to participate in the show, even after further pressing, so the team has to settle for a dancing duck named Jeffy from a local farm. Jeffy has not danced to any songs other than those about drug use and domestic violence played by the farmer, all to extensively modified lyrics of the song "The Crawdad Song".

"You Got F'd in the A" On the day of the performance, Jeffy's ankle gets sprained during practice. The team looks likely to be forced to forfeit, as competition rules require a mandatory five members. Just in time, though, Butters suddenly arrives in his tap-dancing outfit, allowing the kids to perform. When they do, however, Butters' shoe flies off again and hits a stage light, causing the rafter to fall on and kill the entire Orange County team and their coach. Although Butters is horrified by this, the South Park team wins by default, and a bloodstained, screaming and horribly traumatized Butters is carried off and hailed as a hero.

"AWESOM-O" is the 116th episode of the Comedy Central animated cartoon series South Park. It was originally broadcast on April 14, 2004.

Plot
Cartman plays a prank on Butters by disguising himself as a robot named "The A.W.E.S.O.M.-O 4000" and by putting himself in a crate on Butters's doorstep. Cartman is planning to befriend the gullible Butters and discover his embarrassing secrets, so he can blackmail him or embarrass him in school. Though Butters acknowledges that his birthday is "not until September 11", he enthusiastically accepts this deception and reveals several personal secrets. However, Cartman's prank backfires when Butters reveals that he knows one of Cartman's secrets - he has a videotape of Cartman doing a Britney Spears dance routine to a life-sized cutout of Justin Timberlake while dressed as her, which he plans to show to his classmates the next time Cartman plays a prank on him, which Cartman is already doing. Cartman, terrified about Butters' plan of revenge searches desperately for the tape but to no avail. Cartman soon is starving because Butters believes that, since he is a robot, he does not need to eat. Butters also forces the robot to do all his chores for him, including some of the more unpleasant tasks. With the agreement of Cartman's mom, Butters' parents (knowing who AWESOM-O really is but thinking it an elaborate game that Butters is in on) decide to let AWESOM-O come along with Butters on a trip to Los Angeles to see his aunt. Cartman realizes that he will have to accompany Butters on the trip, in order to keep up his disguise. Upon arriving, he is so hungry and worn out after wearing the suit for a whole airplane ride that he makes up an excuse to use the bathroom and proceeds to eat toothpaste. In Hollywood, movie producers hear about the "robot" and decide to hire him from Butters to create movie ideas. Cartman, as the robot, pitches over one thousand nonsensical ideas (800 of which star Adam Sandler), whilst the movie producers are gullible enough to buy them as brilliant. To make matters worse for Cartman, the fortune that he makes from the movie ideas is donated to charity by Butters, who believes that AWESOM-O has no need for the money. Meanwhile, the U.S. military hears about AWESOM-O, and decides to capture it and make it into a weapon. AWESOM-O flees the movie studio in panic after a film producer tries to engage in sexual activity with him, thinking that he may be a "pleasure model." The military captures AWESOM-O by shocking him and conveying him to a secret base. Cartman tries to explain that he is really just a kid, but the military believes he is a robot with artificial intelligence enabling him to think like a human, even possessing the memories of an 8-year-old child. A scientist, moved by this, attempts to save Cartman, who is about to reveal that he is a human when Butters shows up to rescue him. He has to maintain his disguise, allowing the military to kill the rebellious scientist. Butters pleads with the military to spare AWESOM-O: the general is touched. Just as it appears he will get off undetected, Cartman farts, causing Butters to

"AWESOM-O" suspect and finally discover his true identity. Butters carries out his promise and shows the video to the whole town, as well as the movie producers and the military.

Mr. Jefferson, Cartman, Stan, Blanket, and Kyle sleeping in Stan's bed. Episode no. Season8 Episode 6 Trey Parker Trey Parker April 21, 2004

Directed by Written by Original air date

"The Jeffersons" is episode 117 of the Comedy Central animated series South Park. It was originally broadcast on April 21, 2004 and has been described as "a howlingly funny assault on Michael Jackson."[1]

Plot
Stan, Kyle, Cartman and Kenny are riding their Big Wheels when they noticed that someone new has moved into the Donovans' former residence. When they stop to inspect the house a little boy named Blanket tells them they moved to South Park to escape city life. He invites them inside but they decline, but rethink the offer when Blanket tells them they have Arcade Games inside. They then realize the House is filled with toys and games, and the backyard is a circus. They meet Blanket's father Mr. Jefferson a wealthy, eccentric, effeminate, pale-skinned man-child (who is really Michael Jackson but calls himself Martin Jefferson and wears a Fake moustache) invites them to play with him and climb 'his wishing tree' and bursts out into song. Kyle begins to notice Mr. Jefferson is neglecting his own son and paying more attention to the other children. He starts to feel bad for Mr. Jefferson's son and brings it up with his friends, after which Cartman warns Kyle to not ruin his relationship with Mr. Jefferson. Stan tells his parents about the Jefferson's and Sharon Marsh decides to invite them over to a dinner party they are having with Gerald and Sheila Broflovski and Stephen and Linda Stotch. The adults try to talk with Mr. Jefferson later that night at the dinner but he is more shy around adults than children, and manages to revolt the other parents when he praises the kids. Cartman becomes jealous that they are having Mr. Jefferson over without him and starts to feel paranoid that he is being besmirched to Mr Jefferson by his friends. Later that midnight at Stan's house, he is woken by Mr. Jefferson dressed up as Peter Pan who wants to play. Cartman then comes through the window after Mr. Jefferson not wanting Stan to have Mr. Jefferson all to himself. Kyle then shows up at the door with Blanket who he found alone in his backyard. Mr Jefferson suggests a sleepover between the boys and even though they are reluctant they agree. That next morning Stan's parents walk in to see Mr. Jefferson in Stan's bed and reprimand Mr. Jefferson for this instance of inappropriate behaviour and tell him to leave, he offer Stan's parents $100 each to be quiet. Sharon forbids the boys to see Mr. Jefferson anymore, none who have a problem with it except Cartman. Meanwhile at the Park County Police Station Harrison Yates about gets a report about the Jefferson's that says they are wealthy and black, and the whole department sets off to frame him for a crime as they express their disdain for African Americans who are wealthier than them. They spend that night planting cocaine and blood in Mr. Jefferson's home and wait for him to come home. When Mr. Jefferson returns with Blanket from Stan's house they see he really isn't black and they abort the operation, sick with themselves that they had almost put an innocent white man in jail. Mr. Jefferson refuses to let Blanket outside anymore because he thinks everyone is against them. Stan and Kyle start to fear for the safety of Blanket after seeing Mr Jefferson dangle him from the balcony of his house. They decide to

"The Jeffersons" rescue him from the house by replacing him with Kenny in his bed .Harrison Yates returns home planning on quitting the force, but his wife tells him into him telling him 'framing wealthy black people is in his blood', and encourages him to stay on the force. Harrison agrees and decides to check into the Mr. Jefferson case to see what went wrong. Mr. Jefferson, meanwhile is desperately trying to stop his face from falling apart from years of plastic surgery, and calls his Plastic Surgeon in California to see if he can fly out and put his face back together as it is falling apart. Harrison Yates at that time is calling the Santa Barbara Police Department, Mr. Jefferson's former residence and they alert him that they framed a rich black man of molestation who didn't look black at all, and he ran away before the trial. Stan and Kyle try and smuggle Blanket out of the house but are confronted by a horribly disfigured Mr. Jefferson who wants them to play. They run away to Blanket's room and Mr. Jefferson, upon seeing Kenny dressed up like Blanket, throws him in the air playfully. However, Kenny is thrown too high and is killed when his head smashes through the ceiling. Mr. Jefferson chases the other three outside where the Police Department is waiting to arrest him for the molestation charges put on him by the Santa Barbara Police force and a crowd gathers around. Cartman then jumps to the defense of Mr. Jefferson, saying he is tired of all the 'lies' being spread about Mr. Jefferson. He adds that Mr. Jefferson may be different but it was only because he had to work all the time when he was young and never had a childhood of his own, which was why he associated more with children. Kyle then adds to it by explaining to everyone that it might seem logical that the police really do spend all their time framing rich black people (the police look at each other nervously at this point) and that it might be OK that Mr Jefferson acts like a child because he never had a childhood, but delivers the message that he has to grow up because he has a child of his own now. Mr. Jefferson then sees what he should do and decides to be more of a father to Blanket and give away their wealth to the needy, no longer leaving a reason for the Police to arrest him since he is no longer rich.

South Park episode
A "gooback" is almost hit by a car Episode no. Season8 Episode 7 Trey Parker Trey Parker

Directed by Written by

Original air date April 28, 2004

"Goobacks" is the 7th episode of the 8th season of the animated television series South Park, and the 118th overall episode of the series. It originally aired on Comedy Central in the United States on April 28, 2004. In the episode, people from a poverty-stricken future travel back in time to find work, affecting the town's economy and the employment of the original occupants. The episode serves as a satire of illegal immigration, and mocks both sides of the debate concerning it.

Plot
Early in the morning, a mysterious alien man appears in South Park, entering from some kind of portal. Unfamiliar with his surroundings, he is hit lightly by a car. After shovelling snow, Stan, Kyle, Cartman and Kenny watch a report on CNN about the mysterious arrival. The alien, who has come from over a thousand years in the future, is looking for work because of the overpopulation and poverty of his time, and he learns that the money that he earns in the 21st century will be enough to feed his family in 3045. Soon enough, large numbers of immigrants begin to come through the portal. The aliens are described by CNN as "a hairless, uniform mix of all races" with the same skin color, while their language is a guttural mixture of all world languages. As the boys return to offer to shovel snow again the next day, they find that the newly arrived time-immigrants have shovelled all driveways on the street for very low pay. As the immigrants are willing to accept jobs for that kind of pay, the original workers throughout South Park are fired, thus resulting in massive unemployment throughout the town. At a meeting to discuss their concern with the immigrants, construction worker Darryl Weathers complains that they have worked hard to get their pay high enough to make a living, but now are being ousted by the time immigrants. The other workers voice their own complaints, with each sentence finishing off with an increasingly slurred and garbled exclamation of "They took our jobs!", which later becomes their slogan. Later at that meeting, Weathers has the audience suggest ideas for stopping the immigrants from arriving at the town. One man suggests everyone stripping and engaging in an orgy; Weathers likes the idea, as it is the only way to stop the immigrants from coming because homosexual couples cannot spawn offspring. The protesters agree and begin the orgy. Meanwhile, Stan's father Randy loses his job to an immigrant and becomes the spokesperson of the protesters. Randy is interviewed by CNN while still naked. Next to him is a very embarrassed and disturbed Stan, who explains that he understands that the immigrants are living in poverty and they are just trying to get by, but realizes that poor societies often hurt other societies instead of helping them. He suggests that the people of the present should try to make the future better so the immigrants will not need to come. The entire town begins to recycle, install solar and wind power devices, plant trees, give to the poor, etc., hoping to cause the Goobacks to disappear. Although the townspeople's efforts are successful, the boys observe that the work is "gayer than all the men getting in a big pile and having sex with each other", and with an exclamation of "To the pile!", the male adults resume their orgy.

"Douche and Turd"
South Park episode
The Turd Sandwich campaign rally Episode no. Season8 Episode 8 Trey Parker Trey Parker

Directed by Written by

Production code 808 Original air date October 27, 2004

"Douche and Turd" is the eighth episode of the eighth season of the animated television series South Park, and the 119th episode overall. It first aired on Comedy Central in the United States on October 27, 2004, just before the 2004 presidential election. In the episode, PETA force South Park Elementary to change their school mascot, so a new election is held to determine a new mascot. Meanwhile, Stan ends up getting kicked out of South Park after refusing to vote. The episode was written by series co-creator Trey Parker and is rated TV-MA in the United States.

Plot
During a pep rally at South Park Elementary, a group of local PETA eco-terrorists protest the use of a cow as the school's mascot (for "the 47th time"). The school agrees to pick a new mascot, and the students are told to vote for said new mascot. Embarrassed by the bland choices, the kids decide to fill in a joke candidate but disagree as to whether it should be a "giant douche" or a "turd sandwich". Kyle rallies his friends to fill in the giant douche, and Cartman gathers support for the turd sandwich. Cartman wins Butters' support (by slanting the question when asking Butters which of the two choices was funnier; "a not funny giant douche, or a super funny turd sandwich"), but Kyle wins Jimmy's favor (when Jimmy decides that although both are funny, the fact that the douche is giant renders it useless, adding a parody element to the satire). The result is the two joke candidates get the most votes and the students must choose between the two in an election. Stan does not see the point in voting between a douche and a turd as they are exactly the same in his opinion, and declares that he will not vote at all, much to everyone's dismay. Stan is equally dismayed, wondering why anyone would care about such a pointless exercise. He talks about it with his parents at dinner, but his parents are not impressed with his apathy at all and even get into a fight over who should win when Stan explains who the two competitors are. This results in Kyle calling on Sean Combs, who intimidates Stan with a literal Vote or Die campaign. Meanwhile the campaign continues, with the turd sandwich supporters rallying against the giant douche supporters, using bribes and scare tactics to gain support. By the time of the election, Stan agrees to vote after being chased by Combs and his associates through the streets with guns. However, he realizes Kyle only wanted him to vote in order for giant douche to win when Kyle sees he voted turd sandwich, and demands that he change his vote. Cartman encourages thiseven going so far as to offer him a five-star dinner. Disgusted with this electoral process, Stan once again refuses to vote. The school administration decides that Stan must be banished from the town for all eternity or until he decides that voting is important. He is spat on by the townspeople while his shirt is ripped off piece by piece (Kyle tries to convince him one last time to vote giant douche) before being placed on a horse, bound with a bucket over his head, and sent off

"Douche and Turd" into the woods. Stan is eventually released by the PETA members when he reaches their compound and they attempt to save the horse (they believe he was making the horse let him ride it against its will). Here he finds that the humans have grown intimate with the animals to the point of zoophilia, even a man interbreeding with an ostrich and producing a wretched hybrid that begs to be put out of its misery. Stan is unable to fit in at PETA, explaining his trouble to the leader of PETA. The PETA's leader teaches him that an election is always between a douche and a turd, because they are the only people who suck up enough to make it that far in politics. Combs shows up at the camp to kill Stan, but is distracted by a PETA member who throws a bucket of red paint (which PETA members do throughout the entire episode) on his fur coat. This breaks that last thread of control Combs has, and he takes his rage out on the PETA camp, with him and his posse killing all the members, except the hybrid. The animals do not care whatsoever about the death of the PETA members and flee without panic or remorse. Stan manages to escape the melee and flees the camp. Returning to South Park, Stan is finally convinced to vote and chooses turd sandwich, when the head of the PETA compound tells Stan that, "every election is between a Giant Douche and a Turd". Despite adding his vote to the tally, the giant douche still wins the vote 1410 to 36. Stan is initially dismayed that his vote did not matter, but Randy informs his son that all votes matter even if it is for the losing side. Suddenly, Mr. Garrison runs in with the news that the PETA members have been discovered murdered. As a result, the cow is reinstated as South Park Elementary School's mascot. Randy tells Stan that now his vote did not matter, to Stan's annoyance at having gone through so much for nothing.

Politics
According to Nick Gillespie of Reason magazine, this episode "pretty much sums up how most libertarians approach politics."[1] Also, the episode is an allegory for the 2004 presidential election.

"Something Wall-Mart This Way Comes"
South Park episode
South Park as a ghost town Episode no. Season8 Episode 9 Trey Parker Trey Parker 809 November 3, 2004

Directed by Written by Production code Original air date

"Something Wall-Mart This Way Comes" is the ninth episode of the eighth season of the American animated television series South Park, and the 120th episode of the series overall. It originally aired on Comedy Central in the United States on November 3, 2004. In the episode, a Wall-Mart is built in South Park, and the people start get addicted to shopping from it. The four boys have to fight against Wall-Mart and to find a way to stop it. Its title and theme were inspired by the 1983 Disney movie Something Wicked This Way Comes based on the 1962 novel by Ray Bradbury.[1]

Plot
The episode begins with Cartman betting Kyle five dollars that when people die they "crap their pants". Kyle says it is a stupid idea. In the meantime, a Wall-Mart opens in South Park (where Starks Pond used to be) with much fanfare and everyone in town starts shopping there. Cartman is especially delighted that one can buy three copies of Timecop for $18 instead of just one for $9.98, though Kyle wonders why one would need three copies of the same movie. The popularity of Wall-Mart forces the local businesses to shut down, including Jim's Drugs, within minutes of Kyle's declaration that he will now take all his personal shopping there. Local residents, including Stan's father Randy, soon start to work at Wall-Mart for minimum wage and an extra 10% employee discount on store purchases which according to Randy, evens out the wage. South Park turns into a ghost town, and the townspeople decide they no longer want the Wall-Mart in South Park. They fail to resist, as they start to miss the bargains (Randy's frenzied case of impulse buying notably re-opens at dinner the first day after the self-imposed ban when Stan accidentally breaks his milk glass), so they (in the form of a vigilante mob) ask the Wall-Mart manager to have the location shut down. Terrified, he asks them to meet him outside in five minutes. As the people stop outside his office, the manager is thrown through the office window in an apparent suicide by hanging, and then defecates with his pants on (to the viewer, the force of defecation is so strong that the pants are blown off). Cartman gleefully tells Kyle he owes him $5. The townspeople burn the building down, only to see it rebuilt. A man rebuilding the Wall-Mart tells Kenny, Kyle and Stan that the rebuilding order came from Wall-Mart's headquarters in Bentonville, Arkansas (which is phonetically misspelled as Arkansaw). The three of them then travel to Bentonville to stop the Wall-Mart, but are joined by Cartman, whom the Wall-Mart "told" to stop them. Though none of the boys trust him (Kyle knows for a fact that Cartman is secretly against them), they are in a hurry to leave. They then reach Bentonville, despite Cartman's sabotage (slashing the tires of the bus they travel on), and talk to Harvey Brown, the current president of Wall-Mart. The boys ask him how they can stop it, and he tells them they need to find and destroy its "heart". As the

"Something Wall-Mart This Way Comes" boys leave, Brown commits suicide by shooting himself in the head and craps his pants. Cartman again laughs that Kyle now owes him $10. The boys try to re-enter South Park Wall-Mart but Cartman confronts them. He denies that they knew he was against them, but Kyle angrily begins yelling at him that he knew Cartman was against them all along, while Cartman continues to talk about why he was against them. Kenny is then assigned to hold Cartman off while Stan and Kyle enter the Wall-Mart. In the television department, the boys are confronted by a man who says he is Wall-Mart, a reference to the film The Matrix Reloaded. He says that he can take "many forms" although he only puts on different costumes. After a confusing dialogue, he finally tells the boys that the heart "lies beyond that plasma screen television". The boys walk over to find it is a small mirror, that the boys then smash to "destroy the heart." The actual building of Wall-Mart then begins to fall apart, while the man says they will see him in his "true form". However, he does no more than rip off his mustache and jump around. The boys and everyone else inside the Wall-Mart evacuate and gather with other townsfolk in the parking lot, and see the Wall-Mart fold in on itself in a blinding flash of light, and "craps out feces" upon which Cartman laughs loud and hard once again and leaves the scene. Everyone cheers because Kyle tells everyone that all of these places have a self-destruct sequence if they break a mirror in the back. Chef tells a soldier to spread the word to all the towns on how to destroy these places, in reference to a scene from the film Independence Day. Randy then announces that the Wall-Mart's "heart" was their desires the whole time. Oblivious to the fact that the boys consider this obvious, Randy explains pedantically how the residents of South Park had allowed their consumerism to work against them and nearly destroy their cherished small-town charm. Realizing their mistake albeit only on the surface the townspeople loyally return to shopping at Jim's Drugs, which is shown to grow increasingly larger in a Wall-Mart wholesale fashion before being burned down itself. Watching it burn, the townspeople vow not to shop there again, and they immediately head to the local True Value.

The boys play "fireman" in pre-school Episode no. Season8 Episode 10 Trey Parker Trey Parker

Directed by Written by

Original air date November 10, 2004

"Pre-School" is the 121st episode and the 10th in season 8 of the Comedy Central series South Park. It originally aired on November 10, 2004.

Plot
A terrified Stan announces to Kyle, Kenny, Cartman and Butters that Trent Boyett, a notorious bully from their preschool years, is being released from juvenile hall after a five year sentence. In flashback, the boys got the idea one day to play "Fireman", and decided to put out a fire by urinating on it. Wanting to put out a real fire, they ask delinquent and bully, Trent Boyett, to start one. The nearby Butters sees and hears this, and asks them if they know what they're doing. Still, they tell him to leave them alone, and he backs off. However the fire soon gets out of control, and their teacher Miss Claridge is badly burned. After she is taken away in an ambulance, the boys tell the police not only that Trent started the fire, but also that it was entirely his idea. When Trent tries to tell the police that the fire was the boys' idea, Stan, Kyle, Cartman and Kenny deny this. Trent tells Butters to tell them what he saw, but Butters is scared of being grounded and doesn't stick up for him. As a result, Trent is taken away to juvenile hall, where he will spend five years. Now that Trent is free, the boys consider telling their parents about Trent wanting revenge, but Kyle explains that they lied to everyone for five years and would get in worse trouble. Miss Claridge meanwhile was burned so badly that she is forever confined to a motorized wheelchair (resembling Christopher Pike from Star Trek). She can only communicate by using an electronic beep: once for "yes", twice for "no". She is shown moving throughout the town, and is halfway across the street when the battery to the chair dies, leaving her stranded in the middle of a crosswalk, and unable to move or communicate. Butters is the first of the boys that Trent confronts, which results in a hospital stay for Butters, who sustains, according to the Doctor, a number of childhood pranks, including a massive snuggie, two Indian sunburns, a charlie horse, a second degree titty-twister, a "colossal" swirlie, a noogie and something called a "Polish bike ride". He appears to be in a trauma-induced coma. The boys try to ask the sixth graders for protection from Trent, but the sixth graders demand that Stan produce a photo of his mother's uncovered breasts. The boys improvise by taking a photo of Cartman's buttocks, which they dress up to look like breasts, including drawn-on nipples. The sixth graders agree to protect the boys, but only after taking the photograph behind a set of bushes. The boys are initially relieved, only to later discover that Trent dispatched all of the sixth graders single-handedly, sending them to the hospital with injuries similar to Butters'. With no one left to turn to, the boys ask Stan's sister, Shelley, to defend them, but she only agrees to help them on the condition that they confess to Miss Claridge what really happened five years ago.

"Pre-School" The boys meet Miss Claridge who is still stuck in the middle of the street, and attempt to make peace with her, but Trent arrives to confront them. Cartman takes out his mom's taser gun, and fires it at Trent, but the electrodes land on Miss Claridge's chair instead, charging it to such a degree that it runs out of control, crashing into a propane shop, creating an explosion that destroys the shop and sets Miss Claridge on fire. After she then crashes into a fire hydrant, which puts out the flames, the police arrive and ask Miss Claridge if Trent tried to kill her again. She replies "no" with two beeps, but the police misunderstand this to mean "Yes, yes", and arrest Trent. The boys, having learned nothing from the experience, make the same mistake that they made five years before, claiming that they were not involved with the incident at all. When Kyle points out that Trent will be angered when he gets out of juvenile hall, Cartman dismisses this, saying, "Whatever, that's like, five years from now!" As Cartman moons Trent, the sixth graders happen upon the scene, and see Cartman's buttocks, still with nipples drawn on them. Recognizing them as the breasts from the photograph, they pick Cartman up, saying, "I'm taking them to the bushes".

"Quest for Ratings"
South Park episode
Butters reports on the celebrities, or lack thereof, seen around South Park Episode no. Season8 Episode 11 Trey Parker Trey Parker November 17, 2004

Directed by Written by Original air date

"Quest for Ratings" is the 122nd episode in the Comedy Central series South Park. Its original air date was November 17, 2004.

Plot synopsis
Eric Cartman, Jimmy, Butters, Kyle, Token and Stan are taping "Super School News", a newscast airing on South Park Elementary's closed-circuit television system. Cartman and Jimmy play the leading roles as head anchors, Butters is the entertainment/celebrity reporter, Stan is a field reporter, Token is the meteorologist, and Kyle does sports. However after their news program airs, their teacher Mr. Meryl tells them that they did horribly in the ratings, trailing far behind Craig's home video show, "Animals Close-Up With a Wide-Angle Lens", which they consider pointless and banal. The news team then pledges to make a program that will be a ratings booster and gain the attention of all students. They rename the show "Sexy Action School News" and add flashy elements (in a parody of various infotainment shows), including random "Panda Madness Minutes" in which the newscasters spontaneously dance with pandas. However, nothing seems to work; although they beat Craig's original series, they fall behind his follow up "Animals Close-Up With a Wide-Angle Lens Wearing Hats". To get ideas, the boys decide to get high on cough medicine. They begin to feel 'stoned', then have weird hallucinations, seeing each other as monstrous grotesques (including Kyle having the head of a wolf and massive yellow eyes, and Cartman being a shapeless blob of fat). Prize-winning dogs on display, animated Mandelbrot designs, and tunnels of light with weird performance art displays at the end whirl through their brain and they stumble around town in a trance, getting higher and higher, conjuring up stop-motion animation images of bustling cities, blooming flowers, African dancers and imploding buildings. Butters pulls off all his clothes and cheerfully runs around the town naked, while the boys do nothing to stop him. They eventually retire to their ideas room, and watch Craig's show with stoned expressions, and find it awesome. When they come around, their notepads contain nothing useful. Cartman drew a circle and a squiggly line, and Kyle wrote down the lyrics to the Happy Days theme. Meanwhile Butters is naked to his briefs and lying face-down in Kyle's lap and wondering where his clothes are. Then Stan realizes that the video they were watching all night and concluded was the 'greatest show ever' while under the influence of cough medicine was Craig's show. They realize that Craig's show gets such good ratings because most of the school must be totally high on cough medicine. They then decide to produce a special report that gets cough medicine banned from school. Their investigation includes such footage as one of them crawling around in the vents, them interviewing the Principal Victoria, and ironically CCTV of them buying cough syrup. Soon after, the ratings drop and Craig's show is cancelled, as the children are no longer high and therefore no longer enjoy the show. To emphasize the importance of good ratings, the AV teacher then suspends Craig from school and

"Quest for Ratings" requests the removal of his testicles. Satisfied with their results, the "Sexy Action School News" team discovers the curse of a successful show: each subsequent episode has to be just as good. Back in the writer's room, they come up with nothing and eventually decide to just bail.

Production
With the recent release of season 8 on DVD, many of the mini commentaries revealed that much of the lack of ideas was because Team America: World Police, Trey Parker and Matt Stone's concurrent film, had just been through a long, grueling post-production and left the staff low on energy:

So, this episode marks a very special time in South Park history, because, this was the first time that we were officially... out of ideas.

The girls drag Wendy to the mall for the opening of Paris's store, Stupid Spoiled Whore. Liberated Wendy is shocked by the objectification of women and how her friends are buying into the "spoiled whore" persona. After the store opening Hilton takes off from South Park in her limousine chattering mindlessly on her cell phone while her dog, miserable with its existence, retrieves the chauffeur's gun and commits suicide. Distraught, she sees Butters and decides she has to have him for her new pet, and dresses Butters as a bear and calls him "Mr. Biggles". They go to find Butters parents to lay claim to Butters. Wendy vents her many frustrations with what the store represents to her father, who accompanies her to Hilton's shop. While initially appalled, he is quickly manipulated by the women of South Park into acquiescence and vows to make Wendy "the stupidest, most spoiled whore of them all!" Bebe organizes a "Stupid Spoiled Whore Party" at her house, but refuses to invite Wendy because she is not whorish enough. Wearing skimpy outfits to school, Bebe and the girls make suggestive invitations to the boys, who look more frightened than excited. Cartman, wanting to be cool keeps walking by the girls wanting an invitation and when none comes after several attempts yells at and flips off the girls and then later tries to crash their party. Meanwhile, Butters introduces Paris Hilton to his parents. Hilton offers them $200 million in exchange for Butters; while Mr. and Mrs. Stotch discuss Hilton's proposal in private, Ms. Hilton herself passes out on Butters' bed in a short skirt. The nave Butters pokes curiously at Hilton's vagina, believing it to be an animal that lives in her pants. Upon coming to, Hilton accepts the Stotchs counteroffer of $250 million. At Bebe's party, the girls attempts to act like stupid, spoiled whores terrify the boys, most of whom attempt to run away. Cartman arrives dressed very California casual and tries to enter the party but is rebuffed when twice in a row he makes up the name of the girl who apparently invited him, only for one with a matching name to appear and deny having invited him. Wendy in the meantime has gone to Mr. Garrison's home to seek the advice of the biggest whore she knows, Mr. Slave, who she hopes will teach her how to become a whore like all the other girls. Mr. Slave is shocked that the girls are emulating someone like Paris Hilton and explains to Wendy that being a whore is inherent, not learned. Mr.

"Stupid Spoiled Whore Video Playset" Slave then rushes off to the party to explain to the girls that they should not emulate someone as disgusting and worthless as Paris Hilton. Butters escapes from Paris Hilton after seeing pictures of her former pets' suicide scenes, including Tinkerbell the chihuahua (who shot himself), Patches the Poodle (who hanged himself), Scrambles the collie (who slashed his wrists in a bathtub) and Cuddles the Beagle (who committed seppuku with a katana). Terrified, he attempts to flee--right into Bebe's ongoing party. Hilton, chasing after the child she only sees as her pet, rushes in just in time to hear Mr. Slave telling all the girls that even though Paris Hilton is rich and glamorous, she is really a talentless nobody, while Cartman sneaks in. Paris and Mr. Slave commence to argue over who is the bigger whore, and Paris challenges Mr. Slave to a Whore-Off. At the Whore-Off, Hilton begins with a variety of sex acts, finishing by stuffing an entire pineapple up her vagina. Mr. Slave counters by removing his pants, jumping on top of Hilton and jamming her entire body into his rectum. Mr. Slave silences the amazed crowd with an impassioned speech that parents need to teach their kids to have better role models than Paris Hilton. The girls, seeing the error of their ways, make up with Wendy, while Butters is happy to have escaped from Hilton's clutches. Mr. Slave's speech seems to touch all of the adults of South Park, except for Butters' parents, who are still upset for not receiving $250 million. True to form, Butters's father informs Butters that he is grounded, and (also true to form) Butters is disappointed with both his parents for not being joyful at his return and with himself for failing to inspire said joy in them. Meanwhile, Paris is still stuck inside of Mr. Slave's anus. To her dazed surprise, she is greeted by the Frog King, who tells her to journey through Mr. Slave. This is a reference to the misadventures of Lemmiwinks in the episode "The Death Camp of Tolerance".

Response
Paris Hilton reacted to the episode by saying, "I haven't seen it, but when people copy you, that's like the most flattering thing, so whatever people can say, I just laugh about it. It doesn't matter to me."[1] To this, South Park co-creator Matt Stone reacted, "That shows just how fucked up she is. That's terrible that she's flattered by it."[2] The Guardian has rated the episode as one of the top ten episodes of the noughties.[3]

"Cartman's Incredible Gift"

"Cartman's Incredible Gift"
South Park episode
South Park police count on Cartman's imaginary powers to catch the killer. Episode no. Season8 Episode 13 Trey Parker Trey Parker December 8, 2004

Directed by Written by Original air date

"Cartman's Incredible Gift" is episode 124 of the Comedy Central series South Park. It originally aired December 8, 2004. Though a minor part of the episode, it marks the last appearance of the seldom-seen South Park Elementary school bus driver Mrs. Veronica Crabtree. The episode also continues South Park's critical view of psychics, previously seen in the episode "The Biggest Douche in the Universe".

Plot
Cartman attempts to fly by jumping off of his roof with cardboard wings attached to his arms. His friends have doubts but Kyle enthusiastically encourages him (because he knows it won't work and what it will result in). Cartman hurts himself badly and the other boys all leave the scene discreetly. He emerges from a short coma in the hospital, where he shares a room with a victim of a serial killer who cuts off left hands. When Cartman manages to guess the hospital's dinner menu and a few other obvious routine things, gullible Sergeant Yates believes that the boy has gained psychic powers. Cartman plays along and is taken to the scene of one of the murders, where Yates asks him if he is "seeing anything". Cartman vocalizes his cravings for ice cream and biscuits, prompting Yates to arrest ice-cream store owner Tom Johannsen with extreme brutality. Cartman receives a cash reward. Back at school, Kyle angrily tells Cartman to stop faking psychic abilities, prompting Cartman to threaten to blow his head up through telekinesis. When Cartman starts gesturing and imitating stereotypical sound-effects associated with such powers, the kids run away, except for Kyle, Stan, and Kenny. The left-hand murders resume, but instead of realizing his mistake, Yates rationalizes that these are copycat killings. At the next crime scene, the boys meet a very disturbed man called Michael Deats who is quite obviously the murderer, but Yates refuses to listen to Kyle's pleas, focusing instead on Cartman's fake visions. Cartman's involvement in the case makes him famous, resulting in a visit from an angry group of "psychic detectives" who demand he join their group and pay a fee. Cartman laughs their pretensions off, resulting in a "psychic battle" in which the "detectives" indulge in the same histrionics as Cartman, terrifying his mother. The psychics stop the fight, believing Cartman to be evenly matched, and leave with a threat of class action. Cartman solves this problem by getting Sergeant Yates, who still has blind faith in him, to bust the group. One of the psychics tries to intimidate the police in the same ridiculous way and is shot dead. Kyle meanwhile has followed Deats to his home and obtained fingerprint and blood samples, but he is completely ignored by the police. Deciding he has to do something to stop the killer, he imitates Cartman's attempted flight so that he passes into a coma, and when he wakes up claims to have psychic powers and gives the police his original findings. Yates is skeptical but goes to investigate the suspected murderer anyway. Deats, furious that Cartman has credited his work to others, has kidnapped him and is torturing him in his dungeon by subjecting him to a particularly dull slide-show of holiday snaps.

"Cartman's Incredible Gift" When Yates arrives, he finds many hands on the killer's wall, but ignores them, claiming that they were right hands. He says that when looking at one's left hand (with the palm facing the viewer), the thumb points to the left. The hands on the wall are nailed with the palms facing the wall, making the thumbs point to the right. Because Cartman is gagged up in the basement, Yates cannot hear him and leaves the house unsatisfied, but he questions his own observation about the hands. He goes back to the station, and after a montage depicting running elaborate criminology tests, exercising, and even losing track of what he was doing, he figures out his mistake, and returns to Deats' house. He shoots Deats just as Deats is about to kill Cartman. Back at the hospital, Mr. Johannsen and the psychics are released from prison, and praise Kyle as a real psychic. Kyle then tells them that there are no psychics and says that there is a logical explanation for every psychic story ever heard. The other "psychics", however, decide to reignite their conflict with Cartman, and engage in a "final battle". Kyle screams at them to stop, at which point the light bulbs in the room explode and some electronic devices fall off their shelf, implying that Kyle might really be psychic. Everyone is surprised, but Kyle insists there is a logical explanation for what happened.

South Park episode
Stan's new friends visit him Episode no. Season8 Episode 14 Trey Parker Trey Parker

Directed by Written by

Original air date December 15, 2004 Guest stars Dante Alexander as the lion cubs Daniel O' Donnell

"Woodland Critter Christmas" is episode 125 of the Comedy Central series South Park, and originally aired December 15, 2004. It is currently the last South Park Christmas theme episode.

Synopsis
This episode, which like many Christmas shows has an anapestic rhyming narration and storybook style, begins in the forest, where "the boy in the red poof-ball hat" discovers a group of talking animals, the Woodland Christmas Critters, building a Christmas tree. They convince a surprised Stan to help make a star for their tree before he goes home. That night, they wake him in his room and explain that one of the animals, a porcupine named Porcupiney, is pregnant with the creatures' Savior. Tired and drowsy, Stan agrees to help them build a manger for the baby. They then enlist his help against another problem: every year, they explain, one of the animals conceives their Savior, but every time, a mountain lion kills it before it gives birth to the baby. They insist that Stan is the only one capable of helping them. Exasperated, Stan manages to kill the beast (by tricking her into jumping off a ledge after him), but is dismayed to find that the lion was the mother of three now-orphaned cubs. Stan is further horrified to discover that the woodland critters are, in fact, Satan worshippers, and that their Savior is actually the Antichrist, not an animalistic Son of God. The evil critters point out that this is obvious, saying, "Think about it. Do you really think God would have sex with a porcupine?". They celebrate by sacrificing Rabbitty the Rabbit (much to his delight) and devouring his entrails. A blood orgy immediately follows. Too late, Stan realizes that the mountain lion was only killing the woodland creatures to stop the Anti-Christ from being born. After much persuasion from the narrator, Stan tries to stop the animals himself. But they easily rebuff him with their Satanic powers. Since it appears that only a mountain lion can kill the Antichrist, Stan returns to the mountains to enlist the orphaned cubs. The cubs, however, note that they need to learn "how to kill babies," so Stan (against his willthe narrator forces him to) takes them to an abortion doctor to teach them how to perform abortions. Meanwhile, the evil critters are searching for a human host for the Antichrist. They discover Kyle, who is both un-baptized and Jewish, and kidnap him to serve their purpose. Stan returns in time to discover that the Antichrista vicious little creature clearly modeled on the Tasmanian Devil (Looney Tunes) has already been born, and that his best friend Kyle is tied to a Satanic altar to receive the evil creature. Santa Claus arrives and, when he learns what is happening, pulls out a shotgun and slaughters all the creatures. He is about to kill the Antichrist, but Kylenow free from the altardeclares that he wants the Antichrist to possess him, so that he can make the world better for the Jews. Kyle gulps down the little Anti-Christ baby. His

"Woodland Critter Christmas" eyes glow red and he is about to unleash a devastating blow on the world when the story suddenly cuts away to Mr. Garrison's fourth-grade class. Everything that had happened so far in the episode was merely a Christmas-themed story that Cartman had written and was reading to the class. Kyle tells Cartman to stop, claiming that the story is just another way to mock Kyle's religion at Christmas time. Mr. Garrison, fearing complaints from Kyle's mother, forces Cartman to stop. The other boysincluding Stan himself, however, plead with Kyle to let Cartman continue because they want to hear the ending; Kyle objects that the ending is obvious, that Kyle (in the story) will merely be killed by Santa Claus so that Christmas is saved. Cartman says that is not the ending, and as the other kids persist, Kyle angrily allows Cartman to continue. Back in the story, Kyle suddenly declares that he can now feel that the Antichrist is pure evil and wants it out, while Stan responds, "What did you expect, dude? It's the son of the Devil!" Santa, however, says that they have no choice but to kill Kyle, before the Antichrist can consume his soul and unleash his reign of terror. Stan, however, has the mountain lion cubs perform an abortion on Kyle, removing the Antichrist, which Santa unceremoniously smashes with a sledgehammer. Santa gives Stan a special Christmas wish, and Stan uses it to have Santa resurrect the mountain lion cubs' mother, much to his relief. Everyone then goes home to a happy Christmas. The narrator concludes, "they all lived happily ever after, except for Kyle, who died of AIDS two weeks later." Kyle is shown on a hospital bed slowly dying. The episode ends with a Christmas-themed title card reading, "The End", and Kyle (unseen) shouts, "Goddammit, Cartman!"

Production
According to this episode's mini-commentary, this episode was one of the most difficult to make. After making the feature film Team America: World Police and the 13 other episodes in South Park's 8th season in the same year (a year which Trey Parker and Matt Stone describe as "The Year from Hell"), Parker, Stone and the show's other writers were completely drained of ideas. The staff tried to come up with an idea, but nothing came up through Thursday and Friday which is considered a huge drawback with South Park's rushed production. On Saturday afternoon the staff decided to just do the idea of parodying John Denver and the Muppets: A Christmas Together holiday special, which had been in gestation for some time. The critters participate in Satanic behavior like the possessed crew of the 1997 movie Event Horizon, which also inspired Stone and Parker to create the characters. With some doubt, the show developed into an episode involving a rhyming narration and ending with it being a story by Cartman, the creators ended up quite satisfied with it. The episode was also in the style of Christmas stories such as How the Grinch Stole Christmas. The episode has special bumpers, announcing it to be "A Woodland Critter Christmas," with Squirrelly then saying in a cheerful voice, "Hail Satan!"
